Surge The best part of “believe” is the “lie”. + music | Dominic wasn’t sure why he was in the hospital, but that in itself was only more cause for concern. He sat up and swung his legs out of bed, noting that there was no pain, if anything, he felt simply as though he were waking up from a good night’s sleep. There were wires training from pads on his chest, and an IV drip in his arm. He removed the pads, causing the gently humming monitor to beep insistently.
He stood, feeling the cool floor against his bare feet, and walked over to the door, looking out to see that he was indeed, in a hospital, seeing a nurse approaching at speed.
“Sir please, you shouldn’t be out of bed.”
He frowned, “why? I feel fine.”
She ushered him back towards his bed, clearly not taking no for an answer, “You’ve been in a car accident Mr Weaver, now please, return to your bed.”
He climbed back into the hospital bed, “I don’t remember anything about it.”
She smiled sympathetically, “that often happens sir, I’m sorry but there’s not much I know about it. I have to go, we’re rushed off our feet out here.”
“Yeah… yeah…”
He let her go, wondering where his phone was, then discovered it on the cabinet beside his bed. Cracks crazed the screen and it looked as though it had been used as a soccer ball. He frowned. It still worked though, albeit sporadically. His clothes appeared to be gone, or at least the top half. He discovered the trousers of his suit, there was a faint dark stain at one of the pockets, but the jacket and his shirt were gone. Just how bad had this accident been?
He opened up the browser on his phone to search for recent car accidents, but didn’t have to go far, his news app beat him to it. He would have whistled, were it not for the fact that it was painfully obvious how big the accident had been.
He looked up as he sensed movement. The man in the bed opposite was stirring.

[PTabbedContent] [PTab=APPEARANCE] WHO YOU SEE Hair: Black Eyes: Brown Skin: Black
Attire: There are few things a man looks better in than a suit, and Dominic holds to that thought with a resolution the Spartans at Thermopylae would envy. Though he owns expensive casual clothing as well, he is most often found in a well-cut, expensively tailored suit. He does his best work in a suit, or so he says. One thing is for sure, everything he wears came with a high price tag. | Dominic is young and slim, clearly taking time in the gym but not worried about muscle, more about staying fit and driving himself on. He moves with a sort of boundless energy, not so much walking as striding from place to place, and this enthusiasm is evident in his appearance. Long legged, he could almost be called lanky, as though his limbs are just a little too long for his body. His hair is cut short, and though curly, is styled tightly against his skull. Though capable of serious moods, he is far more frequently seen with a smile on his face than frown. |
[/PTab={background-color:#f0f0f0;width:530px;height:290px;padding:10px;padding-top:0px;margin-top:-6px;}] [PTab=PERSONAL] PERSONALITY Infectious, that word really encapsulates Dominic’s personality. He has his serious moods, but rarely frowns, and smiles in such a way that you can’t help but join in. This contagious good mood is probably one of the reasons for his success, he is good at cheering people up, and seems to find it easy to charm his way into someone’s good books, even if they previously had no reason to trust, or even good reason not to. That is not to say that he is not shrewd, his lifestyle is extravagant, but he is no rich heir. Quite contrarily, Dominic is a self-made man. Though it is easy to be taken in by the good looks and easy smile, behind that lies a powerful mind and quick wit. With a knack for spotting a good deal and levering any opportunity wide open, Dominic is a born businessman, and has the ambition to match. Calling him a workaholic would be a fair description, he spends more time in the office than out of it, and can power his way through a day with only the bare minimum of sleep and a couple of coffees. HISTORY Born the son of two working class parents, Dominic’s background is hardly remarkable. He grew up in a council estate, his parents both hard working, but spending most of their time out of the house in a bid to put food on the table in an increasingly uncaring economy. His father worked as a caretaker during the day and a night watchman at a local factory most nights, grabbing only a few hours of sleep before heading to the next job. His mother spent her time at first caring for Dominic, then working as a cleaner in the local area once he was a little older. Dominic was never a gifted student, nor a particularly hard worker. Neither of his parents had attended University, and wished for their own son to exceed them. He never expressed an interest in University however, and though he was, if anything, a lazy student, he proved to be a hard worker when it came to everything else. His business dreams began relatively tamely, he mowed lawns around the neighbourhood, walked dogs, house sat, and saved like crazy. Though of course what he was earning was really just pocket change, the hours of work and years of frugality added up. Even so, the few thousand pounds he amassed from his ‘business’ wasn’t the most important thing he earned. What he earned was the ability to sell himself, to sell anything to talk to the doubter and convince them that just what they needed was whatever he might have to offer. He left school at eighteen with average grades, spent most of his savings on a suit, and applied to all and sundry. Though responses were few and far between, every single company that interviewed him offered him a job, such was his charisma and charm. It was marketing that he ended up setting his sights on however. If you are a born salesman what better to sell than salesmanship itself. By twenty-four he was the rising star in ‘United Public Relations and Marketing’, but he wasn’t satisfied to just be a marketing executive, he wanted more. So he left the company, and he took his biggest clients with him. With millions of pounds in advertising revenue following him, Dominic began his own company, ‘Ascendant’ and went from a well-off, appreciated salesman, to a wealthy, envied CEO almost overnight. His parents no longer work, and instead live in an expensive inner-city townhouse, while he himself owns a spacious penthouse apartment, not that he spends much time there. He almost feels more comfortable in his office, and is determined to drive his star, and his stock ever higher. Already he has signed the largest pharmaceutical company in the country, and is negotiating with a major sports brand. His ambition is potent, and he’s not finished yet. [/PTab={background-color:#f0f0f0;width:530px;height:290px;padding:10px;padding-top:0px;margin-top:-6px;}] [PTab=POWER] MORE TO ME THAN MEETS THE EYE ABILITY Dominic Malcolm Weaver is a showman, so it’s probably appropriate that he developed an equally flashy power. Dominic is an electrokine, he can absorb, redistribute, and manipulate electricity, from throwing bolts of lightning, to pulling power out of any uninsulated electrical device in the room. LIMITS Dominic needs a source for his power, though he can produce some electrical power under his own charge he is no high efficiency battery. He can absorb power from devices and even from the mains power supply, but that power will dwindle with remarkable speed, leaving him more effective in an area where he can simply redirect electricity, rather than having to produce it himself. WEAKNESSES Dominic is now highly resistant to electricity, but not immune to it, and should he attempt to absorb too much, could prove to suffer the same effects any normal human would who grasps a live wire.
