If Megan had tried to imagine what training was like for the members of the Hero Program before joining, she had somehow imagined a facility that looked less like a regular gym.
Perhaps she wasn’t being completely fair, the equipment was top of the line stuff that she had to constantly check the weights on because somebody kept using it at 1000 pounds of resistance and there were several complex ‘movement training courses’, a nightmarish cross between rope courses, climbing walls, hurdles, and a million other ways to practice moving over difficult terrain- including two courses specifically for fliers. But none of that changed that it looked exactly like every other gym she had been to. It was apparently a rather slow day for criminals in San Francisco, and so Megan had been able to spend the entire morning in the training facility and her body felt like it- but Megan had nothing physically speaking over a normal human, and she really needed to keep herself sharp because of that.
She pulled her phone out to check the rest of her schedule- briefing on some new intel about a local gang in an hour, then a publicity meeting about her, then a short patrol, then another publicity meeting that wasn’t about her specifically but about the entire team, then a free slot that she and most other Heroes used to get a second patrol in…
Yeah, there was a good reason this was considered such a high stress job, the paperwork had come as close to defeating Menagerie as the supervillains had.
— An hour later, having showered, eaten lunch, and changed into costume, Menagerie came to the intel meeting. These were perhaps her favorite type since there was nothing to do but listen and it wasn’t about her. Knowledge was power as the saying went, and so Heroes had to know about all the identified local metahuman criminals that were still at large, plus some basics on any organizations employing one of them.
As Megan learned, a new gang with an abnormally high number of metahumans had sprung up, so there were a lot of new threats to keep an eye out for- though she doubted the actual combat threat of the woman with incredibly strong jaws and a paralytic toxin in her saliva- getting close enough to any of the Heroes without nigh invulnerability to bite them was no simple task, there were a few powers that seemed frightening enough that Megan worried these guys were going to become a permanent presence. It seemed like every day there were more and more powerful meta criminals turning up and it was unfortunate but inevitable some would end up entrenching themselves for a while if the Program couldn’t catch them quickly enough.
Soon enough she and the two other Heroes in the meeting (the rest would have the same meeting at different times and places) were dismissed, leaving her to go to her publicity meeting, which was far less interesting. Discussions about an ongoing brand deal that was still a ways away, a lot of public opinion data Megan didn’t understand, and an official apology statement from some state official that she hadn’t even remembered had been badmouthing her. She got that this stuff was needed for the continued survival of the Program, but that didn’t mean she enjoyed it. She just had to get it out of the way so she could get to her actual patrol now…
— Cold wind from off the Bay whipped through the air, giving strange transitions from warm sunlight to biting cold. At last it seemed most locals had become accustomed to seeing animated skeletons on the streets from time to time, and despite the weather, the hard training, the meetings, Megan was happy with it- Menagerie was just accepted as one of the Heroes without further comment. She was part of something bigger, something that actually helped people. Menagerie had a reputation for answering more fan mail than most Heroes, boards generally agreed she was “pretty friendly but also scares the hell out of bad guys”, but all in all she was a name though of with the other local Heroes rather than by itself- and after years of anxiety over her powers she couldn’t have been happier to be seen as one of the team.

I tend to create a lot of stuff for my characters ancillary to the actual site, so this page exists as a repository of links to my notes and other content for those interested. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: I am not remotely involved in the lore and worldbuilding of this site, but I do have several headcanons about it that I treat as true while designing my own characters. Any content in these that is not about my own personal characters is not necessarily site canon and is merely my interpretation. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Detailed Profiles: Since the main profiles on this site are locked after creation, this page includes more detailed profiles with the information about the characters that I have determined in the process of playing them and that I can edit over time. Currently done for Megan and Nell. Menagerie Files: A set of In-universe documents on Megan from the Hero Program, alongside an out of universe description of her opinions on the other characters she has encountered, a list of her possessions, and a timeline of her threads. Headcanon Space: Contains my own ideas about the universe as well as organizations and individuals I have come up with. Random Event Generator: Originally made for a SHIELD roleplay, this system for rolling dice to determine the nature of an operation or to create a complication in a mission works well for Heroes too.

Megan listened and nodded, she had been around long enough to have done a few jobs that went beyond the usual ‘patrol and respond to anything immediate in your area’ routine- a couple joint patrols, some search-and-rescue assistance, and that one odd drone job down in LA. She obviously wasn’t nearly as often requested for special work as several of her peers, in reality because Menagerie was still a name known mostly to locals and Hero buffs, but she was worried it was because she was just less useful.
She shrugged “That’s more than enough interestingness, the job is crazy enough that almost anything else seems dull by comparison. I mean, I’m an actual necromancer working on a team of people that has more collective power for its size than an army, the rest of my life would have to be pretty strange to look like anything compared to that”.
Giving an appreciative and slightly wistful smile, Megan took a long breath before speaking. “Alice, thank you. I mean for everything really, you’ve been really great to me since I came here. The whole program has really… well one or two exceptions but that’s not the point. I was absolutely terrified to become a Hero and… I think I’m doing alright, but I’ve met people who can teleport hundreds of miles, stop a truck with their voice, generate a stronger gravitational field than the planet, and you. You’re like… the toughest out there. I’m not really sure what I add to the group that just sending an extra dozen people in wouldn’t”. Taking another sip of water she said “I mean I know that there's never been a threat big enough to send all the city’s heroes after it, but I feel like that’s always a possibility to be careful of. Either way I’m… really glad to have this”

Sunny may not have had any remotely helpful advice about image (or just about anything else for that matter), but Megan definitely appreciated the attitude. In all the time she’d spent worrying she’d failed to realize that other Metas would understand perfectly well that she didn’t get to pick her power. “I’ll… consider it” she said as her fellow Hero flew down in a surprisingly deft way for somebody so clumsy at everything else and hugged her. Talking to Sunny was like being around an overexcited puppy, perpetually unhelpful yet still somehow impossible to really be upset by.
Keeping up her skeletons always put a strange sort of pressure on her, but never before had a single creature caused enough strain to be noticeable. It wasn’t really painful, it felt more like the strain of doing something mentally challenging for a while had set in instantly. Megan turned to the pit of mud as the mammoth took several huge steps toward it, the bones hitting dirt made almost no sound despite the creature’s size but the snaps of twigs and occasional clacks against rocks could be heard. Sunny’s comment of disgust startled Megan from her focus for a moment in confusion. “Haven’t you ever been to a museum before? There’s no dirt, fossil bones are grey or brown naturally” she explained before noting “Uh… need to focus here, I’ll pick this conversation back up in a moment”.
The mammoth reached the edge of the pit, placing one leg slightly into the watery mud, cutting through it easily. It stood in a position of bracing it’s weight, lowering its skull as the tusks cut through the muck. The curves of the tusks caught around the edges of the object, then it started pulling itself back slowly. Sunny had been right to be worried about being close by, the mud in the pit was quite thin and a small wave of it splashed to the edge, reaching up to the mammoth’s knees as it dragged a car-sized metal mass out of the put, too drenched in mud to be identifiable. Megan wasn’t even anywhere near the thing and she ended up with flecks of muddy water across her armor, she let out a long deep breath once the object was completely onto the ground and the skeleton seemed to vanish in a thin black mist. Megan’s body straightened as if she had dropped a heavy bag and she wistfully said “You’d think it wouldn’t be hard when you’re not the one doing the heavy lifting… but somehow it still is”.

It didn’t seem like Alice had much experience in the police issues department, and to be fair Megan only had experienced it once herself. She could see why Paladin would be respected- many people respected individual power, many respected fame and influence, and many respected genuinely good character. All three of those traits were ones Alice had to the highest degree, not that Megan wasn’t those things but in all cases she was less obviously so… and her mind had got way off topic again. That happened an awful lot actually.
Shrugging as she swallowed another bite of ever-so-slightly spicy meat Megan said “I don’t think I’ve had it that bad in that department, I’m sure plenty of us have gotten off worse than a single bad encounter” at the ‘silver lining’ comment she grinned “This city’s definitely been pretty good to me so far. I have an odd and sometimes frightening ability and in a fight I work better supporting the front line hitters rather than being one of them, but it seems like for the most part I’m treated about the same as the other local Heroes. Well the ones that aren’t you or Sunny” she added with a wink. “I mean there's like at least eight or so Heroes here, forget the exact number, so there is actually some data to compare against.”
Megan gave a sheepish grin after realizing how much she’d just babbled explaining “Sorry. I just get a lot of anxiety about my PR and such”. She took a pause to drink as Alice enthused about their now shared home city. “It’s definitely a nice place even if the weather takes some getting used to. You know all this talk about work I forgot to ask, any interesting stuff happen on that front for you? Mostly been routine stuff for me but I got called in to help search and rescue a couple times and got called down to LA for a thing I’m not 100% sure if I’m allowed to talk about, but that I can assure you is probably one of the least interesting secrets I have”. She chuckled clarifying “You know all my interesting secrets already”

"Umm Sunny... Not being able to see my face is the entire point of a mask" Megan pointed out, figuring it wasn't worth pointing out that she had no makeup on precisely because her mask would hide it anyway. "My powers... they scare a lot of people, I try to move past that as best I can but I already have a lot of critical eyes on me when I'm suited up, I don't need that attention following me when I'm not" she smiled very slightly. Megan was generally a fairly open and earnest person to begin with, and Sunny was hard to hide things from for her, not because the excessively pink-clad hero was particularly observant (she most certainly wasn't) but because she was so straightforward. Sunny didn't hide her thoughts and feelings at all, her exuberance was so genuine that despite her interests seeming copy-pasted from a list of stereotypes about teen girls there could be little doubt she really did want to be a lowercase-h hero. Megan raised an eyebrow beneath her mask at Sunny treating a rock with a tiny amount of dirt on it like it was made of chemical waste, but it didn't surprise her too much at this point, she had picked it up and that was what mattered. Sunny let go of the pebble rather early but it was going more than fast enough still, the rock dropped through the mud like it was water, making a splash only a few inches high as would be expected from such a small object, and… clang! The sound of metal being hit rang softly, muffled by the mud but still audible. “It’s ah, safe to come down now” Megan called into her earpiece. “There's definitely something here. Nice work, I guess my part comes next”Once Sunny had descended Megan looked at her, a serious expression on her face “Hey, could you please try to avoid freaking out when I do this? I’ve never done something this big before and I really need to be able to concentrate”. Taking a deep breath she walked to a large open patch of dirt, bending down to hold her hand against the ground. Strictly speaking she didn’t need to do this, she could use her power blindfolded and tied up if needed, but it helped her focus as she picked out a signal much larger than she’d ever tried to call before, tugging on the feeling. Megan’s legs wobbled a moment like a heavy bag had just been placed on her shoulders, and a patch of dirt about the size of a pickup truck went completely flat like it had turned to liquid. Floating up from below the ground came dozens of thick brown bones, snapping together as they reached the surface, within moments the enormous skeleton stood complete, a creature over ten feet tall with a pair of giant curving tusks. Her voice sounding a bit strained, Megan said “I think this should be enough to dig through the mud…”

Megan's surprise as the food arrived was evident in her expression. The ribs were only a little more subdued than Alice's burger, thickly cut meat with enough bone to rival her costume, just what she could use after all the day's running about and ducking around while coordinating seven or more creatures at once.
Eagerly starting to dig into the well-cooked pile before her, Megan paused to think about the question, taking a sip of water. "Probably not, I've only been doing this for a little over a year. Still a newcomer to the profession really, only reason I can even keep it up is because there's nothing remotely like set hours" she shrugged, taking another bite, sauce dripping into her plate from the piece she held.
The question about her moving gave Megan pause. She didn't really like talking about the string of events that had brought her to California, but she could trust Alice, that much was obvious from the moment she'd met the girl. Alice was easy to like for her, not remotely what she'd have though Paladin would be like in a completely positive way. "Kind of? Not... not in the way you probably meant though. I ended up in a bit of a scuffle back home, there was a break-in to a family's place I was visiting, completely self-defensive" she assured quickly "The cops who looked into it weren't very friendly to me though, but there was no real basis to charge me with anything. I think that's how the Program realized I existed in the first place actually. I... I was scared, really scared that some day I'd not be that lucky, I'd be made to look like the villain over something where I was just doing the only thing I could. It got me thinking more about my powers, and that helped in the long run, but when a friend-of-a-friend type connection gave me the option to move somewhere that was more... used to people like me" she smiled weakly and a bit sadly. "That's in the past now though, I've not been doing too badly here if I do say so myself" she said, grin returning.

Megan listened quietly as Alice pondered, before saying "Hey, who's to define what is an 'actual life' in the beginning? I mean we've got a lot of a social network, could've picked a worse job to devote yourself to. I don't mind the talking really, everyone needs to have people to talk to about stuff, and the basic nature of it being secret makes the pool smaller. That's my take on it anyway, I'm no psychologist" she shrugged, taking a sip of tea.
She pondered the part about not being able to share with many others. Megan herself didn't feel extremely strongly on the subject of keeping her identity as Menagerie secret, but she still did. She'd have taken the job even if it wasn't an option, but it not only felt right to keep the precedent of hundreds of real and fictional heroes alike that came before her, with the sheer amount of attention on Heroes it felt good to be basically unknown outside a few people in very specific circles as Megan Daniels despite a couple million people at least knowing about Menagerie. "Yeah, it's hard for sure, what isn't?" she muttered.
At the mention of her non-secret job, Megan's expression considerably rose back up. "Oh, I'm a voice actor. I've always liked acting, I'm not bad at it but I'm better at the talking part and liked the flexibility. It works out well as a secondary gig to the Program too since I don't really have hours. It's a bit shaky in income but I've enjoyed it, never really saw this line of work coming of course... once I realized I could do this I couldn't ignore it but I had also just finished years of formal training of acting when I moved here, so why waste that?" she smiled, idly stirring her iced tea with it's straw.

Gravity Girl had a hell of a reputation proceeding her, both in a positive and negative sense, but it could never have really prepared Megan for all of this. She'd never have ground to dispute the many people pointing out that Sunny was self-absorbed, materialistic, and naïve to the point of seeming slightly detached from reality. On the other hand it was also undoubtable that Sunny had a good heart, that she truly wanted to help people. She was so completely genuine in her thoughts and actions that Megan couldn't really stay irritated at her for not knowing common things or being opposed to even the most clean and harmless moments of contact with natural objects.
Megan wasn't precisely image-obsessed, but her anxiety over people potentially reacting negatively to her powers had gotten her into the habit of frequenting a few of the larger or most interesting Hero forum sites. It was through there that she'd discovered a rather amusing fact, there seemed almost no consistency in how news anchors read 'Menagerie'. She'd certainly heard plenty of people have minor difficulty with the semi-obscure word, but she'd never heard it butchered quite so thoroughly. "I'll think about it, reason I have it like this is because the mask would cover it anyway. Could be useful to have something more discrete if I'm around out of costume though."
Leaning down, Megan picked up a pebble and tossed it into the mud. It was fairly thin and watery, but not quite enough for the stone to fly through fast enough that if the drone was there the clink of metal would be audible. They'd need in moving faster than either of them could throw... "Hey, Sunny, when you're flying, how quickly can you come to a stop? I just had an idea" picking up a new pebble and holding it out she explained "If you flew up a good distance straight above this pit then dive straight down, and you carry a small object the whole time, if you let go of it before you start slowing down it'll keep going quite fast especially since earth's gravity is on our side here. It'll have the same sort of force that the drone crash would- it'll break through enough of the mud that if the drone is under there we'll be able to hear the sound of it hitting metal."

Megan nodded, her tea coming about a minute after the water, and once it does she starts to sip it as she listened. She really got it- she might not be quite as completely and utterly tied into the program as Alice, but most Heroes could at least get some of that feeling, and Megan had joined shortly after mostly cutting off her previous ties by moving. On balance Menagerie had probably spent more time in the city than Megan out-of-costume had (assuming you only counted when she was awake), and mostly she was ok with that philosophically but it's not an easy thing to handle mentally considering the much higher stress levels as a Hero than as her standard self.
Ultimately Megan figured this was all just the unfortunate drawbacks to her situation, after all she'd always tried to fix things, to see people who'd lost hope seem to come alive as hope returned. Not to mention she felt strangely agitated by not using her powers for a while and the Program was a pretty safe way to avoid that. She'd been given a lot and now had a chance to give back and to work with others dedicated to actually doing something to improve the world with their unique talents, the benefits were enough to weather the way you really needed to dedicate yourself to the job.
At Alice's question Megan shrugs "I'm doing alright, starting to get to meet some people in the Program, my apartment building isn't very social among neighbors and my side work is all done over the internet so I don't have much other chance to talk to people. I'd say about half the time off-the-book for me is networking, events, social media, all that image stuff. I still get kind of nervous about it even after it turned out alright. Other half is, you know, sleeping, eating, et cetera. So... I guess I do have a life outside work, but it's a rather minimal and boring one." she chuckled and shrugged. Her voice acting kept her from detaching so thoroughly from being normal Megan that it became just a state born from necessity of having to manage her basic needs out of costume, but really she loved being a Hero too much to keep it from being the primary part of her self.

Megan stretched forward, putting her chin in her hands as she listened, sliding the new information on Alice's past into the back of her mind but a bit too awkward-feeling about it to discuss it right now. "Interesting enough, I didn't know you cooked. I know a lot about what you're like so in that way I can be said to know you but we've never really had a chance to chat" she gestured to her face "like this before. Honestly I've not talked to people nearly enough since I moved and it's starting to get to me." She chuckled slightly, the topic was serious of course but she was able to find some self-deprecating humor in her own poor life-work balance related choices. She looked up and down the menu, it seemed to be pretty much basic grill food and she could see why lots of Heroes liked it, there was enough variety to account for many different tastes and the food was the exact sort of exceptionally caloric that was needed after a day of running and fighting, even if you didn't do it while wearing armor.
Now able to look more closely at her out of costume for the first time she could see that not only had she been correct that Alice couldn't be far from her own age, despite the recognizable hair and smile she just gave off a feeling of being so normal even in the most iconic costume in the program, no wonder she didn't attract too much attention dressed in normal clothes. Alice was of a similar sort of build to Megan, but to a closely looking eye she was evidently quite muscular, while Megan had a bit of muscle starting to develop but her arms still looked rather stick-like and bony. It was funny, in costume Paladin was America's premier Hero, and Menagerie was perhaps something of a C-lister but certainly recognizable locally and had her fans, but here the two of them were just sitting in a restaurant in casual clothes, both with distinctly dyed hair, and nobody noticed at all.
The waiter appeared as Megan pondered this and she bounced back up, ordering the ribs Alice had suggested and an iced tea. Turning back to her friend she asked "So how's your life been going outside our work?"

Post by Megan Daniels on Feb 17, 2021 21:40:19 GMT
There was a certain talent Megan had that was hard to notice, even for her, and that was how readily she could adapt herself to other people's personalities, still acting true to herself but showing the parts of herself the other person would most approve of in the forefront. She didn't even do it on purpose, it was the natural result of both being able to read people well and (perhaps subconsciously) being really concerned about other people's opinion of her. So while most would have some difficulty standing the blatantly obvious shallowness and naiveté that comprised at least three quarters of Sunny's personality, Megan wasn't especially bothered. She beamed once again at the complement to her name saying with a grin "Thanks, I got it for my birthday" she said, grin broadening.
Megan... didn't really think Sunny had gotten the idea of what they needed to find even with a visual demonstration, but she was sure that the girl at least could notice something as distinct as a crash site from the air. She nodded in approval at her comms being built into the costume. The program provided small earpieces, and she had a few of them as spares, but making it part of your standard suit seemed the way to go. "Oh, nothing too special. It'd be hidden by my mask anyway, so I have it built into the mask". Though she shared the common opinion of the public that the Gravity Girl costume was rather tacky and that pink letters outlined in pink on a pink background were neigh-unreadable, she couldn't really say she disliked it. It had a unified and coherent aesthetic that matched the themes and persona she used. Costume design was a balance of practicality and display, and her abilities meant that as impractical an outfit as it would be for others to do heroics in, for her it barely mattered.
Taking a more leisurely walk around, mostly just waiting for Sunny's flyover, Megan's eyes looked skywards once she heard the slightest bit of sound from her earpiece, quickly able to spot the bright pink that definitely stood out among the blue and grey of the sky. "You don't want to land because..." she repeated softly, eyebrows furrowing "Uh, hang on, I'll come over to see".
Alright, to Sunny's credit it really was a lot of mud, not the tiny puddle her words had given the impression of, more 'this is practically a swamp' than 'it rained recently' sort of muddy. She looked over the muck, there did seem to be a bit of a drag like something large had crashed through it. "Hmm, does look right but I can't tell. Mud is too thin for me to tell anything, bones sink to the bottom, and so a disturbance in the mud doesn't create a disturbance in bones. There is good news though, if it is there it'll be easier to get out than if it was buried, I've got a trick I've been itching to try out that should get it out... once we determine if this is in fact the place and not an oddly located ravine"

Megan smirked at Alice's response. From what little she'd shared Alice had quite a rough life before the program, and she couldn't exactly condemn such a minor victimless crime as slightly underage drinking, it still was amusing to keep up the pretense of being a lot stricter than they were considering they both worked in the law enforcement sector. Her stomach seemed to become even more eager at the mention of food, she hadn't figured that she'd work up such an appetite from heroing at first, but as it turned out the most common exercise Heroes do is running, so very much running, walking, climbing or jumping over things... even though she tried to stay a bit back from the combat itself she still had to move around quickly as she could the old-fashioned way.
Following Alice down the corridor that she'd so easily managed to pick out from the gaggle of identical halls, Megan's eyes flashed over the door sign. It seemed the joker with a sharpie had struck here too. Perhaps one of the other Heroes? Both of their comments had seemed aimed at them and in spots only cleared Program staff could access. She guessed it didn't matter, she wasn't going to guess having only gotten to know three of the others closely.
The air was quite chilly, Megan's costume hadn't felt that hot in the summer but come winter it kept the cold out well enough that she hadn't realized quite how cold a day it was. She buttoned up her jacket with fingers stiff from the wind before following the local example (her usual approach to weather in a less familiar area) and pocketing her hands. Megan hurried after Alice, who even not actively using her powers seemed almost impossibly fast on her feet at times, into the warm wooden-decorated restaurant that was apparently a haven for Heroes, another thing she'd missed from her introduction as a Hero making her too busy to properly meet most of her colleagues. Her impish grin came back in full force as she was introduced to Bob, a man built less robustly than some of the skeletons she'd summoned before had been. "Hey, nice meeting you. Any friend of Alice's is a friend of mine" she said with her smiles turning from grin to more normal smile as she did, snorting a little at his assessment of her shape. She was indeed rather thin, having never completely outgrown the slightly stretched out look that most people develop in their teens, but even before her legs had filled out a bit from all the dashing about this man had her beat by miles. As they sat down she idly asked Alice "So what did you do when you worked here? I'm curious now" as she started looking over the menu.

Megan chuckled at the girl's comment "Yeah, I guess it was. It's kind of just the way I tend to talk so I don't think too much about it. Still, corny or not I meant everything I said". she had never expected the night would turn out like this but it was quite welcome, the girl wasn't a bad person by any means she could tell, and Megan had long ago learned she could usually trust her 'feel' for what a person is like. She had committed some crimes, admittedly Megan couldn't even say for sure what crimes she had committed beyond vigilantism, controlling people kind of fell into a legal gray zone, but this was (at least from her superior's perspective) her biggest weakness. Criminal or not, this girl was trying genuinely to help people, there was a harsh aggressive edge to her but not much genuine malice, how could she fight or capture somebody who seemed to have gone through a lot of struggle and yet still maintained the same goal to help Megan herself did?
Pressing her lips a bit she said "I don't want you to go to jail. I'm not the one in charge of everything of course but I can try to show people that you're more than any mistakes you made getting here." the truth was, they needed Heroes. As much publicity as they got and despite how many people envied the job, the Heroes are vastly outnumbered by the number and magnitude of threats in the world. Inherent image difficulties hadn't kept her out, and they shouldn't keep anyone else out. Most of them lacked Paladin and Celerity's amazing talents to be both effective and generally beloved, but now that she'd seen it from the inside, the Program needed all the help it could get.
Her usually unflinching smile briefly returned at the recently introduced Silencer's slip up "It's okay, I'll keep it between us that you accidently tried to steal my name. Great meeting you Silencer." she shook the hand a little and smiled warmly. "Do you want to come back with me or just give me a way to contact you? The latter might be a bit safer and give me more chance to vouch for you"

Megan smiled broadly. Kathy was just... overwhelmingly nice in a way that seemed to be getting rarer and rarer. No wonder she had managed to win over even such an intently metaphobic city. Megan knew the 'intently positive from experience instead of naivete' personality type, her old friend Emily had it, Paladin had it, and she was starting to realize she had it too. "For sure, it's a great place and I've only had a chance to talk with two of my colleagues so far but they seem good people. Mostly. One guy's a bit creepy but even he seems to mean well. I'm sure it's easier to keep in touch when crossing the country is such a simple task of course."
Her expression darkened very slightly at the talk of the attacks, she took another sip of tea and said "I heard about the ferry, and that Mall thing was literally a week after I moved. I had just going through the physicals when it happened. You'd think people would try targeting New York and San Francisco less, but I guess most of them aren't thinking of that. I used to think that it wasn't realistic that after a couple times the supervillains in comics would just keep working right around the Heroes that keep beating them, but apparently I needed to give those writers more credit" she could only think of three names for NYC Heroes but she knew the program there was very solid, and San Francisco was the effective hub of metahumanity these days with Paladin, Gravity Girl, and a bunch of less famous but still highly effective Heroes always on call. Finishing her tea Megan grinned once more and said "I know we have great people on both coasts ready to pounce once something turns up. It's what I joined for, I saw I had a part to play, I could actually do something to make people's lives better with my powers. And it's a pleasure to meet anyone else united in that goal" she said giving a rather overdone Shakespearean bow "Pleased to make your acquaintance M'lady"
