"Ugh. I can't believe I don't get to wear a gown..." Red Carpet Times! A Red Carpet premier in New York had really excited Sunny when she'd heard about it. A chance to dress in her most glamorousgown, be pictured with the stars, feature in all the gossip magazines the next day, she could hardly wait. Her appearance was even highly publicised. But sadly, as it approached, she was told they specifically wanted Gravity Girl, not Sunny Slater. Which meant arriving in her Gravity Girl costume. Not that she didn't like her costume. In fact, she loved her costume. She was just a little disappointed she didn't get a chance to properly dress up with the other stars. Although Sunny rather vainly guessed this was why they had invited her, and not, say Paladin, because they needed a superhero to arrive who looked as good as the actresses (or, in Sunny's vain mind, even better!). The real reason was probably because they knew Sunny would lap up the chance, but that didn't cross her mind. And so, while various celebrities were pulling up on the red carpet in limos, Sunny descended from the sky just as requested, her hot pink outfit catching plenty of attention as her stiletto boots touched down, her bright smile on her glossy pink lips exploding as all the cameras went off and she waved to the crowd. She realised she probably should of researched what movie this was for, but she had no intention of watching it anyway. Despite being in her familiar outfit, Sunny had spent even more time than usual on her flawless make-up and hair, and the cloud of perfume that surrounded her was somehow even thicker than usual. She thought it was great. Some people might disagree... She approached the crowd, waving, and signing the odd Gravity Girl poster people had brought along. Her eyes caught a girl in black, looking sickly pale, not even wearing any make-up, with long black hair. Ew. What was she doing here? There should be a rule, Sunny thought. You shouldn't be allowed up to the rope if you didn't wear make-up. (Unless you were a boy, obviously). What if she got in some photos? She looked so different from the others she'd draw attention away from Sunny herself! But maybe she was some charity case? If that was the case, maybe the best thing to do was embrace it? Say hi, act like the gracious celebrity? That'd work, right? Sunny went up to the strange plain girl and offered her usual glossy, vacant celebrity smile. "Like, hiya!" She smiled with a little wave. "Would you like me to sign something?" She offered. Evelyn Winters "Ew, who let you in?" ulla

Ugh. There was that face again. Lips pulled into a plastic smile. She’d looked it up, but she still hated seeing it. Sunny Slater. A woman trapped in a Hollywood bubble. She’d gone through her emails (the password was so easy she could’ve guessed it), nothing but set ups for PR stunts and online purchases for Disney plushies and makeup. She would be amazed if this woman had ever felt anything real in her life. In a past life, Evelyn may have just looked down on her with smug impunity, another little mouse for her to play with, another prey, another cog in the machine of life that she and her brother were too great to be a part of, that they simply looked down upon. But now, now Evelyn had been through hell, and to see someone so completely and utterly clueless bothered her to no end, and the fact the this bothered her made her angry.
That fact simply enforced Sunny’s position as the perfect candidate.
She’d been thinking about what Sonnet had said ever since her encounter with her. That she could never - or at the least it would be incredibly difficult for her to - defeat a Hero. Constantly, she’d been looking for the chance to prove her wrong. She’d been putting herself in some rather precarious situations to lure one out, but to no avail. But here she was, coming straight her way, arrival announced, right out in the open. And this would be no easy fight either. No, Evelyn would never cop out like that. Sunny was incredibly powerful. She’d done extensive research into her abilities, watched videos online. Gravity manipulation. Impressive. And hopefully, the woman would have more skill than her public persona and online purchases would lead her to believe.
She closed her makeshift laptop shut, and gently stroked the sleeping Cat beside her. He was knocked out on painkillers. It was good, he needed his rest, and he wouldn’t get it any other way. He was too stubborn to rest willing. Besides, she could tell he was grateful for them, as much as he hated to admit it. She knew the pain of losing an appendage more than anybody, and any relief from that would be eagerly received.
She made her way out of her trailer, through the forest, to the city where the Red Carpet premiere was taking place. She made sure to get there hours early, she wanted a good vantage point. She was aware, as people began to gather, that she stood out like a sore thumb; pale-skinned, makeup-less, clothed in plain black clothing, and of course, covered in a myriad of ugly, disfiguring scars. She had no jacket to hide them this time, she simply had on her tank top. Good. Let them stare. She wanted everyone to know the woman, the human, that defeated the Hero.
She stood toying with the knife in her pocket, hand tapping the hilt as it went up and down in her prosthetic leg, opening the hatch and closing it, opening it and closing it. Patiently, silently, calmly waiting for her prey to walk into the trap.
As Sunny descended from the heavens, she heard a chuckling to her left. She turned to see the hallucination of her brother staring up at the Hero and laughing. “Oh boy, I can’t wait to see this.”
She couldn’t either.
She scoffed inwardly as Sunny landed. Did they always have to wear those ridiculous outfits? Who the hell decided that would be a good idea? She solidly gripped the handle of her knife, large, straight-edged, used for melee. She couldn’t wait to see that pink suit turn red.
Evelyn was quite surprised when Sunny walked right up to her. Axel burst into hysterics when Sunny asked if she would like her autograph. Inwardly, Evelyn grinned wide, but of course, her face maintained its perfectly blank expression. “Oh,” she said with maybe a hint of arrogance coming through her monotone, “is this going to be that easy?” And she moved to swiftly bury her knife into ‘Gravity Girl’s’ stomach. No fatalities, not yet. She wanted to draw this out. She wanted a spectacle of Sunny’s defeat.

"Wait, are you serious?" Red Carpet Times! Sunny was a little surprised by the girl's lack of reaction to her approaching. Usually, people squealed or screamed or even went incredibly shy. Sure, there were the people who didn't usually care who she was (usually teenage boyfriends or brothers dragged along) and she was used to that too, but there was usually still a bashful, 'I'm talking to somebody famous!'ness about them. But this girl looked at her like nothing registered at all. A blank look the likes of which Sunny couldn't remember ever seeing before. It was even, possibly, a little bit creepy, if Sunny was capable of being scared by such things, but a simple look couldn't penetrate her perfect, pink, perfumed little bubble in which she lived. She noticed all the scars, and managed to avoid wrinkling her nose. Hadn't this girl ever heard of make-up? She could cover up scars that way! This just reinforced Sunny's opinion that she was probably a special case, and so her decision to approach her could only play well for the cameras. Her comment was strange though, and Sunny blinked, tilting her head slightly. Maybe somebody more experienced and more worldly (or, to put it less politely, less of a ditz) would of realised something was wrong right away, but it took Sunny a few moments, just until the knife was coming towards her. The attack was very, very fast, but Sunny saw it an instant before it sank in to her stomach, and her powers activated. While the assailant had speed on their side, Sunny's powers worked with the speed of thought, and so instantly all around her body just a millimetre off of her skin her gravity field intensified to several thousand times Earth's norm, repelling any object that touched it. Since her powers were based on gravitational fields too, it meant that she was rooted to the spot easily, so the knife's kinetic energy couldn't otherwise push her back, so it would only have the options of shattering or skittering away, possibly even doubling back on the assailants hands. While being attacked here might of surprised Sunny a little, she WAS a superhero and did deal with violent criminals a lot. And actually getting to stop one in front of her fans was a great opportunity. So contrary to what people would expect, now she knew she was safe with her gravity shield up, she just smiled a dainty, happy smile. "Really?" She asked, as if the entire idea of attacking her was absurd. "Well, at least you're gonna give my fans, like, totally an awesome show. Pity it's gonna be, like, so short." She commented in her usual Californian twang, sounding almost exactly like what the 80's would of called a 'valley girl'. She reached out with one of her skinny arms and went to give her assailant a dainty, girlish tap. Of course, it was a tap from a hand that had a localised gravity field making it feel like it weighed something like the weight of a skyscraper, which Sunny found more than enough to knock any dumb criminal down. She was barely even paying attention, certain that this was about to be instantly over... Evelyn Winters "Light up the stage, it's time for a showdown!" ulla

Half anticipating the impact, she let the knife fall out of her had before the shock got back to her wrist. The knife clattered to the ground. She was surprised Sunny had reacted so quickly, but was more glad than anything. Her idiocy was overwhelming, but her power level was astonishing. This was looking to be a satisfyingly difficult fight.
She was taken somewhat aback by how stereotypically girly she was. She knew it was bad, but she didn’t know it was this bad. Was that a valley girl accent? She didn’t know people had that any more. Typically, Sunny's arrogance would annoy her (Evelyn’s superiority should be immediately obvious to everybody), but at the moment it was more cute than vexing. She knew it came purely out of her evident lack of brain cells. This would be just the right amount of easy. She couldn’t wait to put her down.
Of course, there was the problem of her gravity field to address. No knife could penetrate that. But she was prepared for this particular conundrum. She had a plan. This wasn’t simply a matter of skill versus power, but brains versus brawn.
She easily dodged Sunny’s dainty tap, knowing exactly the power that could be put behind it. As she did, she grabbed a young woman that was running away and wrapped her arm around her body as she held a knife against her throat. “Lower your gravity fields, or I'll start killing your fans.” She stated plainly. There was a chorus of screams from the audience. The woman started crying, which simply invigorated her. Without warning, she quickly drew her knife deep into her jugular. “Oops, there's one.” She said as she let her limp, dead body fall to the floor. She grabbed another one by the back of the shirt as they were trying to make their escape and put the now-bloodied knife to their throat. “And if any of you move, I'll keep killing more!” Of course, not everyone obeyed her orders, so she reached into her pocket, pulled out a large throwing knife and tossed it deftly at a fan who had continued running away. It hit her right in the back of the neck and she went down, dead. “I told you.” She scolded the audience. Nearly everyone froze. A scared and eerie silence fell across the crowd, the only sounds were of people crying.
”Now,” she stated, pressing the knife slightly into her victim’s throat, drawing blood; the girl gasped, she couldn’t have been more than sixteen, ”I want everyone to start throwing whatever you have at our icon here. Phones, makeup, spare change, whatever you have in your purse. That way we’ll know if Gravity Girl here truly cares for her fans.” The fans slowly but surely started lobbying their belongings at their idol. If she’d lowered her gravity fields, these items would hit. This would ensure that she would be vulnerable enough to penetrate with her blades. Not to mention this would serve very well to humiliate her.

"No, no, no, stop!" Red Carpet Times! Sunny's eyes went wide when the girl killed her first fan, slicing her throat. The teenage girl in her took over, trumping the superhero, and she screamed in terror. Somebody went to run, and she killed another, before holding a third hostage. Sunny looked on helplessly, bursting in to tears, and screaming again. "Nononono! Like, please, omigod! Please! Don't hurt them!" She begged. She'd never been put in a situation like this before. Usually she could deal with any problem. But innocent people being threatened? What was she meant to do? She tried to think. The Hero Program probably covered this, but she'd never been a very good student, vain and self centered, and she hadn't listened most of the time. She had no idea. Her powers let her move quickly, by shifting her gravity field she could basically launch herself forward at terminal velocity, but that was useless for a very good reason. It would cover the ground between them before the killer could react, yes, but it'd also cover the ground between them before Sunny could react. She might be able to move that fast in flight, but she couldn't react that fast. They'd just collide and she'd end up hurting more people than she saved. She realised she had no choice, and so she lowered her gravity field. Not that anybody could tell, her gravity field was flush to her skin, so it'd block anything that came at her, but this girl was smart. She knew she'd know if it was still up. Sunny was not, on the other hand, smart. And as such, she had to assume everybody was going to outsmart her. At least when people's lives were on the line. Those big, weepy eyes of her's, now framed by mascara goop tears, focused on the blood drawn on the neck of the girl's victim. "Okay, okay, I'll do what you say! Just, like, promise not to hurt anybody else." Sunny knew she had to obey for now. She was hoping she could lure the girl close, away from the victims, reactivate her powers, and attack. For now though, she had no choice but to obey. And suddenly, people reluctantly started throwing items at her. Sunny dealt with it with all the grace of a girly ditzy coddled supermodel, and shrieked, flailing uselessly with her arms, yelping as more and more items hit her, causing her the type of pain she hadn't really experienced before. She hunched over, turning away, squealing like a pathetic spoiled child. "AHHH! STOP! STOP! PLEASE! STOP!" She wept pathetically. And it truly was pathetic. Every part a spoiled blonde princess, and not a single part a superhero. Evelyn was already well on her way to humiliating Gravity Girl, who was showing her true colours as a spoiled ditz. Perhaps the only thing heroic about her was that she hadn't put her field back up, obeying her demands for the moment. She was, at least, putting her fans before herself... To see her whining and crying, it was so pathetic it was almost disappointing, she wanted a fair fight, but at the same time, it was so very gratifying. To see someone snivel and whine before her, to have such complete control over them, it was absolutely delightful. She needed this. To see this human unfairly blessed with power, power that they did not earn, power not born from skill but from luck, finally put in their rightful place. And by her no less. It was exhilarating.
”Looks like you do care about your fans.” She said, dislodging the knife from the girl’s throat as Sunny was bombarded with her fans’ belongings. The girl stumbled back, weeping, her makeup marred by tears. ”Or at least you care about your reputation.” She casually hopped over the small, metal fence separating the crowd from the star. ”Now, let’s see if you can live up to it.”
”Everybody keep throwing stuff at her! We wouldn’t want to give her a chance to put her guard up, would we?” She commanded as she walked toward the middle of the red carpet. Her inward grin was large and confident, her heart was pounding with excitement, but no one could see it in her face or hear it in her voice. As usual, she was a blank slate. ”We want this to be a fair fight, don’t we? Wouldn’t want your gravity guard getting in the way, that seems a bit too unbalanced.” She paused, smirking inwardly. ”Well, I suppose I want it to be a fair fight. You don’t really have any say in the matter.” She twirled the knife in her hand, standing directly in front of Sunny. ”Now comes the real test.” She swiftly and suddenly threw her knife at Sunny’s abdomen, again, nothing fatal, but it would hurt like hell. The knife flew towards her as fast as an arrow, slow enough for her to put her gravity guard up, but fast enough she doubted that Sunny could react fast enough to physically dodge out of the way of it.

"Okay, like, you just made a mistake..." Red Carpet Times! Blow after blow landed on Sunny and she wailed, but at the same time, like the reflex to throw your arms up when somebody threw something at you, her gravity powers itched at the back of her mind, and she had to struggle to keep them from activating. But as soon as she saw through the blur of objects that her attacker had let her hostage go, Sunny knew she had to act. Sunny was, as many observed, a bit of a spoiled ditz (if you removed the phrase 'a bit of'). She had skipped or texted her way through the majority of the Hero Program's training, feeling it didn't apply to her because of her powers, but she was, at least, aware of her abilities. Her mother made sure of that. After all, a hero who didn't know how to use their powers wasn't marketable. And she did, under all of her vanities and flaws, have a good heart, and that good heart sometimes worked hard to find out the best way to use her powers. Now her assailant had given her a chance to activate her powers, she could block them, but the question would be, what then? She'd just attack the civilians again. Sunny had to get them both away from the civilians. And sadly away from the cameras, which meant the last shot they'd have was her crying, which would be a PR nightmare! Maybe after she beat her (and quickly fixed her make-up) she could get some shots of her dragging her back to the police station. That might help. So now she had only one way to react. So far, this attacker knew her gravity shield was pretty much impenetrable, but what Sunny hoped she didn't know was how fast Sunny could fly. Thanks to manipulating gravity fields, Sunny could essentially make it so she went from standing still to 'falling' at terminal velocity in flight, which was something just over 200 miles an hour, with little to no acceleration. She couldn't go any faster than that (not without killing herself) but she figured that would be more than enough. So in a sudden movement, Sunny burst forwards, no longer having to worry about hostages, her gravity field up to protect her. This caused the knife to ricochet off of her before she collided with her attacker. Sunny had nothing in the way of strength, she was weak even by somebody built like a size zero supermodel, meaning she couldn't lift half of her assailant's body weight, but she figured colliding with her like an overly perfumed pink bullet would at least carry the two far enough away before she managed to get untangled from Sunny's body... Evelyn spent her entire life training with the best fighter on the planet - her brother. They spent hours in the woods in their backyard perfecting their techniques. They also spent quite a bit of time parkouring around the trees and over buildings while they were in the city. Thus, Evelyn had garnered quite the reaction time. So, when Sunny came barreling toward her at top speed, Evelyn was prepared.
Her preparedness had been aided by her prediction of several outcomes. They all revolved around around how her sympathetic nervous system chose to react to the situation. Fight, flight, or freeze. She had started out with the freeze response when Evelyn had assaulted her fans, so that was what Evelyn was primarily predicting she would continue to do. Part of her was hoping she’d defensively put up her gravity barrier. It would make her look awful and give Evelyn an opportunity to punish her by killing more of her fans. Empathy was so easily exploitable. Then there was the option of her freezing entirely and the knife would sink itself into her flesh and that would be oh so very gratifying. If she chose flight, she could literally just fly away, leaving Evelyn to punish her yet again by going on a mass murder spree. A mass killing done purely with knives, wouldn’t that be one for the books. She wondered how many she could slaughter before they all scattered, twenty? Thirty? Fifty? It seemed, however, she’d chosen the fight option, which was really what she was looking for. All outcomes would be favorable, but fight was the one she was hoping for most.
Unfortunately, Sunny came rushing toward her at a speed she couldn’t quite dodge. Fortunately, she approached Evelyn at just the right speed that she could counter. When Sunny came close enough, she hooked her arm around her neck and used Sunny’s momentum to fling herself onto her back, keeping her arm wrapped around her neck, putting her in a choke hold. Using the grip around her neck to keep herself steady, she grabbed Sunny’s wrist and wrenched her arm it backwards at an unnatural angle, aiming to break it. She was such a tiny little thing, it shouldn’t take much effort at all. She straddled the tiny woman with her legs, keeping herself tight on her back and pulled back on her arm more, waiting until she heard that delightful crack.

"Up, up and away!" Red Carpet Times! Sunny was aware of Evelyn grappling with her as she ascended, higher and higher, in to the sky, her gravity field still up to protect her from harm. It took a lot of concentration, using both of her powers at once, but she was focused, more out of self preservation than anything else, terrified of what that girl might do while grappling on to her. Sure enough, she went for her neck, starting to choke her. Sunny had to focus her gravity field around her neck, to give herself room to breathe, but concentrating on that, her field keeping the rest of her safe, and her flight was difficult, and she was aware that she beginning to choke, unable to protect her otherwise skinny neck at all times. Theoretically, Sunny could render herself basically impervious from physical harm, unless you hit her with a moon. By nature of increasing the gravity field around her body, she could make herself an utterly immovable object, including her limbs. She'd be like a solid statue that could withstand anything. But to do that, she had to concentrate, she had to be able to focus on her defences. Not focus on flying, on the pain and bruises from being battered by objects, focus on the horror that two people had died and she hadn't been able to save them, not focus on the fact that her neck was being choked and while her gravity field was protecting her from the pain, it wasn't from the fact she couldn't expand her neck to breath again. In other words, while Sunny's powers were formidable when used correctly, she was in no position to do any of those things thanks to Evelyn's outmanoeuvring of her, and this meant that when her attacker took her arm and pulled it back, Sunny could do nothing. CRACK! Her skinny arm snapped like a twig, and suddenly Sunny's entire world went white hot with pain. She had never felt anything like it ever. Sunny had never experienced much hardship, especially not true physical pain, and the agony of the break left her screaming. A pure shriek of pain and agony, childish, but also utterly pure pain, like a yelping kitten that had just had its tail stood on. It would of been a sweet victory for Evelyn, but unfortunately something else happened. With Sunny's arm broken and her mind focused entirely on the unbearable agony, her concentration was shattered. Suddenly, and it would of felt obvious, she stopped accelerating upwards. And then, moments later, she was falling, cape and miniskirt fluttering around her in a manner that was hugely undignified, as the pair of them plummeted back down towards the Earth, and a doubtlessly very fatal landing, unless Sunny could get her mind together and concentrate through the blaring pain... Which seemed unlikely because at the moment all she was doing was screaming and crying... Evelyn Winters "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" ulla [/quote]

That crack was more than satisfying, and her screams of pain were the cherry on top. It was a delight to see the flesh bend in twist in ways it was never supposed to. She felt powerful. She let Sunny’s arm go slack. “Isn’t it nice,” she said, bending forward, speaking directly into her ear, “to finally feel something real.” There was something cathartic to causing her this pain. Like it made her own so much more tolerable. Like it provided some kind of excuse, some explanation for what she endured. It didn’t, of course, but that’s what it felt like in the moment, and that’s all that really mattered.
Her celebration was interrupted when she realized they’d begun falling. She thought, perhaps, that Sunny would catch herself, but that quickly seemed like it wasn’t going to be the case. At this height, the impact would kill them both instantly. Evelyn was by no means ready to die. Not with so much left to avenge. And there was no way this idiotic woman would be the cause of her death.
Certain powers, as far as she understood, required a deal of concentration, and she had no doubt that something as powerful and complicated as Sunny’s abilities required a great deal of it. The pain must’ve disrupted her attention. That left Evelyn with only one option for survival: she needed to help Sunny regain her focus.
Evelyn knew quite a bit about finding focus in the face of pain. She endured months of torture without ever allowing herself a single facial twitch, even as they pulled off her fingers and took a chainsaw to her leg. She walked half a mile on a single broken leg, supported only by an improvised crutch in the form of a splintered slab of wood. She knew much about controlling herself while in a great deal of pain; a much greater deal than Sunny here. Now all she had to do was somehow impart her knowledge through the thick skull of this absolute halfwit of a human being.
“Listen to me and listen close.” She spoke directly in her ear in an even, unemotional voice. ”Remove yourself from your pain. Separate your mind from your body. You are not your pain and you will not be controlled by it. Focus all your being into your powers and fly before we both end up a smudge on the concrete.”

"AHHHH!" Red Carpet Times! The pain was unreal to Sunny. She literally wasn't equipped to handle it. In her perfect little pink perfumed world, she had never experienced anything even resembling this level of agony. The only thing that kept her conscious was the roaring wind as the two plummeted out of the sky, her dark pink cape fluttering around them, like an incredibly girly, perfumed blanket, that only served to block out the impending impact with the ground below. She was in so much pain that she missed Evelyn's initial taunt, which was probably a shame, as she raised a good point, and had Sunny had any real life experience at this point, she might of been better equipped to handle it, but she was more than aware when Evelyn started to talk about how they were about to die. Sunny knew that she was right, she was trying to focus, but she couldn't think about anything but the pain, how every time she caught a glimpse of her flapping arm (which as they fell only hurt more) she felt physically queasy. She was sure she was going to throw up any second. But she had to try. She had to try and not think about the pain. Just for a moment she had to focus on her ability to fly. She tried, she tried to feel that power that otherwise came so naturally to her... For a moment, she jolted, slowing a little, before speeding up again. God, it hurt so much. She just couldn't focus. She tried to block out the agony, to try and not think about it, and she realised slowly that she could, just about. For brief moments, she could halt their descent. If she timed it right, she could stop herself just above the ground and manage a landing... But her attacker would go splat if she did that. Which Sunny didn't really see as a bad thing. That girl had broken her arm. Sure, she was meant to be the 'good' superhero, but she could just tell people that she had TRIED to save her and failed. Nobody would complain or question it. Besides, it wasn't like she had killed her herself or anything. She had brought this on all on her own by hurting her while they were flying... But somehow, through the fog of all the pain and the panic over the fact they were about to die, Sunny realised that if she did that, then it really was all a lie. She knew she wasn't the typical superhero type, that sometimes she was more concerned about other things, but she also believed that in her heart, she was a true superhero. When she needed to be, she always stepped up and did the hero thing (even if she made sure she was glamorous and beautiful while doing it). If she let this attacker die, she wouldn't be that anymore. She'd always know in her heart that she was a fraud. That when faced with a difficult choice, she hadn't taken the path of the hero. She couldn't do that. The realisation gave her the clarity and concentration to activate one of her powers, but not more than one. "I... I can't fly and protect myself with my gravity field!" She yelled back, realising now that she could do one or the other, but not both. "That means... I can't... carry you!" Although her gravity field didn't give her super strength or anything, it did make her a basic immovable object, so hanging off of her would be like hanging off a block of concrete. But without it? She was an 80 pound weakling who wouldn't have the strength to hold Evelyn at all. "You're gonna... have to really hold on. I'm not strong enough to help." She admitted, and then, she closed her eyes, and she did everything she could to focus. Just above the ground, she managed to slow their descent, defying gravity's laws to slow herself right down. Her entire body screamed in pain, not only did her arm hurt, but where Evelyn was clinging to her body without her defences, her weak muscles screamed in protest, but she managed to just about stop them a few feet above the ground, before they both dropped on to the concrete, mostly safely, although Sunny instantly collapsed and laid on her back, groaning and crying in agony, mascara streaming down her face with her tears... This was hopeless. Sunny was going to crash there was no way around it. Her tiny brain couldn’t possibly focus like Evelyn was instructing it to. She should’ve seen expected this outcome. Stupid. She got caught up in the moment. She was too focused on hurting Sunny to think of the consequences of her actions. Stupid stupid stupid. No time to linger in the past though. No, now was the time to act.
There was no way she was going to die.
She looked around, trying to see if there were any buildings nearby she could jump to. To her dismay, there was nothing in reach. She reminded herself to finally get around to building that grappling hook. Not that this reminder was of any use in the present. She needed a plan and she needed one fast.
She regained a bit of hope as Sunny jolted and started to slow. That hope was dashed, however, as she quickly regained her descent.
“God, wouldn’t this be a dumb way to die.” She looked over to see Axel falling alongside her, laying casually on his back with his hand behind his head. “The predator killed by the stupidity of their prey.”
The ground was approaching fast. It was now that she accepted she had one option and one option only: she had to trust Sunny. The thought revolted her, but it was all she could do. She felt helpless, and this scared her, and her fear enraged her. Sunny would pay for this when they landed. When, not if. There could not be an if because an if would mean she would accept the possibility of her own death. She absolutely refused to do such a thing.
It occurred to her that when Sunny landed, she could just catch herself and let Evelyn fall. Evelyn could be killed by Sunny Slater.
“There’s no way you’re dying like that, are you?” Axel grinned at her, his golden eye gleaming. No, there wasn’t. Maybe if she jumped off at just the right time…
Her train of thought was cut off as Sunny spoke. It sounded like she wanted to save her. Looked like some of that idiotic Hero mentality had stuck after all. ”No problem.” She replied calmly. She could hold on very tight. If she could climb up a twenty story tall oak tree with little effort, she could hold on to this tiny woman with no effort at all.
Amazingly, the woman started to decelerate, the ground approached slower and slower. She could feel Sunny straining under her weight which gave back some of the power she’d been sorely missing during their descent. As soon as Sunny stopped a couple feet above the air, Evelyn hopped off. Sunny followed soon after her.
Evelyn smirked inwardly at the sniveling little mess that lay before her. Her prey lay prone, physically and emotionally.
Axel walked up beside her and put a hand on her shoulder, smirking along with her. “You know what to do. Time to play the part!”
Evelyn walked carefully over to the whimpering Sunny on the ground, a look of concern and appreciation plastered on her face. It felt unnatural but she knew it looked far more natural than her typical facial expression. ”You saved me! I can’t believe it, you saved me!” She expressed with gratitude in her voice, eschewing her monotone. ”Look, I’m sorry for before, I was just following orders. I didn’t want to hurt you, I promise. Here, let me help you.” She moved to help Sunny up.
Mercy. What an exploitable human weakness.

"AHHHH!" Red Carpet Times! Sunny lay on her back, wimpering and groaning, still in too much pain to really acknowledge what was going on around her. There were some observers still snapping photos, the type of thing that would normally leave Sunny aghast, but the coddled and naive girl was too focused on the agony she was in to be able to be aware of it. What was interesting and something Sunny was currently unaware of however was they weren't mocking her, but people were looking on with concern and admiration. Sunny always thought making yourself look perfect was the most important thing in the world, but people were seeing her for the first time not as a popularity obsessed celebrity, but somebody who had put herself in real danger (and taken real injury) trying to protect her fans. Sunny would never of imagined it happening, but people were actually admiring her for being so badly beaten trying to protect people. The girl approached, apparently thrilled that Sunny had saved her. For a moment, Sunny allowed herself a smile. For all her flaws and love of the spotlight, Sunny still liked being a good person, and hearing she had saved somebody made her feel good inside, until she realised who the speaker was. Her own assailant. She had saved her, sure, but she had saved her from a danger they had only been in because she broke her arm! She was also claiming that she had been controlled. Sunny heard the words, and like with most people, her inclination was to believe them. Sunny was terribly naive, and always believed people, although there was a nagging thought at the back of her head. She couldn't place or understand it, but she'd seen those eyes when the girl had been attacking. Part of her knew there was no mercy or love there. But Sunny couldn't quite process this and understand it properly, and so tentatively reached out to accept her help. "You're, like, still gonna have to be arrested. You killed those people!" She said, realising no matter what, this was now an issue for the police. Evelyn Winters "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" ulla

Evelyn swelled up with confidence when she noticed she was garnering a crowd. An audience for her performance. Still, she couldn’t help but notice with some disdain that the crowd seemed to be admiring Sunny. Evelyn was aiming more for humiliation, but that was more the icing on the cake, and she could do without the icing. She just wanted Sunny to feel pain, and so far mission accomplished, but she wasn’t done yet.
She heard a giggling to her left when Sunny smiled at her, a sentiment that matched her own inward smile. What a naive little ditz. If anyone could buy her performance, it would be her.
“Oh come on, don’t sell yourself short, look around, the whole audience is buying it.” Axel grinned.
She looked around, and sure enough, the crowd seemed enraptured in this assailant-turned-worshipper, snapping photos, feeling safe enough to stick around. Or maybe they were just stupid enough. Evelyn was never a great performer. She was better than the average person, of course. In order to even remotely blend in she had to pretend. Her brother, however, outperformed her by leagues. He wore a different personality like he wore a different shirt. Thus, he was a fantastic teacher, but in terms of acting she was always in his shadow.
Now, however, he had no shadow to cast. She had to perform for the both of them.
“We’ll deal with that when we have to.” She spoke softly as she helped Sunny up. ”Look, I’ll explain everything later, but right now we have to get you to safety. You’re not safe out here.” She looked around frantically, as if searching for assailants. ”We have to get going.” She said urgently.
“Here, let me just set your arm into place.” Grabbing her arm, she suddenly and violently twisted it, aiming to distract her with an immense amount of pain as she, with great speed, pulled out a knife and nonlethally shoved it into her abdomen. She would turn that pink red no matter what it took.

"AHHHH!" Red Carpet Times! Sunny struggled to her feet with the girl's help, uneasily wobbling in those stiletto boots of her's, but at least back on her feet. Sunny wasn't sure why this girl felt she wasn't safe out here, despite her pain Sunny could still fly if she had to and had her gravity field right, but the girl herself seemed really spooked, and it made Sunny's heart break. Despite the fact this girl had tried to kill her, Sunny sympathised, and wanted to help. This girl did seem genuinely spooked, and Sunny was falling for her act completely. The only moment that nearly ruined Evelyn's plans was that she had underestimated how much of a physical wimp Sunny was, so when she said she was going to 'set' her arm, for a moment Sunny recoiled, afraid of the pain and not wanting to face it. Had the moment lasted a little longer, Sunny might of freaked out and backed away, but unfortunately, Evelyn was too quick for her. Sunny screamed in agony as her arm was twisted, and before she could blink, the knife entered her abdomen. Suddenly, Sunny felt like the entire world around her disappeared as she looked down, red blood flowing from her stomach, staining that pink costume of her's red just as Evelyn had so hoped. Sunny staggered back, not quite screaming, not quite feeling the pain yet, just in utter shock, before she lost her footing (thanks to those heels again) and fell down on to the tarmac. She was suddenly aware that she felt cold, clammy, that she felt like her entire body was fading. Every muscle felt heavy and she felt so tired. So exhausted. She continued to breath hard, in shock, as the blood flowed from the open wound, staining her cape and the tarmac red. She would of been an easy target to finish off, but the gathered crowd was watching. Several police officers broke through, levelling pistols, and she was aware of people closing in around her, to protect her, to try and stop the bleeding, as slowly she slipped in to the cold, comfortable blackness of unconsciousness...
