Taliah Dawson
These shades are gucci Feeling like a ten, the best I've ever been Perhaps had things not taken the rather unexpected turn that they had the revelation that she might be on the brink of becoming unemployed might have found its mark on a more apathetic Taliah. However, as it stood with her side hustle struggling to stay afloat, losing her job was likely to be far more than a minor nuisance to the brunette despite the fact that she wasn't overly fond of the gig to begin with. An exasperated sigh filtered through the waitress's lips as she replied a bit sourly "Yeah, it's a crap job but it pays the bills. I haven't been the most punctual employee as of late, so if I am not on time today then my boss will totally flip out."
As Taliah retrieved the lighter from the supplier the twenty three year old realized that she had likely oversold the severity of her situation. Would her boss lose his sh*t if she was late one more time? Absolutely. Could she "change" his mind about letting her go? Well, it had worked the last time she had found herself in this predicament so there was no reason to think that it wouldn't again. Liah's thumb rolled along the sparkwheel of the lighter and smashed down on the button invoking a brilliant flame that was instantly extinguished by the wind for the second time prompting Liah to mutter "Oh, for the love of..."
Taliah's third attempt proved to be successful. Bringing the joint to her lips with one hand, Liah offered the lighter back to its owner with her free hand. As she took a long drag from the joint, the supplier took that moment to explain the uniqueness of her particular strain of marijuana. It would seem that the younger girl had managed to tackle a common complaint of chronic weed smokers which was that dependent upon one's constitution it took far too long to achieve a high. Of course this was an issue that most dealers weren't too bothered with remedying as it translated into additional sales. If it took longer to get high it meant a customer smoked more joints and depleted their supply faster.
There were some particularly shady dealers that deliberately sold weaker strains just for this purpose. An unscrupulous tactic, but very much effective. As a billow of smoke permeated the air around her, Taliah felt a wave of relaxation washing over her. A sigh of contentment escaped her throat as she responded "It's deceptively strong for such a small batch. Most people who try to strengthen it end up lacing it with stuff that will leave you effed up in all the wrong ways, but this seems pretty clean. I'm impressed. What do you call this, anyway?"
Small talk had never been one of Liah's strong suits but as she took another quick hit from the joint to experience yet another wave of tranquility, the young woman was beginning to feel a bit more social as she answered "Off and on for a couple of years. It was mostly just to have a bit of pocket change for a while. I had planned on going full time but then they had to go and legalize my top selling product so I've had to rethink my approach to stay profitable.To be honest, I barely even stock up on it anymore. Opiods are what are really selling these days."
The brunette blew out a ring of smoke before adding "Not gonna lie. I was on the fence about it. Nothing against you of course. I have just had it be a major hassle in the past, but I am glad that my curiosity won out because you may really have something here. So, how long have you been thinking about becoming a supplier? Do you just do weed or have you considered branching out?" Words: ## || Tagged: @ || Outfit || Notes

These shades are gucci Feeling like a ten, the best I've ever been Taliah had made peace some time ago with the fact that requesting to partake of the product before committing to the sale would not always go over well with every supplier. While some would simply refuse the request, gather their belongings and storm out in a huff, others still would become quite indignant unleashing a barrage of obscenities in an fruitless attempt to bully her into taking the batch. Neither of these reactions seemed to faze the twenty three year old as they simply provided her with confirmation regarding their lack of professionalism and inferior product quality. Being that the duchess had offered her a sample batch right away as opposed to trying to push her entire stash, Taliah had no reason to suspect that the younger girl would feel slighted.
However, it would seem that her potential new business partner was quite distracted as she broke eye contact with her allowing her gaze to drift to the speakers which it seemed had concluded their message. As her associate's dark orbs finally returned to her face, Taliah notes that the younger woman's expression of bewilderment matched her own. Nodding in response to the duchess's inquiry Liah replied "Yeah. I missed most of what was said, but I am pretty sure that I hear the word debris in there somewhere." Duchess's brows then furrowed in a manner that somehow made Taliah want to go "awww" even though such verbalization was wholly out of character for her.
Before she could say much more, her young cohort leaped from the bench crying out her discontent as she did so. Perhaps her befuddlement was evident on her face as to why the duchess was suddenly so displeased as the supplier took a moment to rationalize her thoughts aloud. It took a moment for the brunette's words to register but once they had Taliah's eyes widened as she exclaimed "Are you kidding me?" An exasperated sigh passed through the dealer's lips as the duchess instructed for her to wait there. Where the hell am I going to go, Taliah thought to herself sourly as she cast an expectant glance to the train tracks which only seemed to confirm what they likely both expected.
"God, I hope so," Taliah replied as the young woman turned away from her and made her way back down the platform. Annoyed, Liah dug her phone out of her pocket uttering a groan of frustration as she noted that the device didn't display any bars. "Of course....Of course, I have no signal," she muttered. Just as she shoved the phone back into her pocket, Duchess returned with joint in hand to confirm that they were indeed stuck her for an undetermined amount of time.
As she offered her a joint, Taliah nodded responded "Might as well. since it looks like I might just be getting fired today." Words: ## || Tagged: @ || Outfit || Notes

Words can't hurt me
Taliah Dawson
These shades are gucci Feeling like a ten, the best I've ever been Taliah wasn't quite sure just what she had expected "The Duchess" to look like, but the girl that had claimed the title was not only a few years her junior but rather unassuming in both appearance and demeanor. She imagined that in her line of business many might instantly regard the brunette as a non threat, particularly her male counterparts. It was a scenario, that the twenty three year old herself was all too familiar with and perhaps it was for that reason that Liah suspected that there was much more to her potential business partner than met the eye. As was always the case with the brash young woman, Taliah realized perhaps a moment too late how snarky her response may have come off. With the duchess's facial expression remaining as amiable as it had been when she'd first been greeted by the dark-haired supplier, there was no true way to know what kind of thoughts were resting behind that friendly smile.
As her cohort predicted a progression of this inclement weather that didn't stand to benefit either of them, Taliah frowned. Just as she had parted her lips to respond, a gust of wind picked up whipping her dark mane into a frenzy. Agitated, Taliah lifted a hand to her wind blown tresses trying to smooth the unruly strands back into place as she replied "Yeah, it definitely going to get worse before it gets better and that's if it gets better at all." As they reached the alcove, much to Taliah's relief there appeared to be just enough lull in the wind for her hair to settle back down. Liah fell in step with her associate as the younger girl made her way to a littered bench tucked away in the corner of the platform. It was clear that since this area of the station wasn't frequently utilized that maintenance hadn't even bothered to keep it tidy.
The tip of the waitresses's nose tilted up in disgust as she brushed away a few more cigarette butts and lowered herself onto the bench in the empty space that the duchess had left beside her. Not wasting a moment's time, the brunette tugged a bag from her shoulder and pulled it into her lap. Taliah suspected that this was hardly the brunette's first rodeo as she only partially unzipped the bag making it rather difficult for her to see the whole of the girl's supply. As this was their first time associating with one another Liah could understand the need to exercise caution, however she did hope that should they do business in the future that there would no longer be a need for such secrecy. The batch that the duchess offered her was much smaller than she had expected which could only mean that it was intended for sampling as opposed to distribution.
For the first time since their introduction, a genuine smile crossed the West Indian's face. Nodding, Taliah responded "No, I've been burned by that before. Nowadays, I prefer to try before I buy. I know alot of dealers don't but I want to be able to stand behind what I sell. If I don't like it, then I know that they will hate it. They don't really like change and..."
Taliah broke off mid sentence as a voice blared through the PA system prompting her to lift her gaze towards the speakers questioningly. Turning back towards the duchess Taliah questioned "Did you catch that? I think he said something about debris..."

Words can't hurt me Taliah Dawson These shades are gucci Feeling like a ten, the best I've ever been Taliah struggled to stifle the yawn that was welling up in her throat even as she lifted a perfectly manicured hand to rub her weary ocher orbs. Gods, she was exhausted. These late night shifts would be the death of her, Liah mused to herself as her gaze flitted past a group of passerbys. Tucking her chin into her chest as a piercing wind penetrated her thin North face jacket with ease, Liah shuffled onward. Initially, the brunette had taken the position as a waitress as a means to an end for supporting her family. However, several years in and Taliah had grown discontented with being overworked, underpaid, and daily objectified.
The more that she tried to make a regular nine to five work, the more that Taliah began to realize that she simply wasn't cut out for that kind of lifestyle. Everyone she knew that worked a "regular" job were simply making ends meet and the brunette wanted so much more than that. She wanted to be stable...comfortable even and all that she'd done this far had been in dogged pursuit of that goal. In fact, it was for that very reason that she'd even started dealing in the first place. Selling weed had never been a short term endeavor in the young woman's mind as she'd hope to make a lucrative enough profit that she'd be able to replace her full time income.
Of course there was no way that she could have known then that her state would actually legalize marijuana for recreational use. The announcement had come as quite a shock to her and one hell of a blow to her sales forcing Taliah to expand her offerings in an attempt to mitigate the damage. Nowadays, it seemed that the smoked far more weed than she sold. While she was certain that the bad batch she'd received from her former supplier had certainly played a part in the decline in sales from her regulars, Taliah had also drawn another conclusion. The dispensaries simply possessed more variety than your standard dime bag.
In order to remain competitive Taliah would need a superior product. One that could produce a more substantial high than regular weed. Which was what had prompted Liah to accept this meeting with the one they called "The Dutchess." Although the petite waitress was beginning to suspect that she had in fact been stood up. She had been just about to turn around and leave when a voice piped up from her right inquiring as to whom she was seeking. Had her befuddlement been that obvious, Taliah wondered. Almost immediately her defenses were up as she turned to face the owner of the voice.
The young woman that had spoken to her actually favored her somewhat, which Liah found intriguing. Of course her own West Indian features were much more pronounced. With a casual shrug and a smile that was more friendly in appearance than sincerity, Taliah replied "Depends on whether or not I've found her."Her new potential business partner didn't outright confirm her identity, but something told the twenty three year old that confirmation wasn't really needed as she suggested that they continue their conversation around the back of the building.
Nodding Taliah shoved her hands into her pocket, wondering how it was that she could have missed the entire block of the platform that seemed completely deserted for the most part. While the declaration that they were unlikely to be disturbed while conducting their business was indeed welcome news, Liah found the location to far more enticing as a destination in which they could escape the brunt of this callous wind. "You may have a point there. It's probably a hell of a lot easier to talk if we aren't being thrown all over the platform by this vicious ass wind." Words: ## || Tagged: @ || Outfit || Notes

Words can't hurt me Taliah Dawson These shades are gucci Feeling like a ten, the best I've ever been To say that Taliah was vexed would be a gross understatement. Although the brunette was forced to admit, at least to herself anyway that she was partially to blame for her current state of agitation. Having traveled the path of trying to survive while still under the roof of an incapacitated parent, Liah had perhaps sympathized a little too much with the plight of her best friend's cousin which had led to her agreeing to take him on as a supplier. With him still being quite green, his prices were quite affordable and the first batch that she'd partaken of had been satisfactory. However, the second batch was awful placing her in a precarious situation with her regulars.
While her business could easily withstand the financial losses that accompanied a decrease in demand, it was the tarnishing of her reputation that angered Liah the most. Still, the petite twenty three year old supposed that she couldn't be but so angry. After all, she did get back the money she paid him for her supply, the young woman thought to herself with a sinister grin. Still, the whole ordeal had left her not only having to rebuild her reputation and re establishing faith with her clientele but also in desperate need of a new supplier. Which was precisely what had drawn Taliah from the comfort of her home on this blustery day.
Of all the places that the pair could have met up, her potential new business partner had chosen above all... a train station. It was certainly inconspicuous enough that they were likely to be left alone to conduct their business, but still an odd location, Taliah thought to herself as she flipped the hood of her north face jacket over her head and trudged on towards the platform that she'd been given. It was then that Taliah realized that she had no idea whom she was looking for. ""Sh*t", she wore under her breath as her gaze swept the length of the platform. HAIR // Black[break] EYES // Nut brown but can sometimes appear hazel depending on the lighting[break] SKIN // Sun-kissed complexion with a radiant, youthful glow as a result of her obsessive skin care regimen[break][break]
ATTIRE[break][break] That girl who possesses a natural swag that just seems to ooze out of every pore. The one whom was known for having a bad attitude that you were a little afraid of yet still wanted to befriend? That chick that sat at a lunch table in high school with a group of boys because she had few female friends as a result of her inability to relate to other girls? That would be Liah. Liah has managed to successfully merge her preference for comfort with her desire to be trendy when it comes to urban fashion. Ripped skinny jeans, slashed leggings, denim jackets, bomber jackets, uggs, and hoop earrings are all staples in her wardrobe.
[break][break]A dressed down day which is typically a day that she's either heading to or from the gym will see her wearing a pair of high rise yoga pants with a coordinating sports bra and a waist length hooded jacket that is typically left standing open as she is rather hot natured. When lounging around the house Liah is more likely found to be wearing an off the shoulder shirt or sweatshirt with a pair of leggings. Liah is quite serious about accessorizing and as such has a penchant for gaudy, flashy jewelry that she somehow manages to make work.Seemingly having an aversion to shoes, Liah is almost always barefoot when at home.[break][break]
GENERAL
[break][break]Liah is mostly of West Indian descent with small percentages of African American and Caucasian. Her thick raven locks are naturally wavy and tend to take several hours to straighten in order to achieve the silky straight tresses that she desires. Liah has a tendency to grow bored easily when it comes to her look and often experiments with her hair color with blond being the most radical choice thus far. With the exception of her mother refers to as her "punk" phase in which she shaved half of her head, Taliah never cuts her hair above her shoulders. Liah's eyes are a point of contention to many as some refer to them as nut brown while others would consider them a chocolate brown. Yet the most observant people have noted that in the right lighting flecks of green can be seen which gives her otherwise dark orbs the appearance of being hazel.
[break][break]Taliah has tan skin with golden undertones that deepen in the summer months and lighten drastically enough during the winter to make her skin tone nearly olive. Taliah is rather sub conscious about how pale her skin becomes during the cold season as some have indicate that she almost looks sickly during that time that she tends to rely much more on bronzer and highlighter makeup. Standing slightly taller than average at 5'6 , Taliah has a slender figure with delicate curves.
[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]PERSONALITY [attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Unyieldingly loyal and fiercely protective, Taliah is actually far more nurturing in nature than her rough exterior would suggest. However, this aspect of her personality is exclusively reserved for her siblings. With a mother that was physically present but both mentally and emotionally absent most life lessons Talilah learned on her own and typically the hard way. Liah takes great pride in her independence and self reliance but doesn't seem to realize how difficult she makes it for those who would seek to take care of her. This is most likely because she herself has always been the one to take care of others. [break][break] More street savvy than book smart, Taliah is still nevertheless quite a clever girl. Liah mentally resides in a very gray world in which very few things are black and white. While she is well aware of wrong and right, Taliah is a firm believer than something wrong done for the right reasons will eventually balance out cosmically. While she does have the capacity for forgiveness forgetting a transgression is another matter altogether as Taliah tends to hold grudges. Unless backed into a corner and given no other choice, Liah will avoid conversations of real emotional depth at any cost. Taliah's deeply guarded nature often gives the impression that she is mean or standoffish which has earned her the reputation of having a bad attitude. [break][break] In actuality, Taliah is typically rather laid back unless you are disrespectful towards her or her siblings. When provoked Liah has a terrible temper and can be quite difficult to calm. Taliah is nothing if not impulsive which can at times lead her into the stickiest of situations. She is unapologetically vindictive when crossed and has virtually no respect for authority figures. More of a leader than a follower, Taliah is quite ambitious and is very much self motivated. When it comes to getting what she wants, Liah is as tenacious as they come. More than a little headstrong, attempting to change her mind when it is made up is utterly fruitless. [break][break] With a rather checkered past of her own one will find Taliah to be refreshingly non-judgmental. She is admittedly a bit bossy and has a tendency to butt into the affairs of her friends and sisters without really meaning to as a side effect of her ability.
[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]HISTORY [attr="class","hopelovetop"]
When Anya met Jaheim: Anya Chantale King, a senior at James A Garfield High school in East Los Angeles meets Jaheim Dawson, a charismatic football player with dreams of going pro. Discovered similarities in their cultural backgrounds and instant chemistry forged a strong bond between the pair and they began dating. Six months later, an enamored Jaheim presents Anya with a promise ring indicating his intention to propose at a later date. Four months later, to the dismay of the couple's parents Jaheim proposes on graduation night. Against the wishes of both set of parents, the couple were wed by a justice of the peace that summer. [break][break] Dream Deferred :What was initially believed to be a minor injury sustained during his final year of high school turned out to be major enough to dash Jaheim's dreams of playing the sport professionally. With a new wife to take care of Jaheim took on two minimal wage jobs while Anya continued to work as a sales clerk at a department store. Even with their wages combined, the couple could only manage to secure a small studio apartment. To further complicate matters, a few months later Anya discovered that she was with child. The revelation that his family was growing prompted Jaheim to apply for the open managerial position at the pizza place he had been working at. As it turns out the additional mouth to feed that Jaheim had anticipated turned out to be two as a sonogram soon revealed that Anya was pregnant with twins.Four and a half months later two beautiful song girls were born in which they named Taliah and Tanice. [break][break] It's a hard knock life: Despite the fact that the family of four didn't have a lot of money and sometimes could barely make ends meet, nevertheless they were still quite happy. There was a lot of love between Jaheim and Anya and the bond between the twins was as much mystifying as it was heartwarming. The abundance of love eventually led to the conception and birth of their final child Tanya. With one vehicle and three small children, it soon became clear that Anya working outside the home was no longer a feasible option. With the loss of their secondary income money grew even tighter forcing the family to rely on government assistance. [break][break] Life Upended: While Jaheim was delighted at Tanya's birth, the new arrival presented a greater challenge financially to the already struggling couple. He worried about the rundown and wholly unsafe neighborhood that he was raising his children in and sought to move them to a safer environment. To that end, Jaheim took a second job as a package handler of a delivery service. The additional job meant more money but less quality time with his family which eventually began to take a toll on his relationship with his wife. While Anya never said anything, Jaheim knew that his not being around as much and leaving her to be with the kids all the time was wearing on her. One night on his way home from work, Jaheim decided to stop at a local convenience store a few block from their home to grab some flowers for his wife. While he was evaluating the floral arrangements, a masked man burst into the establishment and proceeded to rob it. The store clerk fought back and grappled with the robber for his gun. Seeing a young girl nearby, Jaheim's paternal instinct kicked in . Jaheim pushed the girl to the floor and shielded her with his body as the gun accidentally went off, firing several rounds with one hitting Jaheim in the chest. [break][break] The aftermath: Jaheim's death hit Anya quite hard as it left her with very little funds and with three children to raise. Eventually, Anya found her comfort at the bottom of a bottle as drinking both dulled the pain of the loss as well as somewhat suppressed the intensity of her ability. During the day Anya worked as a hair stylist from her home and at night typically drank herself into a stupor. Her mother's instability forced Taliah into the role of a parent to both her little sisters as well as her mother. Concerned about their continued survival, Taliah got a part time job after school to help out with the household finances.However, between caring for her siblings, trying to keep her mother from drinking herself into a coma, and working late nights, Taliah's grades began to fall. Determined to not leave her sister behind as she graduated high school, Tanice dedicated her nights and weekends to tutoring her twin helping her to finish school with a C average. [break][break] On her own: After graduating high school, Taliah and Tanice moved into a small 2 bedroom apartment. With Tanice having been the more studious of the pair, her twin had managed to get a job as a receptionist at a dental office during the day while she took classes at a community college at night. Talilah works as a waitress at a sports bar during the day and sells weed intermittedly to get by in between checks. While her checks from the bar went towards her own household expenses, the money from her drug sales went towards the bills at her mother's home as her baby sister still resided there. However, all support for fear mother ceased when Tanya graduated and started college. Taliah's mother has recently been in touch with Taliah claiming to have cleaned her life up but Liah can't seem to bring herself to let her mother back in her life.
[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]POWER [attr="class","hopelovetop"][attr="class","hopelovesub"]
ABILITY[break][break] Collective: An advanced form of telepathy, Taliah is able to create a stable telepathic connection with not just one but with a group of people. The individuals linked through this telepathic connection will be able to share anything that passes through their neurological synapses such as sensations, emotions, thoughts, and memories. Taliah's collective ability allows her to maintain an undetectable line of communication with whomever she wishes. Taliah can initiate and redact this connection at will, however initiating is far more seemless in those that she is already close to. [break][break] Persuasion: Another branch of Telepathy, Taliah is able to suppress one's will to resist or disobey her desires. This is accomplished by manipulating the synaptic activity in the prefrontal cortex which alters her victim's will. The unfortunate target of Liah's persuasion will find themselves unable to separate their thoughts and desires from those of Taliah's and will feel compelled to do whatever she asks. As her victim will firmly believe that any action he/she undertakes will be of their own will, they are highly unlikely to consider the negative repercussions.[break][break] LIMITS[break][break] Collective: Taliah is unable to manipulate those with whom she is telepathically linked. i.e Persuasion is nullified while Collective is activated or in use. She cannot control what she shares with others during this time nor can she control what is shared with her. When linked with more than five people at one time Taliah can become overwhelmed by all the mental traffic. When this happens if she doesn't gain control of herself quickly, she can risk trapping all linked to her within the connection. [break][break] Persuasion: Taliah's persuasion isn't nearly as absolute as it might seem. A victim whom is particularly self assured or strong willed may be able to combat it's implementation by finding loopholes in the wording of her command. To that end, Taliah's persuasion is not effective when attempting to persuade a victim to do something that is in direct violation of their moral code. i.e. She can't persuade a pro life supporter to have an abortion, can't persuade a devout Christian to engage in pre marital sex and etc.[break][break]
WEAKNESSES[break][break] Maintaining an unfiltered mental connection with other people tends to be extraordinarily draining for Taliah, particularly if the connection has sustained for a while. Once she's severed the link, Liah will typically require some time to decompress in which she will in essence lock herself away from the world by spending her time in as quiet of a space as possible with all electronic devices turned off. Taliah is able to create a link with 6 or 7 people at a time, however doing so usually results in Liah becomes overwhelmed by the torrent of thoughts, emotions, and sensations hitting her all at once which leads to her brain activity becoming abnormal leaving her prone to epileptic seizures. These epileptic episodes are focal onset aware seizures in which she becomes extremely dizzy and her senses are drastically altered. i.e. She could temporarily become blinded with her hearing heightened to the point of extreme discomfort or feel numbness in her hands and fingertips. In the most extreme of cases she will begin to tremble uncontrollably for several minutes. [break][break]
