'Or something', she said. Well, he'd just go ahead and take that as a 'yes', for as much as he really cared to know about the specifics. At that next statement of hers, though, his ears could hardly help but flick slightly; most of all in just general annoyance. Never mind his eyes narrowing slightly in a very similar fashion... plus the display of very sharp fangs as his lips likewise curled back a little.
"That'd make ya a 'super', then, right? Ain't a 'normal' person I've seen that's gonna threaten a guy like me without somethin' in mind," Ollie huffed. What kind of power she might've had, then... well, it was impossible to say. Unlike him, the rest of them mostly looked normal, with no way of telling what they did. Among other places, he'd certainly gotten the short end of the stick there.
"So what now? Ya gonna try an' get rid of me or somethin'? Or ya gonna handle this better than your goons out there did scarin' the shopkeep an' decidin' to pull those guns of theirs out? Your play, lady," he asked, otherwise staying where he was, quite still but for the ever-alert flickering of his ears. If anyone did try anything, he very much intended to be the first to know about it.

Foreign... somewhere from overseas, that language was, but there was no chance Ollie was going to try and place it. Maybe if he'd ended up staying in high school for another year or two... but it was a bit late for that, wasn't it? Ever since that 'event' that made him have to bail on everything... well, point was, he didn't understand a word, anyway. Whoever it was, though, it appeared they were some sort of big shot, or something. Maybe not something he needed... but he wasn't the one that started things here. Probably... Still, the fox boy's ears curiously flicked a little beneath the hood at the sudden smack to the back of the man's head, his eyes glancing after him for a moment before returning to this... whoever this woman was. Some sort of foreigner, he could only guess. "That's one way to put it. Whether ya mean dealin' with your men here, or the fur," he replied, a cool expression worn on that distinctly fox-like face for now; a fair bit better than the glare he'd been giving the men before, certainly, but still not much a fan of any of this. "So who're you supposed to be, then? Some sorta mob boss controllin' the area, or somethin'?" he asked, with a curious little quirk of his head. Well, he wasn't judging, at least; he'd been on the streets long enough to hear about plenty such activity, especially with all the powers people tended to have nowadays, but he couldn't necessarily name names. Yet. "Ain't gonna say I really give one... but if this is what I'm gonna be expectin' to see 'round here, I wanna at least know what's goin' on. An' I'm not takin' some non-answer like some mob types like to give," he half-insisted. Sonnet Matsuda

Some days, Ollie supposed... just weren't good for him. The mood was all but shot thanks to various things, he'd already dealt with at least one person that had gotten on him about his appearance -- as, perhaps, denoted by a bit of a scratch on his shoulder -- and all he'd really wanted was just... a bit of quiet. A simple little corner shop that he occasionally stopped by, that he didn't often catch too many people at, at least not for this time of day.
How 'lucky', then, that he had to choose a time for a... what, shakedown? Something like that, from how it looked to him. Mob guys of some sort, maybe, that he thought he might've vaguely recognized seeing around, but it didn't really matter, did it? Not more than a few sentences into the little exchange that he barely even paid attention to beyond it sounding like some sort of 'protection' racket, all it really took was a bit of a low growl from the rather fox-like boy to quickly draw the men's alert, Ollie himself noting how at least one of them reached for the bottom of their jacket.
Also wasn't much helping for the slight, annoyed twitch of his ears that he had to catch the sudden shout from behind the counter as soon as the worker themselves saw the gun and ducked down to hide, in case anything more was going to happen... nor that a stray like him wasn't some known hero or anything silly like that, just some guy on the streets. "Yeah? Try it. Ain't a thing you're gonna be hitting," the boy dared... maybe not the best plan to get tensions running a bit higher, he mused, since it would be the sound of the bell by the door next that would have the man start to draw his gun in alert.
Sure, the stray was no hero, but at least he could ignore the shout from the other man as Ollie himself charged forward. All he had to do was swipe his claws at the arm holding the gun, almost naturally sending a bullet into the ground. Well, the shopkeeper could worry about that little detail later; in all truth, though, Ollie wasn't wholly certain what came next. Were he to be honest, he didn't usually do this sort of thing, if he could just keep out of it...

[attr="class","hopeloveleft"]ALIAS // stray [attr="class","hopeloveleft"]AGE // eighteen [attr="class","hopeloveleft"]GENDER // male [attr="class","hopeloveleft"]GROUP // civilian |
[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]APPEARANCE [attr="class","hopelovetop"][attr="class","hopelovesub"]HAIR // black[break]EYES // bright blue[break]SKIN // black (fur)[break][break]ATTIRE[break][break]Given his... unique appearance, Ollie's attire consists just of what he's managed to put together. Hooded vests, primarily (while they don't exactly hide his face, they prove to be a small comfort all the same), simple pants partly repurposed to strap or button up above the tail to make them wearable for himself. They're not exactly designer brands, special, or always in the best shape... but at least they're comfortable for him to wear.[break][break]GENERAL[break][break]As unusual, and unique, as supers may be... Ollie himself is something even beyond that proverbial 'norm'. While he still stands on two feet at around 5'10" and somewhat lanky, still has two arms ending in quite normal-shaped hands and fingers, and still has a structure quite similar to a human's, much of him is anything but. The fur most of all, black fading to a lighter gray along the chin and down his chest, at the tips of a fluffy, quite fox-like tail behind him and matching pair of ears atop his head. Even his feet are structured almost like a canine's, if longer, making shoes quite impossible to wear. Then, hard to miss, is the extended muzzle ending in a canine-like black nose that comprises much of his face... well, for all intents and purposes, Ollie is effectively a humanoid fox. And he's good with that. [attr="class","hopelovetitle"]PERSONALITY [attr="class","hopelovetop"]For all his almost wild appearance might have someone infer, Ollie is... well, alright, so he is at least a little wild. He loves to stay on the move, he's highly street- and location-smart (need directions? he's got you covered), and he's actually quite friendly and outgoing, if perhaps somewhat eager to show off the pearly white, sharp canine teeth expecting most folks to get scared off by them, if they're already looking nervous from his appearance alone. He's a bit on the loud end just as well, and won't necessarily hesitate to act the part of his more canine-like appearance, whether that be through the occasional growl, or his ears and tail being so expressive as to make it harder for him to hide what he might be thinking. Add to it a certain love for music, and lack of hesitation to stick around those actually comfortable with his appearance, and Ollie could be considered fairly good-natured... for the most part.[break][break]Much like most social outcasts, however, it would be quite disingenuous to say that he doesn't have his... issues. He's ever alert for the locations of anyone nearby, for how one might react to anything he does, in part expecting the proverbial mask to come off at any moment. Such alertness tends to take its toll in moments of snappishness, on occasion turning it into something of a self-fulfilling prophecy... after which he tends to go quite docile. What hides under the unusual surface is certainly complex... and there's very much a reason he's taken to calling himself 'Stray'.[break][break]Though he may or may not enjoy pets and scratches and the like. Sometimes a bit of leisure is nice. [attr="class","hopelovetitle"]HISTORY [attr="class","hopelovetop"]A normal world, a normal life... well, things used to be normal for Ollie, if not special. Growing up in a family that had a modest income at best, as the second child, meant much of what he got was hand-me-down, and neither himself nor his older sister got much in the way of extravagance in general. A minor trip here, a game system there; what one got, the other tended to naturally share. To them, it was a good life, if not special; both parents still around, compared to the rare few of their friends whose parents had split, a household in which people didn't tend to fight much, and a neighborhood that was nice and quiet.[break][break]Of course, their lives weren't idyllic, to be sure. Ollie still had to deal with being the target of the occasional school bully growing up, he still had to deal with getting his grades up (or really, even caring much about most of the subjects at school). He had to deal with an elder sister's teasing, even if she was only a B or B- to his C. Still, idyllic or not, it was normal all the same, and he could well enough say that he grew up well, with a caring family... even if he wasn't terribly academically gifted.[break][break]That was, of course, before the Event. Some of his latest memories preceding it were of his parents closely following the news that August, sometimes with... less than kind things to say about the new 'non-humans', to them, apparently popping up. Of course, not long after that came the emergence of more, and more, and the insistence that they'd have nothing to do with it. Perhaps it was just willful ignorance that let their son's... episodes at night slide, complaining of tingling, itching, and even pain. Of his appearance starting to change, subtly at first, until he was the one to will it out the rest of the way, in a sense.[break][break]From there, though, there really was no turning back. He didn't even have to look in a mirror to tell him all he needed to know; he didn't have to go to his parents to know that they would hate it, that he wouldn't be safe in his home any longer. So he ran, faster and further than he'd ever managed to before, and in fact far more free than he'd felt in quite a while. Part of him imagined that there might have been a way to shift back ever since... but if he was going to be called 'non-human' by folks like his parents, he might as well look the part. Thus the 'Stray' was effectively born. A street-dweller, for all intents and purposes, which isn't exactly the most... glamorous life he could imagine, but at least he stays mostly out of trouble. Anything beyond that just depends what he feels like doing... including subsisting on odd jobs he can pick up here and there ever since. [attr="class","hopelovetitle"]POWER [attr="class","hopelovetop"][attr="class","hopelovesub"]FOX SHIFT[break][break]Unlike many, Ollie's ability is worn on his sleeve... and face, and really everywhere else. Of course, making him look quite unique is the most obvious part; perhaps slightly less so is the enhanced sight, smell, and hearing that come right along with it. Still less obvious is the increased reflexes that go along with those, often able to pick up on little sounds that would let him react more quickly than normal people. Add to it a high degree of agility, speed, and physical stamina, and... well, he's far from the strongest super on the block, but his abilities let him get around the streets quite well, along with making him quite a proficient tracker and quite not bothered by colder weather.[break][break] LIMITS[break][break]While his senses might be particularly good, they're hardly infallible; he still can't hear/smell or make out indistinct sounds or smells, and he's not immune to being snuck up on if one is careful and prepared enough. As far as agility goes, as much as he can bend, he can still very much break; his bone structure is only so much stronger than a regular human's. And stamina-wise, he still needs a decent share of food and water to keep going, just like anyone else. And speed-wise, while he can move faster than even top human track runners, his upper limit is somewhere around 60mph; nowhere close to what one might really consider 'superspeed'.[break][break]WEAKNESSES[break][break]While many might love super hearing and smell... Ollie is both a fan and not a fan at the same time. As each sense comes in stronger than normal humans, it also makes his nose and ears quite more sensitive to stronger smells or louder noises, that could well enough either make him sick in the former case, or deafen or even knock him out in the latter case. For a still less obvious weakness, however: extreme heat. While his fur insulates himself quite well from the cold, it also makes it quite possible for him to overheat in such hot conditions.[break][break] [attr="class","hopelovebot1"]PLAYED BY LANCE [attr="class","hopelovebot2"] TREY SMITH as OLLIE ATCHISON PHARAOH LEAP.
