Despite his relaxed posture, Aaron was aware of the people and movements in the bar. Be it part of his military training or being a hero, perception was crucial to not being taken by surprise. It saved his and other's lives more than once over the years. For this reason he was aware of the dark-haired woman who broke off from the pool tables to get a drink from the bar. He'd gotten shit before from fellow soldiers and friends that the last thing he was worried about was a woman's looks. Most men looked at a woman and judged how attractive he found her. Aaron took in other information, like if the way she walked indicated confidence on her feet--and thus some sort of athletics training-- or how she was looking around the room. In short, he sized women up the same way he did men, as potential trouble. His hero name perfectly reflected his role in combat. He was the tank. His job was to hit and get hit, but his comrades and bystanders couldn't take the same punishment he could, so it was important he was ready to act if need be. His therapist suggested some exercises to help him disengage. "You can't be constantly vigilante all the time. It's exhausting and not good for your mental state." Aaron disagreed. Having people get killed because he wasn't vigilante was worse for his mental state. The pool player was also vigilante, but in a way that wasn't obvious. It was a skill he noticed more in women than men and likely a by-product of their culture. A woman should be aware. She needed to be careful what sort of possible dangerous positions she was putting herself into. Men couldn't be trusted not to control themselves should an opportunity arose. That was a bunch of horse shit. As a meta who had to work tirelessly on self control so he didn't break things around him, normal men could control their cocks. Aaron's interest was not piqued by this woman until he noted with how much care she took the whiskey from the bartender, even after she had obviously looked him over. Had he any other power, he wouldn't have noticed the way her grip was seemingly careless. Interesting. It was with some mild surprise when she turned towards him and offered a game. Her accent caused a thick brow to raise as he at last took in more details of her elegant face. His gaze moved from the young woman to the pool tables and back again before gave an amiable nod. "Sure." He gave a lazy gesture toward the television. "That's a lost cause."Picking his own drink up, he followed the dark hair woman back to the pool tables. He preferred cards over billiards, but he was decent it at. If he could keep from hitting the damn balls too hard. It was a find practice in control. Aaron took initiative in racking up after slipping his canvas jacket from his broad shoulders, revealing the basic black tee underneath. "What brings you to New York, if you don't mind me asking?"Rina Carmen

If asked, Aaron would say he's an introvert. He had always needed time to himself or was exhausted and short-tempered with people around him. But that didn't mean he wasn't social or that he didn't like hanging out with friends. As he aged, however, he found groups more taxing and less interest in going out. But that may also have to do with him having fewer friends than when he was twenty. War changed many things. Fifteen years ago he would have been sitting at this bar with a few buddies, laughing, drinking, and making bets on the game. Tonight he was out by himself, quietly enjoying his glass of scotch while the people around him laughed and yelled at the tv. Tonight, it was better than the quiet of his apartment. A part of Aaron thought that coming back home would be different. Like this familiar place would help bring back the younger, more optimistic man he'd once been. That had been a joke. At least he was doing some good as Tank, even if the press was up his ass, and PR breathing down his neck. He took a swig of his drink, resisting the urge to down it at the mental reminder. He was seated at the bar, the far side where he could keep an eye on the entrance and nothing but a pair of tables were at his back. Some military training was harder to shed than other ones and most weren't worth the effort. While he was there by himself and not actively engaging with those around him, his posture was relaxed and open. He leaned casually on the counter, his stubbly chin resting in calloused fingers as he watched the game with mild interest. His other hand was wrapped loosely around his glass that he pushed forward for a refill when the bartender came back around with the bottle. Despite the game going on, the bar wasn't too busy. He could hear himself think over the other patrons and music and he could walk through the room without a constant press of bodies. Rina Carmen

HAIR // Brown[break] EYES // Brown[break] SKIN // Lightly tanned[break][break]
ATTIRE[break][break] Comfort is the name of the game for Aaron, his preferred pants being jeans when out or sweats at home--never shorts. He sticks mostly to tank tops or t-shirts, no matter the weather. The man does own and will wear button-up shirts, but loathes anything more formal. He owns exactly two jackets, one of army green canvas and one of black leather. Unless he's out for a run, his shoes are heavy, military style boots with steel toes. He loathes dress shoes. On his left wrist is a thick, waterproof military issued watch and he still wears his dog tags as a form of good luck charm. He sleeps in nothing but his sweatpants. [break][break] Tank's hero outfit is in all black. The top is form-fitting, but cuts off at the shoulders, leaving his arms bare. The chest armor his wears is more to protect his uniform than anything else, since most weapons can't hurt him, but it also helps in defending against high caliber rounds. His pants are fatigue-style and tuck into steel-toed boots. He wears a tight mask that covers his whole head and tucks into his shirt with hi-grade military optics over his eyes. The gloves are more out of habit than anything, since they rarely survive the pounding he does during his missions.
[break][break] GENERAL[break][break] Aaron is above average male height at six feet and three inches. He is barrel chested tapering down to his hips, giving his torso a distinctive upside down triangle shape. Years in the military and continued physical training assures his frame is wrapped in thick, hardened muscles. He has a few small scars across his body from his time in the military, all from high caliber bullets--one of the only things able to actually pierce his skin. He walks and stands with good posture, not being one to slouch unless he is lounging. [break][break] How clean shaven he is varies, but it's not uncommon for his to sport a few days of rough growth if not more. Same goes for the length of his hair--it was one thing about the military that he didn't care for. He lets it grow until it's brushing his neck before cutting it short and starting all over again--much fewer trips to the barber that way. [break][break]Aaron's voice is on the gruffer side and normally at lower levels, but when the man needs to get attention his bellow does the trick. His time moving around to different states and countries has decimated any discernible accent he had as a kid. Like most military men, he can have a foul mouth, but tries to curb it around civilian women and children.
[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]PERSONALITY [attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Upon first meeting him--either as Aaron or Tank--most people's impression of the man are that he is quiet, serious, and humorless. For those able to get to know Aaron better, they'll find that their first impression is mostly correct. While he is quiet, he is not shy. He prefers to listen and has learned that the longer he holds his tongue, the more others strive to fill the silence, giving him greater insight. However, he does not hesitate to speak up when he has something to say. Spending almost half of his life in war zones and in unfriendly territory, he's accustomed to staying alert and prepared. While not impossible, it can take some work to get Aaron to truly relax, but he is not the sort to joke around.
[break][break]Get even more behind that rigid, military exterior and you'll find a man who--despite being a hero--has a waning belief in the general 'good' of mankind. Still, he believes that the few out there that are the exception are worth the effort to put the bad ones down. Aaron has a soft spot kids and thinks that if humanity has a chance to change, it lies with them. Ironically, he feels like he is not the best role-model for them and is generally awkward around them. "Don't be like me. Stand up for the right things, but find a different way."
[break][break]Aaron is loyal to fault once it is gained, but when faced with lies or deceit it's nearly impossible to gain his trust. With new acquaintances or co-workers he follows the saying 'trust, but verify' until they have proven themselves. His many years in the military built a strong trust in his team, when he has one. If you couldn't trust them to have your back, you might as well shoot yourself in the head to avoid worse fates. Working closely with someone he doesn't know or doesn't trust yet in a dangerous situation puts him a foul and cold mood.
[break][break]When taking on the persona of Tank, he is all business. When he enters the battlefield it is to get results. He is not a leader and prefers to work alone, though he executes orders with extreme efficiency when he does work on a team. He repeats, he is not a leader and has exactly negative interest in taking that position. Let him handle the issue by himself or give him orders. Given his ability, Tank doesn't step into a fight unless diplomacy and other more tactful solutions have failed or the villains power puts too many lives at risk. His goal is to end the threat, by any means necessary.
[break][break]Obviously, Aaron is no fan of villains or anyone else who breaks the law, but he is not as rigid as some of his 'colleagues'. Petty theft, drug use, traffic violations, and other victim-less crimes aren't much concern for him. However, he is just as harsh on dirty cops as he is on serious criminals. Nothing pisses him off faster than a trusted authority figure taking advantage of their position for their own personal gain.
[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]HISTORY [attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Born in NYC, it's no wonder that the Big Apple is where Aaron decided to return after leaving the military. His mother was a nurse and his father a police officer. Aaron adored his mother, which only made his already complicated relationship with his father worse. Mostly, the man was a high functioning alcoholic, but he had a temper and would take it out on his wife. It took a long time before things turned physical and even then it was only rarely.
[break][break]Aaron discovered his powers at thirteen when some stupid teenage boy shenanigans went south and he should have ended up in critical condition at the local hospital, if not down right dead. Instead, he was untouched and shortly after that, he and his parents were visited his father's brother that he'd only met once before. It was then that he found out about The Family--his family, apparently. They didn't have much contact with them since neither of his parents turned out to be metahumans--much to his father's jealously. Needless to say, it was much to take in, but with the secret organization's help they got the support they needed to keep his 'condition' hidden. A year after that, his father left them when during one of his drunken tantrums he threatened his wife and his son sent him through a wall.
[break][break]As his strength got harder to control, Aaron spent more time working with other 'strongmen' from The Family. Having a piss-poor example of a father figure, he grew up idolizing the heros of comic books. Discovering he had super strength and durability only fueled his childhood desire to be like the fictional characters he looked up to. What better way to help serve his country and help protect people than to join the military? Four years into his military career, he was transferred to a black ops unit thanks to his above average record. Interesting how while trying to do the right thing and striving for that greater good, you are faced with all the worst aspects of humanity. Twelve years of service and it's hard to image he'd ever been so naive. Wouldn't you know it? The world is not black and white, good and evil, but a nearly endless palette of grays. Unfortunately, grey complicates matters and Aaron hated complications. As it turned out, so did the military.
[break][break]At thirty-four years old, Aaron was convinced that there was a never ending supply of men who would lie, cheat, steal, and kill for power and/or money. Though the scariest did it for religion. He was good at his job, but so were others. There were many normal men and women who could do what he was doing and it's for that reason when the 'event' occurred and metahuman villains started crawling out of the woodwork he left the military and returned home to protect it.
[break][break]It's been almost a year since Tank appeared and he's left quite a mark on his reputation so far. He has his own rigid honor code and meets head to head with villains with extreme prejudice. The justice system is great and all--not really--but nothing stops them with more finality than death. It's not always his intention to kill them, but with a power like increased strength, well, it requires little finesse and a large margin for overkill.
[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]POWER [attr="class","hopelovetop"][attr="class","hopelovesub"]
ABILITY[break][break] Aaron has super human strength and durability. His toughness is greater than his strength, however. It's not uncommon for him to come out of a confrontation unscathed. His cells are simply too condensed to allow penetration of most items unless it had enough force behind it. He is also resistant to heat and blunt force trauma doesn't do much to phase him. His bones and muscles are denser, allowing him to withstand more strain than normal humans. It's not impossible to break his bones, but it's pretty damn hard to. [break][break]
LIMITS[break][break] Durability: While his skin can withstand most forces, long-range rifles and armor piercing rounds (or anything more than 6k KE in Joules) can still hurt him. He is resistant to fire, allowing him to run through it, but continued prolong contact of more than thirty or so seconds and it will start to burn him. While hurting him and breaking his bones is difficult, a vehicle driving at anything over 50 mph would do the trick. [break][break]
Strength: Fresh for the day, Aaron can easily lift objects upwards of five hundred pounds. A thousand takes a little prep and more work while he hits his limit at a couple hundred short of two thousand. He can drag nearly three thousand pounds--the distance is dependent on what it is and terrain. His overall energy level does affect his strength. If he's been physically active or involved in an exhausting fight, it affects how much he can easily lift.
[break][break]
WEAKNESSES[break][break] Durability: Having skin that is difficult to penetrate with anything short of a sniper rifle, this means no needles for Tank. No vaccines, immunizations, giving blood (that was a fun story), tattoos, fluids, or fast acting pain meds for the those times he does end up in the hospital. Luckily. those aren't often and he has a good immune system. (But he is a total baby when he does get sick.) Having dense muscles and bones means he sinks like a damn rock, making it difficult for him to swim without proper gear.[break][break]
Strength: Even though he has lived with his enhanced strength over half his life, he still sometimes struggles with things that require a more delicate touch. This is especially true if he's not in a good mood, half asleep, or drank a few too many. He avoids owning anything glass when he can because he will break it at some point and usually shells out for the higher quality/more durable stuff--unless that has proven to be futile, then he goes as cheap as possible. He is why he can't have nice things. [break][break]
