❝ Pretty woman, walkin' down the street❞
“That is the hope.” Sophia glanced around before leaning in, speaking in a conspiratorial whisper. “Though, between you and me, I wouldn’t mind it taking its time. It’s not the most interesting project, and being here for so long has let me establish myself a little better than I normally have the time to.”
“It’s rare that I ever get the chance to stay in the same place for long. I’m not so gauche as to complain about the opportunity to travel the world, and it’s certainly more exciting than being in the same city all the time, but it can be draining at times as well. Makes long-term relationships a nightmare as well.” Not that Sophia particularly minded that last part. Long-term relationships had never really been an objective of hers. She preferred them short and passionate to long and boring.
“The invitations are there yes, but honestly Dominic - can I call you Dominic? - the events are always so dull. This is easily the most entertained I’ve been in quite some time, all thanks to yourself.”
She smiled as he took the autograph, flashing brilliant white teeth at the care he took over it. Weaver’s PA must be something indeed. A young man with a boss who obviously wasn’t interested in sleeping with him and yet still took the time to care about his interests?
It must be said that Sophia, as intelligent and observant as she undeniably was, was not an entirely reliable or objective source, and nor did she tend to pay enough attention to the affairs of those she deemed as uninteresting to really glean any understanding of their lives. Her knowledge of the typical boss-PA relationship came mostly from the escapades of her father, a sleaze if there ever was one, and 1960s business TV shows and films. Not that she was wrong in this, but it still must be said.
The comment on privacy and non-disclosure would’ve had a less controlled woman salivating. Sophia had a fondness for secrets, mostly for being the one who knew them while others were ignorant. There was nothing quite as satisfying as being the one with all the answers, after all, and that was something Sophia was very good at being. Mostly by cheating.
Brenton dating someone? Sophia doubted it would last. He’d have his fun and be back on the Bachelor list in a couple of months. The man was an incorrigible flirt, and had never had any time for a serious relationship. Much like Sophia herself actually.
You’d think it would reduce how desirable people found him, but it didn’t seem to be happening. Not that Sophia herself cared, she had always been more concerned with her own short term enjoyment than other people’s long term happiness.
“8th? My my, you’re moving up in the world. Now you just need a title, or a trophy of some sort. Add that to your money and excellent looks and you’d shoot all the way up to number 1.”
Her smile turned crooked. “Between you and me, I find Brooklyn much less pretty than his father. He could use a knock off the pedestal.”
“Single friends? Not many. At least not who’d fit your tastes, or whose tastes you’d fit. I would’ve suggested Olivia, the girl isn’t too picky, but you’re an hour too late for that I’m afraid.”

❝ Pretty woman, walkin' down the street❞
“Too much interest in your personal life Mr Weaver?” Sophia smiled, a peculiarly gentle expression that contrasted greatly with the slyness she had been displaying earlier. “Welcome to the life of the rich and famous. Now that you’re here, they’ll never give up looking for a story. If anything, they’d probably be less interested if you did have a girlfriend. Right now you’re an eligible bachelor, the 9th most eligible in the US if I remember correctly.”
She raised a hand to her mouth to hide her chuckle. “You have an aura of mystery about you Mr Weaver. You were the classic young start-up CEO, complete with charisma, good lucks, fast cars and a different beautiful woman every few months. Now? You still have the charisma, the good looks and the fast cars, but the women are gone. And that makes them salivate. They think maybe you’ve got a serious relationship that they can blow the whistle on.”
“Date a few models, a starlet or two. Have some fun. Embrace the publicity. Either that or become a monk and swear yourself to celibacy.”
She took a sip of wine, emptying the glass, and raising it slightly to catch the attention of one of the wandering staff. The man accepted the empty glass and offered a full one, only for Sophia to wave him away. She’d drank enough for the night.
The tilt of his head in a particular direction caught Sophia’s attention, and she turned to look at what had drawn his gaze. Paladin, the shining star of the Hero program. The golden girl, and goose. A goody two shoes, with no hidden vices. No amusing secrets at all, so far as she could tell. Practically a comic book character; all black and white, truth and justice and all that rubbish. It would be fun to corrupt her of course, but there was little chance of that happening.
Honestly, Sophia thought she was boring, and she was not subtle about that feeling. “Normal is so boring. And please, your life has not been a simple one since long before the Event Mr Weaver. A very successful CEO before you turned 30? That’s not simple, or normal.”
She followed the change in subject smoothly enough: Sophia was always happy to talk about herself. “A fan?” She snapped her fingers, calling over one of the staff. “A pen, and a piece of paper please.”
While they were wandering off in search of that, she turned to his question. “There was a bit of a disaster in that actually. The studio and the director had a bit of a falling out, so I and my cast mates are mostly just waiting around while they hash it out. I don’t mind too much, San Francisco has always been one of my favourite cities on this continent.”
The woman returned with a pen and paper, and Sophia signed her name with a flourish before offering it to Weaver. “Make his day a better one. I would share my next project, but you know how private the industry can be sometimes.”

❝ Pretty woman, walkin' down the street❞
Weaver looked wistful, like a man past his prime remembering old battles - Sophia filed the expression away in a little folder labeled ‘Surge’. If the rumour was indeed true, and Sophia was quite sure that it was, then it was of no surprise that a man like Dominic Weaver would find the niceties of a high-society ball to be boring. Sophia herself found them to be rather dull herself after all, and she’d never been one for running street battles against ‘villains’; stealing priceless artwork right out of a gallery, absolutely, but conflict with other metahumans? Even allowing for the way the Event had changed the landscape, she’d never been a climactic confrontation kind of gal; much more efficient to just never let them find out you were the thief in the first place - saved a lot of money on damaged clothing, and the cost of a bullet. That was a lesson she’d learned early. One she’d learned well.
Her smile turned a touch wry as Weaver spoke. “Favours are the most valuable currency of all Mr Weaver. For people like us, money means nothing. I can take the inconvenience of a boring party, considering what he did for me in return.”
She laughed at his insincere toast, raising her own glass a little in a mocking echo. “Always a pleasure indeed.”
That he was here on business was no real surprise to Sophia - she had asked the question having already guessed the answer. The man was a consummate professional certainly, and he could fake it well enough to fool drunk socialites and immoral magnates, but Sophia was more observant than most. He was as bored as she was, perhaps even more.
The comment on Olivia surprised her for a moment. The man was observant indeed.
“I’m afraid Olivia came here hoping for something more than a boring party populated mostly by women her age or younger, and men fifty years older,” Sophia said, chuckling. “I would have warned her, but her naivety is so refreshing - my line of work tends to grind the idealism out of young women rather quickly.”
Her smile turned wicked, as Olivia finally reached the woman who had so transfixed her all evening. “If you look again, Mr Weaver, you’ll find the real reason she’s been so distracted for the last few minutes. Darling Olivia has been lusting after Ms Lopez for weeks now, and she finally has her opportunity.”
A delighted, if soft, laugh escaped her lips as she watched the two women speak. “Really, she has terrible taste in women.”
She turned her gaze back to the man beside her. “What of you? Which lucky lady did the illustrious Dominic Weaver bring to this little shindig?”

❝ Pretty woman, walkin' down the street❞
Sophia was still musing on whether or not to approach Dominic Weaver when he took the choice out of her hands, catching notice of her watching him and approaching her - after shooing off his current conversational partner of course, a frightfully dull man more concerned with making money than spending it. She took the opportunity to give him a once over, and secure her observations. A man comfortable in his own skin and his surroundings, but not particularly pleased with the latter. Oh he hid it well, but Sophia was an actress, and a far greater one than Weaver could ever hope to be. He had a politician’s skills, rather than a true actor’s; good at pretending, but incapable of truly becoming a given role.
Of course, it must be said that Sophia’s standards for a good liar were rather extreme; there might have been five people at the fundraiser, save herself and Weaver, who could’ve recognised his lack of enjoyment, and by now at least two of them would be drunk, and the other three likely couldn’t care less. Then again, Sophia never let a little something called logic get in the way of flattering her own skills and downplaying those of others.
His approach was impressively smooth - slipping through gaps in the press, a gentle pass of his arm towards a server snatching a wine glass without the woman even needing to slow. Truly, this was a man of impressive self control indeed. Had most of the men in the room tried that trick there would’ve been wine spilled all over the floor, but he did it as easily as breathing. Comfortable in his surroundings indeed.
Sophia smiled as he came into speaking distance, schooling her expression into one of politely amused interest. “You can find excitement in many places Mr Weaver, though I must admit it can be rather more difficult at such events. I mostly find my amusement in watching the various guests make fools of themselves, though I must admit that this would not be my first choice of venue for the evening.” Sophia shrugged her delicate shoulders. “I’m afraid I owed our gracious host a favour, so it seemed it would be rather impolite to refuse the invitation that came through my door.”
“What of you Mr Weaver? Are you here for business or pleasure this evening?”

❝ Pretty woman, walkin' down the street❞
One might look at Sophia Blood, professional thief, daredevil and connoisseur of other people’s fine things and assume that she would find the general atmosphere of a high society party rather boring, but that could not be further from the truth. The reality was that Sophia was rather easy to please, finding amusement and entertainment even in what others might consider dull; she stole because she was good at it, took risks because, for her, they were no more dangerous than crossing the street.
Even at a fundraiser, held to raise money for one of the many charitable causes that the rich and powerful so loved to take advantage of for good publicity and tax purposes, there were ample sources of amusement. For instance, one could observe the various millionaires and corporate representatives and try to work out how many of them were cheating on their wives, or husbands. Sophia had been doing that herself since shortly after she first arrived and had arrived at 14 out of the 25 couples she had observed featuring cheating on one side or the other. Truly, the wealthy were terrible at monogamy. Not that Sophia herself could judge - she’d never been a one-man kind of girl.
She turned to her plus-one, an up and coming stage actor named Olivia Garcia who was looking frankly delectable in that gorgeous red dress. She leaned in close and whispered in her ear, lips curling into a wicked smile as Olivia’s cheeks pinked. “The gentleman in the charcoal suit, the one with the harpy in that hideous pink dress hanging off his arm, snuck off to the bathroom with Ms Lopez not fifteen minutes ago.”
Sophia gently pressed on Olivia’s jaw with a couple of fingers, turning her head so that she could see the aforementioned Ms Lopez entering the room. “She looks disappointed, the poor dear,” Sophia chuckled, voice low and sultry. “Can’t say I’m surprised, she has terrible taste in men.”
She unlinked her arm from Olivia’s and gave her a gentle push in the direction of the door. She laughed quietly when her date gave her a plaintive look, clearly unsure of what she was doing. “Go on, you’ve been staring at her ever since she first walked in. If she’s willing to leave the room with a man like him, she’ll do the same with a treat like you, and I don’t doubt you won’t disappoint her like he did.” Sophia would be very surprised if she did - Lopez had been looking desperate since the night started, and, seeing as she was highly placed in a big local theatre company, developing a good relationship now would work wonders for Olivia’s future.
That did, unfortunately, leave Sophia herself a little bereft. With no date to tease she was left with little to do besides wander. After all, what good were humorous observations and witty one-liners if you had no one to share them with?
She scanned the crowd, looking for something, anything, anyone who could amuse her. Catching sight of one man in particular, her lips curled once more into a smile. Dominic Weaver, the PR guru of the Hero Program and, it was rumoured, one of its founding members as the now-retired hero Surge. While a man with no scandals or other particularly interesting sources of gossip, he was nonetheless a common topic among those of a particular class; less than thirty years old, but already a powerful and wealthy CEO, and the not-so hidden mastermind behind the most popular brand in America.
Sophia had never spoken to the man, for all that they moved in similar circumstances. Perhaps now was the time to change that.

❝ Pretty woman, walkin' down the street❞
Sophia smiled again, tapping a slim finger on her bag. "The designer is a fan, so he didn't mind a personalised order. He doubled the price of course, but when you've already decided to buy a personally designed handbag from a professional it's a little silly to complain about the price."
Money was no object for Sophia, but she was smart enough to recognise that not everyone had quite as much disposable income as she did. This girl certainly wasn't a pauper, but nor did she look made of money, and the bag had been pricey even by Sophia's standards - not as expensive as the Cleopatra she'd left at home, but still a prohibitive expenditure for any normal person with concerns like rent, or a mortgage. "It's probably not been worth the investment though," she said airily. "A brick in the bottom of a normal handbag will do the job just as well, without needing any extra investment, and that little taser you have is already enough to put down any one attacker."
Sophia giggled a little and twirled, the long silk coat flaring around her hips. "I know, and it's such lovely silk as well. Why, if they'd actually damaged it I might've had to break more than just his nose." Her tone was no less light than it had been before, despite the grimness of the words; she wasn't lying after all, if the man had done damage that she couldn't simply reverse Sophia probably would've hurt him a lot more than was strictly necessary - Sophia didn't like people touching her things.
Sophia was a little surprised at the swift acceptance by the other woman. Madelyn didn't strike her as much of a trouble maker at first glance. "This way," she said, turning to walk out of the alley.
As soon as her back was turned and Madelyn couldn't see her face anymore, a wicked smirk spread across Sophia's lips. An innocent looking cherub who'd come to the aid of a woman in need, yet didn't hesitate to duck and run before the police showed up? Oh, Sophia was going to have some fun with this.
She'd only just left the alleyway when she froze, before turning - a little embarassed - to her would-be rescuer. "So Madelyn, are you from around here? I've visited San Francisco before, but this wasn't exactly the part of town I spent my time in so I don't know my way around."
The plea for Madelyn to take the lead went unstated, but was undoubtedly easy to recognise.

The mention of self defence classes had Sophia smiling. "I have some training yes." an understatement if there ever was one, Sophia was a highly trained martial artist and held several trophies to prove it. "That though? That was all from the school of hard knocks, with the aid of the oldest weapon in the world - a heavy blunt instrument."
Sophia offered her handbag to the girl. "Feel the weight? I had it specifically designed for that - you never know when you might need a club of some sort when you're someone as beautiful as me."
Offer politeness and politeness is returned, Sophia was definitely liking this girl. "Madelyn Green? A pretty name for a beautiful woman." What could she say? Flirtation was in her blood.
"Just because I could've dealt with them myself, doesn't mean your aid was unwelcome by any means. After all, you being here meant I didn't have to get really messy in dealing with them." Sophia smiled at Madelyn. "How about we go for a drink, you and me? These guys aren't going anywhere so the police will be able to find them easily enough, and if we're here when they arrive we'll get questioned and that'll take ages."
"Come on darling, let's go."

❝ Pretty woman, walkin' down the street❞
Thug One went down like a felled tree when cutie tased him, his body locking up and a high pitched squeal escaping his lips. Thug Two, so surprised at the sudden appearance of a tiny girl who'd taken down his 250lb friend in an instant, froze himself, mouth gaping open in an expression of stunned surprise. The gaping fish impression was short lived, as he instead took on the characteristics of a bruised tomato, face reddening and then purpling in rage. He probably would've started yelling and smashing things, most likely his fists against the wall but there was always a risk he'd manage to get a hit in on cutie and she was small enough that a blow from his hamhock of a fist would probably snap her like a twig.
Not that he'd ever have the chance to land a blow on her. After all, Sophia was there.
A little twist of her hips and an outthrust foot had the man bending over his prodigious gut with an explosion of breath, and Sophia - never one to waste such a perfect opportunity - swung her handbag up into his face; the bag, specially weighted for use as a weapon (Sophia liked to be prepared for trouble, even if she often ended up walking into it by accident), smashed his nose and probably shattering quite a few of his teeth. It wasn't enough to knock him cold, knocking people unconcious was so much more difficult than the movies made it look, unfortunately, but he certainly wouldn't be getting any dates anytime soon.
"Stay down you idiot," she said as the man feel to his knees, hands over his face. "I don't want to do any permanent damage, and unlike my friend here I didn't bring something convenient like a taser." He gave a whimper of assent, and shrank in on himself.
Sophia turned to the girl who had come to her aid, smirking a very familiar smirk. "Oh gallant rescuer, I," she gave a little bow, "am Sophia Hewitt, actress and fashion model extraordinare. Whom do I have the pleasure of addressing, and would you please do me the honour of calling the police on these idiots?"

❝ Pretty woman, walkin' down the street❞
This really was going to be a challenge it seemed. Not that Sophia had thought Yen would call her for something trivial, but there's a difference between expecting bad news and recieving it. Well, she said bad news; Sophia was fairly salivating at the prospect, something that no doubt would have most people in this kind of situation looking at her like she was mad. What could she say? Sophia was a sucker for a good challenge - with a power like hers, everything was so easy.
She'd expected a task that would only take a few days, but even a thief of Sophia's innumerable talents would need more time than that for this particular task. This wouldn't be one of those easy jobs where she could just glance at the plans and muddle her way through from there, this would take proper planning and research. Sophia had worked hard to cultivate her image as a woman who never made mistakes, and while that was simple enough to preserve day-to-day this was another matter entirely.
Sophia's power could save her from small errors, but it could only ever give her ten seconds of leeway. With a job like this, that wouldn't be nearly enough. Everything would have to be perfect.
But then, Sophia was a professional. This wasn't some insurmountable challenge - when it came to thievery the Fox was the unstoppable force, and there was no immovable object.
Yen wanted something? The Fox would get it for her. It didn't matter who or what was protecting it, the Fox could steal it. There were only one person left in the world that the Fox would refuse to steal from: The Doctor had been a scary figure in Sophia's mind, but with her dead there was just the High Councillor. Anyone else, and she'd do it. The European Councillor, the American Councillor, anyone except him. Even Sophia, confident as she was, wasn't stupid enough to do anything that might piss him off.
The only people who survived his wrath, wished that they'd fallen to it.
But Yen wasn't asking the Fox to steal from the most terrifying man in the world. She was asking her to raid a government location and pinch some footage. Child's play.
"Whatever there is, you'll be holding it in your hands by the end of the month. I'll need everything you've already learned about the site." A flash of the normal Sophia broke through the professional facade, as she leaned forward and tapped Yennefer's desk with a single finger. "No holding back on me now Yennefer."
The arrogance shone through, as it always did. "I can do it without your help, but it'd save me an hour at least."

❝ Pretty woman, walkin' down the street❞
Sophia had been planning on just taking down the muggers quickly; that way she could avoid both further damage to her clothing, and having to look at them for too long. That all changed when she noticed the much more attractive young woman sneaking up behind them. Looked like she was about to get 'rescued' by a good samaritan - that was a trope Sophia was particularly fond of, even if it did tend to be the setup for a trashy romance rather than serious literature (Sophia tended to prefer trashy romance, honestly, but she'd rather die than admit it).
The girl was younger than Sophia herself, younger even than Adri. She looked cute, just the kind of person Sophia knew she'd be able to have a lot of fun with. But pleasure would have to wait a while, she'd first have to deal with her little problem. Not too quickly of course, her saviour needed to be given a chance to get some digs of her own in; experience had taught Sophia that helping people in a fight was an excellent way to get to know them, second only to passionate sex - Sophia tended to prefer the latter, but the first led to the second often enough to make it worthwhile. Who knows, maybe she'd even get some of it today? She'd worried that she'd need to go see Adri again to have any real fun, but perhaps the cutie would be up for a round?
The mugger with the knife went to jab her in the side again while she was distracted, probably irritated that she wasn't crying in fear and rushing to hand over all her money. She sidestepped the blow easily enough, but the knife caught in the fabric of her coat and left a rip in the silk large enough to fit her thigh through. That wouldn't do at all.
***
Thug One gasped in pain as she twisted away from his attack and kicked him in the shin - not the most effective blow perhaps, but she'd already decided to drag the fight out as long as possible to give her rescuer time to shine. Thug Two took a moment to react, but when he finally processed what was happening he took a step forward and swung what would have been a rather impressive haymaker if it had ever had a chance of connecting. Unfortunately for him, Sophia had years of training and a lifetime's worth of experience of avoiding her problems.
Honestly, it was just disappointing. So disappointing, in fact, that she forgot about her original plan to appear like a damsel in distress and instead beckoned her would-be rescuer with a salacious wink and a crooked finger. If she couldn't have fun with the actual fight, she might as well get started on the bonding part.

The information wasn't much, but Sophia had never particularly expected much; Adri was fun and impulsive, but that didn't make her stupid. It didn't matter, really. As much as Sophia wanted new material with which to tease Yen it wasn't like she'd ever been short of it, and besides, she'd have to avoid using what Adri told her except in the most oblique manner, if only to protect her partner-in-crime from Yen's wrath. Not to protect herself of course, Yen would never be able to hurt her, but Adri was a different matter. Well, maybe. Sophia didn't really know how Yen would treat her family.
Probably better not to bring up the cat unless she was really running low on ideas; mocking people for their long-dead pets wasn't Sophia's style. The image of Yen as a nerd though? That... that she could work with.
"Oooh, I can just picture it now," Sophia smiled infectiously, leaning in and nudging Adri in the side with an elbow. She really could as well, though what she was picturing likely wasn't the truth - somehow she doubted Yen had ever done skimpy cosplay, or gone around looking like a sexy librarian, but dammit, a girl could dream.
"That's some nice, juicy material you've given me Adri. Whatever could you desire as payment, hmm?" Sophia smirked wickedly, pressing herself against the other woman.

❝ Pretty woman, walkin' down the street❞
The man with the knife needed to go down first. His friend was far more handsome - not hard, admittedly - so if Sophia was going to need to look at one of them for more than a few seconds, it might as well be the one that wouldn't make her throw up when she was done here. Besides, she couldn't have him poke another hole in her lovely silk coat now could she? No, far better to take him down early, then deal with his friend.
Honestly, she'd wanted just one ordinary day where she could do ordinary things like ordinary people. Oh, who was she kidding. She'd been bored out of her skull.
*** Sophia hadn't visited San Francisco in a while. Well, not for pleasure at least. She'd been by for work a few times in the past couple of years, but she hadn't been to see the sights in almost a decade. Well, that was all going to change - she was planning on staying in the area for a while, so she might as well visit all the popular destinations.
She'd planned to visit a lot of them today actually, already had visited a few. She'd crossed the Golden Gate Bridge, then came back to the city and gone to the Golden Gate Park (not very imaginative, honestly). She'd been on her way to Fisherman's Wharf - apparently it was a wharf where they sold fish (Sophia was beginning to sense a pattern here) - when she'd apparently taken a wrong turn and ended up in the 'bad' part of town. Honestly, it didn't seem that bad; the streets were definitely a little less clean than elsewhere, and there were more beggars, but it was still far nicer than some of the streets Sophia had been on before.
Honestly, it was all seeming rather tame. At least, it was until someone pressed something into the small of her back and a rough voice told her to 'hand over her wallet'. Honestly, accosting her on a public street where anyone... could... see. She'd walked into a back alley hadn't she? Damn it, she really needed to start paying attention to where she was going.
She turned to face her the men who had accosted her, adopting a rather convincing expression of fear - nothing better than two decades in drama to train you in faking emotion. Two thugs, one armed one not. Both ugly (ugh, why were there never any cute muggers - she'd need to write a complaint to the muggers union at this rate).
Well, this wouldn't take long.

❝ Pretty woman, walkin' down the street❞
Did Sophia know Yennefer? Oh, how Sophia knew Yennefer. That made it sound like more than it actually was, Sophia still hadn't had the chance to get to know Yennefer carnally yet after all. On the other hand, she did know Yennefer's little sister carnally, which made up for every single time she'd ever decided not to try and sleep with Yen.
And Yennefer was complaining about Sophia to her little sister? Sophia was so proud, she might've squeed if she weren't a very mature woman; oh who was she kidding, she made a small noise not unlike the sound a kettle might make when left on the boil, but at a much lower volume - low enough that Adri probably couldn't hear her. Yenny complained about Sophia, which meant Sophia was getting to her. This was very important information.
"Yennefer, kill me? She might dream about it, but I'm far too valuable to waste. So don't worry darling, I'll always be available if you want some..." Sophia paused for a moment and licked her lips, "...fun."
Sophia knew she'd won as soon as Adri smiled. There had been some worry that the woman would react negatively, start a fight that Sophia would need to avoid. But with how Adri smiled, oh she was definitely on board with this.
"What do I want to know? Oh darling, I already told you. I want to know everything. Anything I can tease her with, any embarassing stories from when you were younger. If it'll make her react, I want to know it." Sophia pressed a finger to Adri's lips. "Don't worry. Anything you tell me will remain between me, you, and, of course, Yennefer." Sophia giggled, quietly.

❝ Pretty woman, walkin' down the street❞
Mhmm. Sophia definitely had good taste in women. That pose just made Adri all the more ravishable - not that she needed it. The impression, though far from perfect, made it all the better. Sophia had a thing for imitation. The suggestion of breakfast met with a much more... mixed... reaction. Sophia was looking at Adri's kitchen after all, she wasn't entirely sure there would be any food there that wasn't poisonous. She'd pinch some of Adri's food after she'd had a couple of bites, that way she could be sure they weren't deadly; well, mostly sure.
Had this been one of those Japanese cartoons, Sophia's jaw would've dropped so far that it'd be touching the floor. As it was not, in fact, one of them, she made do with a momentary befuddled stare, followed swiftly by the slyest, smuggest smile she'd had in years. "Yennefer, you say?"
It started as a giggle, but quickly crescendoed until Sophia threw back her head and laughed, a full-throated laugh of pure joy. "Oh Yennefer Yennefer Yennefer," she said, wiping a hand over her face to brush away tears. "Darling Yenny never told me she had a sister. Why, if I'd known about you we would have met a long time ago." Sophia threw an arm around Adri's shoulders, pulling the younger woman close and planting a kiss on her cheek. "There's so much we have to talk about; I'm already an expert at making her angry, but you must have all the little secrets. You should see her when she's really murderous, her face goes this adorable purple colour and then she starts breaking everything, it's so fun."
It had been the name that had cinched it. Sophia could definitely seen the resemblance, had even seen it the night before - it was part of the reason she'd chosen Adri to go home with after all - but she'd brushed it off as coincidence. Yennefer as a sister? She'd thought it impossible. But with this information? Ohoho. This was going to be even more fun that usual.
"Oh gorgeous, please, tell me everything."

❝ Pretty woman, walkin' down the street❞
Now that Sophia was awake, and not distracted by the prospect of sex with a gorgeous blonde as she had been the night before, she was much more observant. The first thing she noticed was how much of a tip Adri's house was, with dirty clothes strewn all over the floor and dirty dishes filling the sink to the brim.
The second thing, was just how many spades Adri had tattooed on her body. Well, it wasn't like Sophia hadn't been trying to sleep with Yennefer. Either Adri was an actual Spade, or she was one of those fans that Sophia had seen a few times - either way, it wasn't like Yennefer would have a problem with it, or like Sophia would care if she did. Yenny could call herself a queen all she liked, but there wasn't a soul in the universe that could make Sophia kneel before them.
"I'm the first British girl you've spent the night with? Oh darling, you've been missing out on so much. I'm still in LA for a little while, so I suppose I could be convinced to educate you." Sophia leaned against the small table, smiling wickedly. "Don't worry, this is one thing you'll enjoy paying for."
She took a long draught of the offered coffee. It was vile, of course, but Sophia wasn't a highly paid actress for nothing - it wasn't difficult to pretend that the swill was practically an aphrodisiac, causing barely parted lips and widened eyes as she looked Adri up and down, not for the first time.
Damn, Sophia thought to herself, she had fantastic taste in women.
