Richard Malloy had three kids, a daughter fifteen years old who was just discovering an interest in boys, a younger son who loved to play video games with his dad, and a newly born daughter of just three months. In order to support these children he and his wife, both of them primarily unskilled workers, both work multiple jobs. In order to care for their youngest, Helen Malloy has been on maternity leave, leaving Richard to be the main provider for the family. Perhaps this explains why he fell asleep at the wheel on the morning of June 3rd 2017.
His car strayed out of his lane, forcing a coach into the barrier in the centre of the motorway. The coach turned over, skidding across the road to block three lanes. Richard Malloy died instantly, twenty of the occupants of the coach suffered a similar fate, including the driver. A sudden blockage on a major motorway doesn’t end so simply however. Eight more people were killed when their vehicles collided with the wreck, and the ensuing pile up led to the injury of scores of people and the destruction of eighty vehicles.
It was the worst road accident in American history.
The emergency rooms of nearby hospitals were overwhelmed, with dozens people in critical condition, and many more with cuts, abrasions and contusions. It was one of the worst disasters in San Francisco since the ‘Great San Francisco Earthquake’.
In the confusion and chaos, many miracles went unnoticed and bravery unappreciated. When one particular doctor pulled several critical cases into the ICU no one thought anything of it, questions only came when each of those patients made a full recovery, more than a full recovery in fact. Several of them came back from the brink of death. By that time it was too late, the doctor in question was on none of the hospital’s personnel files. Some praised God, other’s called it luck, but those few patients were amongst the luckiest of all the victims of the disaster. If luck is what you would call it…

Q. How do I get started?A. Jump right into this thread here. Q. What is PbP (Play by Post)A. Play by Post is a text based role-playing system where the players, or writers, play characters within a predefined environment (in this case Earth). In most forum RPs there aren't any statistics or experience points like those found in video or tabletop based RPGs. Characters are portrayed solely through the use of text and written descriptions, turning the RP almost into a form of collaborative story-telling. Q. Where is this RP set?A. Only Super takes place in a world just over a year after the Event (the emergence of super powers into the public). Technology and society is mostly the same to our own, with only a few changes made in an attempt to adapt to the existence of metahumans. Find out more about the setting - such as the definitions of Heroes, Villains and Vigilantes, plot summaries and details on the site's organisations - here. Q. Who are the Families?A. All metahumans before the Event were a member of the Families. Though it is far from the Illuminati society that conspiracy theorists would have you believe exist in the shadows, people with powers would not have existed in hiding for so long without some form of organisation ensuring that they remained so. They are insular, and the more integrated members still have little interest in helping outsiders. This can lead to friction, as the Families are still the foremost source and experts on metahumans and the phenomena associated with them. There is some form of centralised leadership known as the Council, this group of metahumans are generally regarded as the most respected members of the Families. Each member of the Council is responsible for a different region of the world, and each possesses their own influences and resources in those locations. Find out more about the Families and other organisations here. Q. What do I do if I'm new here?A. Say hi in the cbox, you can't miss it, type in your name and off you go! After that you should head straight to the Rules and then into Character Applications to create your character. You can check out the Setting information too! Q. How do I join people's threads?A. If a thread has Open in the title then go right ahead and post in it you can join that thread, if there is a name in the title however, and that name is not yours, then the thread is a private one, you can read all you want, but you cannot post in it. If you feel you really should be in the thread then feel free to PM the thread starter and ask. Some threads may have Ask in the title, in which case it is hoped that you will PM and ask the thread starter if you can join in. You can also find people in the cbox who might be wanting to write a thread with someone, or have a look in character plotters to see if anything there looks like a good fit for your character. Failing all of that, you can start a thread of your own. Some one will take an interest and get involved. Q. Can I post in other cities/countries?A. If you want to start posting in new locations that's absolutely fine, let the staff know and we'll set up a new board. That's how our New York board got started! Q. Can I kill another character?A. A player original character? As long as you have that player's permission then go ahead. Canon characters? Only with the express permission of the staff. NPCs that you have created? By all means, but remember that this is a world with consequences. If your character kills someone, they may very well have to pay the price. Q. Can I hurt other players' characters?A. This site is set in a turbulent time, some violence is to be expected, and as long as you have the player's permission and co-operation you can hurt them. Q. Bookmarks?A. Bookmarking a thread subscribes you to it, meaning that you will receive a notification whenever someone posts in the thread. Godmodding - Godmodding is defined as taking control of another player’s characters or creating a character that is invincible, indestructible and/or generally unbeatable.
- Godmodding is often used as a ‘Get out of Jail Free Card’ so that the player’s character can avoid whatever is going to happen. For example:
It is understandable to not want your character to get hurt, but the idea that Frank would simply avoid every single bullet and a grenade is simply implausible. Something had to hurt him, even if it was only a shot to the shoulder or a broken wrist. - Godmodding is frequently used during fight scenes to describe the effect your attack has. For example:
Unless you have already discussed it with the other member you should always leave attacks such as this open ended, giving them a chance to dodge or block.
Godmodding is heavily frowned upon, and if you are warned, but persist in doing so, it could result in a ban. |

Characters - All characters must be original unless you are applying for a canon. We don’t want to see characters that have been blatantly ripped from other universes. Inspiration is fine, copying will lead to your character not being approved.
- Mary Sues - There are no perfect people in real life, so we don’t want to see any perfect or all-powerful characters in here. A character that is deemed too ‘perfect’ will not be approved at the discretion of the moderator who examines your application.
- Character Apps will be locked after they have been approved. This is to prevent changes being made after staff approval. If you wish to make a change please PM a member of staff. If your request is approved we will unlock your App to allow you to make changes.
- Celebrity Claims (CC) - To maintain as realistic a feel as possible for the board your CC must be unique to your character. The only exception to this rule is in the case of identical twins, or situations where the depiction of the CC is significantly different (at staff discretion).
Powers- Characters can have a maximum of three clearly related abilities, though some abilities may have a variety of different effects. Exceptions may be made at mod discretion.
- Certain abilities are banned, either because of the potential for abuse, or because they are simply too powerful to make for fun roleplaying. Please see the power list for a full list of banned abilities.
Approval Process- After you post an app you must wait for it to be accepted before you post. This will usually happen within twenty-four hours unless staff are absent. Please be patient if this is the case and feel free to chat and plot in the Discord while you wait.

General Rules Forum Rules- Respect - This shouldn’t have to be said but it will be. Disagreements will happen, so will arguments, but at no point should it become heated or nasty. We don’t want to see name calling or bullying under any circumstances.
- Do not post until your character has been approved by staff.
Chatbox/Discord Rules- Respect - As this is the second time we have mentioned this I hope you understand the value of it. Please do not intentionally insult people, harass them or generally cause problems. We operate under a three strikes policy.
- Please do not try to break the filters, they are in place for a reason.
- Think of the children - Please avoid discussing sexual subjects in the Chatbox/Discord, we have PMs for that purpose. Innuendo is fine, joking and teasing is fine, but please remember that we have members of all ages.
- Please do not advertise other sites in the Chatbox/Discord.
Posting Rules- We are hosted by Proboards, and they have their own TOS. Please stick to them and avoid insane violence or excessively offensive wording in your posts to avoid us being shut down. That doesn't mean that your characters can't swear or engage in violence, it just means you need to exercise a little caution in how you use it.
- There are no posting requirements on the board, but please try and finish what you started, don't simply ghost a thread because you don't like where it's going.
- Quality not quantity - Post count is not the most important thing in the world. Avoid one sentence posts and try to stick to producing better quality posts rather than hordes of lower quality posts.
- Spell Check - Like above, poor spelling and grammar is hard to read. The odd typo is fine, but please respect your fellow members and take the time to proof-read your posts.
- No Godmodding - Please read the definition of Godmodding here.
- No major level destruction without staff approval.
- You can have one character in more than one thread, the flow of time in a roleplay environment is flexible, as long as we don’t have anything crazy like people on the other side of the world in two different threads occurring simultaneously, this is acceptable.
