HAIR // black[break]

ATTIRE[break][break]
Aoi always dresses ready for combat in form-fitting, monotone colors, tank tops when it’s warm, long-sleeved muscle shirts when it’s cold. She’s always wearing athletic leggings for easy movement and is rarely seen without her combat boots. Due to her height, it’s very difficult for her to find clothes that fit, so she’s sometimes relegated to ornate or garish patterns on her clothing that she is very much not a fan of, though it doesn’t bother her much. She’s a huge advocate for function over form. Her clothing is always clean and spotless. All her shirts and jackets have slits in the back for her wings to fit through.
[break][break]
Her hero outfit is comprised of an armored, metallic, dark purple suit, that covers her entire body. There’s a clear glass visor over her eyes, similar to a motorcycle helmet, allowing her to see. There are slits in the back for her wings to get through. The armor isn’t tough enough to stop a bullet, or even slow one down, but it will soften the impact of any punches or kicks she may receive.
[break][break]
GENERAL[break][break]
The first thing one notices about Aoi are her wings, resembling those of a dragonfly, comprised of connected clear chunks that shimmer in the light. They take up the whole of her back and make a buzzing sound when she flies. The second thing one notices about Aoi is her height. She is six foot four, which is extremely tall for a woman, and though this height only came about a year and a half ago, she wears it proudly and tactically. Her back his always erect, her muscles tense, ready for action. Her hair is pure black and perfectly straight. She never wears makeup and she does the minimum when it comes to hygiene, though she is religious about it, brushing her teeth at the same time every day, once at five thirty in the morning, again at eleven thirty at night, taking a shower every morning, and keeping her clothes clean, neat, and folded. The next thing one would notice about Aoi would be her muscles. She is incredibly fit. Her skin is rippling with strong, lean, absolutely intimidating muscles. Aoi has what some may call a resting bitch face. Her eyes are sharp, serious, alert, and she is rarely - if ever - seen smiling outside of very specific scenarios.

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]PERSONALITY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Aoi finds nothing funny. Her sense of humor disappeared somewhere around the age of six or seven. She takes everything incredibly seriously. It’s not that she doesn’t understand jokes or humor, she is simply not affected by it. More than that, she’s annoyed by it. Anything that doesn’t advance the conversation or give her new information is a nuisance, a waste of time. When talking with someone, she is curt, blunt, and to the point, saying exactly what needs to be said and nothing more. Thus, Aoi doesn’t have many friends, which she is perfectly okay with. Non-professional relationships are, for the most part, a waste of time. A part of her does yearn for an honest human connection, though she’d be hard pressed to find one given her general attitude.
[break][break]
As a friend, Aoi is extremely loyal. She will never betray a friend, she will never keep secrets, and she will protect her friends at all costs. She will remember their birthday, their preferences, she will know the perfect gift to give them. She is kind and caring and will always be there for a friend in need. She will emote around a friend, she will smile and laugh and frown. She will be her true and honest self. She will tell a friend about her day, she will disclose her innermost fears and anxieties. But that is if, and only if, a person manages to break through her near impenetrable bubble and actually befriend her.
[break][break]
Aoi’s allegiance, first and foremost, is to keeping the peace. She believes that order is incredibly important to a functional society, and someone has to keep that order, so it may as well be her. She follows the laws exactly as they are written, and she knows them by heart. Moreover, she enforces them. She’ll stop a jaywalker from crossing the street. If she sees anyone breaking the law in any way, she’ll do everything in her power to stop them and see to it personally that they get their just punishment.
[break][break]
She tends to see morality in black and white. Did someone break the law? Then they are a bad person and should be punished. Did someone follow the law even though it may seem advantageous not to? Then they are a good person. Did someone prevent another person from breaking the law within the confines of the legal system? Then they should be rewarded. Aoi’s entire morality is built around the law. Thus, if someone were to get hurt unjustly within the legal system, Aoi’s entire system would go out of balance. She doesn’t believe that can happen though, so she doesn’t worry about it. She will kill, but only if the law allows it. She does, however, try to avoid it.
[break][break]
Aoi is all about practicality. If it’s not efficient, it’s not worth her time. Thus, she never wears jewelry (she never even got her ears pierced) or makeup, she doesn’t wear clothing that would get in the way of combat. She doesn’t waste time with anything fiction, she only reads or views things that would advance her knowledge and ability to function in the world. She makes sure that every minute of her day is spent doing something productive.
[break][break]
She’s a creature of habit, waking up every morning at five o’clock and going to bed at midnight if work doesn’t require her to be up later (she really doesn’t need much sleep). She eats the same thing every day - calculated to be the exact recommended nutritional intake - and she’s been wearing the same set of clothing ever since she gained her powers. She’s not a fan of change in her personal life.
[break][break]
Aoi has a strict exercise regiment. If she’s not out upholding the law, she’s practicing her moves either on a bag or with a partner, or she’s at the gym decimating the exercise equipment. She doesn’t know if her muscles would actually lose their strength since the Event, but she makes damn sure they won’t. Plus, she likes exercising. It’s a good stress reliever and she secretly enjoys reveling in her strength, displaying her physical prowess over others.

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]HISTORY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Daiju Sato was the son of Japanese immigrants. He had two older siblings and one younger. They were a very tight knit family, as they grew up in a rather rural and racially homogenous area, and were often alienated because of their race. Despite this, they were happy in each others company.
[break][break]
When Daiju was ten, his family moved to Chicago, which was startling for Daiju. His family slowly started moving apart as his siblings found other friends and his parents became busy with work. Daiju made friends of his own, but what struck him most about his arrival to Chicago was the rampant violence and crime, the fact that he needed to watch his back down every street. Still he didn’t think about it much until one night, when he was fourteen, he was out with his friends a little later than he should have been, and out of nowhere, they got jumped. Daiju tried his best to defend his friends, but found himself overpowered by his much older and much more powerful assailants. It was on that day, as he covered his friend’s bleeding wound as another of his friends called 911, that he decided this needed to come to an end. People needed to feel safe, and he was going to help accomplish that.
[break][break]
Daiju entered the police academy as soon as he finished high school. He worked hard and quickly earned a reputation for his discipline and vigor in enforcing the law. He was offered a higher position as a detective, but refused, figuring he could do more on the streets in the blue uniform.
[break][break]
At some point, when Daiju was twenty-seven, he met a girl. They had a brief fling, and though he was careful, he wasn’t careful enough, and this girl got pregnant. This girl did not want the baby, but she didn’t want to have an abortion, so Daiju took it upon himself to raise the baby. This baby was Aoi, and she was the best thing to ever happen to Daiju.
[break][break]
Aoi grew up with a caring and loving father who imparted all his values about law and order to his daughter. She absorbed his wisdom, and she took it to extremes. Instead of Daiju reading children’s books to her daughter, she insisted he read to her all the laws the country instituted, and she would daydream about all the ways she could enforce these laws. If she ever caught her father doing the slightest household infraction, she would yell at him, and he would praise her for upholding the order in the house.
[break][break]
When Aoi was five, she started martial arts training and she’s been doing it religiously ever since. She ran the gambit of martial arts, muay thai kickboxing, jiu jitsu, judo, karate, krav maga, MMA, etc. She didn’t want for much else, so all her father’s money - and when she was old enough to get a job, her money - went to these martial arts classes. It wasn’t long before she was competing in tournaments, and, almost always, winning.
[break][break]
Along with her martial arts, she did very well in school. She studied hard, but she didn’t try to excel. She did what was necessary to succeed, nothing more, nothing less. She knew what she wanted to do with her life and she knew school didn’t play a huge part in it. She was going to be a police officer, just like her father.
[break][break]
So, as soon as she got her high school diploma, she entered the police academy and naturally, she excelled. She wasn’t especially popular, as she quickly became known for being quite the hardass and a stickler for the rules. But she didn’t mind being unpopular with her peers. She didn’t need friends. She was getting the job done, and she was doing so extremely effectively. She was quickly promoted but, following in her father’s footsteps, she stayed close to the streets.
[break][break]
Several months after the Event, she started getting an itch in her back, an itch that turned extremely painful. She ignored it the best she could, but eventually she couldn’t take it anymore and went to the doctor, but they couldn’t explain it. She also noticed, very, very gradually, that she was growing, nearly an inch a day. And she was getting stronger. She was hitting harder, lifting more. One day, something spouted out of her back. She went back to the doctor, and they came to the conclusion that she must be a metahuman, and that meant one thing to her. She could be a Hero.
[break][break]
Before her wings had even finished growing, she approached the Hero Program, and with her track record, abilities, and discipline, they signed her on almost immediately. Within a month, her wings had sprouted, her strength peaked, and she’d grown to six foot four. It took her some time to get used to these changes to her body, but she quickly found ways to use them to her advantage. She’s been an extremely diligent and loyal member of the Hero Program ever since.

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]POWER
[attr="class","hopelovetop"][attr="class","hopelovesub"]
ABILITY[break][break]
Aoi has dragonfly wings. The wings look fragile, but they’re as strong and thick as bulletproof glass, and can actually deflect bullets with ease. In order to fly, land, and carry her rather heavy wings effectively, her muscles grew significantly in power, and she gained nearly a foot in height.
[break][break]
LIMITS[break][break]
She can’t fly especially high, as she’ll start to get cold and lose oxygen, she can’t climb anywhere about four kilometers, and even then she can only reach it with difficulty. As for her strength, she is 1.5 times stronger than peak human ability.
[break][break]
WEAKNESSES[break][break]
The wings can be large and cumbersome, and can get in the way of doing simple things such as sitting comfortably or going unnoticed in a crowd (her height certainly adds to this). It has taken some time for her to get used to mauvering in combat with her wings and added height, and though she’s largely adapted to it, they can still get in the way.
