HAIR // Brown[break]
EYES // Blue[break]
SKIN // Caucasian[break][break]
ATTIRE[break][break]
Jack can frequently be found wearing typical teenage clothes. They enjoy underdressing for the reactions that it provokes, were they invited to a black tie event, they would show up in dungarees. T-shirts have clearly been found in thrift stores, and any jeans that weren't ripped, are now. Jack is rarely dressed in the attire of any specific gender, and frequently mixes and matches between the two.[break][break]
GENERAL[break][break]
At 5'7 Jack seems too skinny, like a horse that hasn't quite grown into it's height yet. They appear perpetually unimpressed, in a way that is often interpreted as patronising, for good reason. Their features are decidedly androgynous, never quite settling into the realm of male nor female. Jack makes efforts to maintain this look, with no wish to be confined to the limitations of either gender.

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]PERSONALITY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Jack is, in a word, brilliant. Already a genius, the biggest problem is that Jack knows it. At seventeen, Jack is already the most intelligent person on the planet. They are capable of the kind of advanced calculations that would put most Maths Professors to shame, and write frequently for a number of scientific journals under a range of pseudonyms. They have little patience for those they consider unintelligent, which is unfortunate, as Jack views most people they meet as dull, if not simply stupid.
[break][break]
Mostly a solitary soul, Jack requires little in the way of company. They don't mesh well with most people, and often take refuge in arrogance and intellect when meeting new people. They know the theories, but are less successful at applying them to actually making friends. It has resulted in a person more comfortable with the great thinkers of the past than the actual people of the present. This is particularly clear when it comes to those Jack's own age, who are, as far as they are concerned, hopelessly unambitious. Most adults are alternately patronising to Jack, or intimidated by their intellect, and Jack rarely reacts well to either.

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]HISTORY
[attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Metahuman abilities are difficult to understand, even the Families do not truly understand everything about metahumans. There has been some attempt amongst the Families to classify abilities, without much success, thanks to the very nature of abilities. Many are easily recognised, many are not.
[break][break]
Jack's ability is a rare one, and an unseen one. Not for them the flashy abilities of telekinesis or super strength. No. Jack's ability is an enhancement of what normally equalises humans and metahumans. The mind. Genius is not confined to metahumans, and as such abilities like Jack's, particularly when nascent and developing are regarded as simple natural intelligence.
[break][break]
In many families this would not have mattered, Jack would have been raised as an equally loved and valued child. The Fontaine family was not such a family. Emmanuel Fontaine was, and still is, an ambitious man. A child without powers was an embarrassment to him, and to his family. As a result Jack's childhood was lonely and empty. Mocked by their elder brother and sister, Jack hated the life they had.
[break][break]
They were not content to continue suffering, to being a second class citizen because of their family's prejudices. With the Event they seized their chance and left, isolating themselves from the rest of the Fontaine family and setting up shop in San Francisco, as far from their father as they could reasonably get.

[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]POWER
[attr="class","hopelovetop"][attr="class","hopelovesub"]
ABILITY[break][break]
Jack's ability is almost entirely mental in nature, which makes it difficult to pin down in terms of it's effect. Jack is, in no uncertain terms, a genius, although how much is as a result of their ability and how much is due to simple brilliance is impossible to ascertain. Needless to say, Jack is likely one of the greatest minds in a generation, and possibly the last few centuries. Not only can Jack breeze through even complex thought problems and advanced calculations, but they can apply that intelligence to advancing humankind. In theory.
[break][break]
Jack's ability to create technology is potent, and directly a result of the secondary aspect of their power, obsession. Jack's ability gives them a single minded focus on each new interest. This could be something as simple as a more efficient combustion engine, to something as advanced as a device capable of annihilating solid matter. These obsessions are fleeting, but powerful.[break][break]
LIMITS[break][break]
The limits of modern science are mocked by Jack's creations, yet some of them are so far ahead as to be impossible to replicate. Though Jack can create some things that are suitable for mass production, the vast majority are not. The most advanced apparently break down when they are simply removed from their presence, and require frequent upkeep and maintenance of the kind only Jack is qualified to apply.
[break][break]
This means that although Jack may be capable of designing things for the military, most of what they create will only be a few years ahead by comparison. Anything that is truly science fiction is more limited in scope, and impossible to mass produce. They are also expensive. Jack is clever enough to play the stock market, but they still need to do that before they can spend money they don't have.
[break][break]
Jack's obsessions are capable of bending the limits of what can be imagined possible, but many of these devices may be limited in scope. While Jack can usually continue to maintain anything created during an obsession, they cannot repeat the process and create the same device again. Usually these obsessions will last until they have been satisfied, but it is possible for them to be interrupted partway through a project, leaving it never to be completed.
[break][break]
Anything created outside of these obsessions may well be at the level or even beyond that of
modern technology, but it will not reach the paradigm shifting heights of those devices created directly by Jack's obsessive genius.
[break][break]
WEAKNESSES[break][break]
The more advanced a piece of technology Jack creates, the more prone it is to failure. This can be at extremely unfortunate times just as much as when being improved or upgraded. Despite their advanced intellect, Jack's attention can be almost as fleeting as that of a goldfish. It can be difficult for them to concentrate on the task at hand, particularly if an idea or design has just occurred to them. There is no guarantee that their obsessions will remain for long enough for the device in question to be completed. In addition, all but the most simple of devices created and designed by Jack can only be maintained by the same, even a metahuman with similar powers would struggle to understand the technology at play.[break][break]
