Much to her dismay, Maia’s stylist had adorned her in clothing from top designers whose names Maia care scarcely spell better yet pronounce. During her shows she’s worn everything from sequined mini dresses, glittery bodysuits, and sheer tunics to two piece leather suits and form fitting halter gowns. However, when not on the road Maia’s style is unapologetically basic. Maia abhors all clothing that she deems restrictive including under garments and will attempt to get away with wearing a sports bra as much as she can. Ripped leggings with a large jersey and a pair of comfortable sneakers as well as oversized crochet cardigans with skinny jeans and ballet flats are her favorite ensemble for lazy days at home. Despite the fact that it makes her stylist cringe, Maia has also been known to wear camouflage cropped jackets and the occasional pair of denim overalls.

High school sweethearts Shanna and Matthew had been a couple during most of their tenure in high school and as most infatuated teenagers do figured that they would be together forever. However, as graduation neared the two found that they were no longer on the same page regarding their futures as Matthew wished to stay close to home and attend the Bronx Community College while Shanna sought to broaden her horizons and attend the California Institute of the Arts. While the couple communicated daily through social media predominantly, as their individual schedules became fuller communication became less frequent until they eventually ceased contacting one another at all. Hence the two lovers parted ways in the middle of her freshman year. With her studies occupying the bulk of her time, it wasn’t until nearly the end of her sophomore year that Shanna even considered dating again when she met a handsome man named Jorge Morales who swept the young woman off her feet.

The pair had a very turbulent on and off relationship well up until the beginning of her senior year in which she discovered that she was with child. With no desire to be a father, Jorge stubbornly refused to offer any financial or emotional support even going as far as to claim that he was uncertain of the child’s paternity and demanding that Shanna take a paternity test once the child was born before he rendered any aid. Shanna whom had only had two partners thus far refused to be subjected to such humiliation. Moving in with her parents until she could get back on her feet, Shanna took a part time job as a waitress in a mom and pop styled diner. While they never said as much, Shanna was well aware that she and her child were a burden on her parents whom had been barely making ends meet prior to their arrival. Desperate to relieve her parents’ burden Shanna secretly took a job as an exotic dancer at an ill reputed gentleman’s club. It wasn’t the most respectable profession but it did afford the young mother enough of an income to move herself and Maia into a small loft apartment.

One afternoon while she was watching TV with five year old Maia, Maia began singing along with the show’s theme song. It was then that she realized that her daughter had inherited her singing voice. With the full understanding that there was only so much that she herself could teach her, Shanna began picking up extra hours at the club in an effort to pull together enough money to get Maia voice lessons. Over the years, Maia’s singing improved significantly giving Shanna the confidence to begin entering her in competitions when she turned 12. Within a year and a half Maia had won several talent competitions and even sang the national anthem in a packed baseball stadium.

However, a few days after her 15th birthday Maia was contacted through her youtube account by the Scout who requested a copy of her demo. She is currently preparing to go on her first worldwide tour.

The severity of the affect of this ability is solely dependent upon how long physical contact is maintained. i.e. If her victim is feeling a bit peckish and shakes hands with her then the victim's appetite level might be increased to actively being hungry. If she were to embrace them in an extended hunger they may then feel famished and if contact is maintained for much longer than that then they will then begin to feel as if they are starving and need to eat immediately.
