[googlefont=Inconsolata] Isaiah had no option but to smile politely and nod. He didn't want to be an asshole and definitely didn't want to make this guy- Brian, he had introduced himself as- feel uncomfortable. But it was clear there were some issues going on. Word vomit flew out of Brian's mouth like exhaust fumes out of a monster truck. Isaiah got the distinct impression that Brian had been yearning for someone to talk to, and that maybe there wasn't a whole lot of communication with other people in Brian's world. His comments all seemed prepared in a way, like they were rehearsed, and then rushed by childlike excitement. "Don't worry about it, man," he said giving a playful slap on the other guy's shoulder. "I'm pretty damn awkward myself and I get out plenty. It's all good." He smiled wide, hoping to make Brian feel at ease. It was an easy white lie to tell. Isaiah definitely would never have classified himself as awkward, and briefly tried to recall a single memory in his entire life where he had felt awkward in a social situation before giving it up as an exercise in futility. This Brian guy was weird, there was no question about it, but he seemed harmless enough. Actually, he seemed like a genuinely nice dude who was trying. Isaiah had to respect that. "Yes, the pittie is mine too," Isaiah said to his new friend. He bent down to work on petting Athena's back while Brian seemed very content with himself to pet the German Shepherd on her head and behind her ears. Isaiah looked up and whistled out his call for Cesar; a single note that started low then swelled high and back low again, almost wobbling like the sound of a passing siren for three seconds. Cesar nipped cautiously as the Shibu still humping him to get the other dog to back off so that he could bound towards his master as well. "This is Cesar," he said introducing his blue nose pit to Brian. Cesar sat dutifully but kept his posture upright and body tense, not sure what to make of Brian initially. Where Athena oozed a kind of relaxed confidence that allowed her to let her guard down while the stranger petted her, Cesar was more wary and less inclined to trust those he did not know well. Not that he would ever do anything about it, of course. Cesar was an incredibly loyal dog and Isaiah knew that he would never attack anyone... unless he had been commanded to. "I've been training both of these babies since they were puppies, so I have a lot of trust built up with them, but the whistle trick was still hard to teach them. I think probably because their ears work so well and there's so much noise in the city... but they seem to have finally gotten it down," Isaiah said to keep the conversation going. Nothing made him more uneasy than awkward pauses or silence. It seemed to be a trait he and Brian both shared, actually, although in his own mind Isaiah was a better conversationalist. The notion that such an opinion could be rude very quickly entered his mind before being pushed into the corners again. "Do you have any pets at home?" he turned to the dogless man in the dog park. [googlefont=Inconsolata] He tapped his toe lightly against the grass and soil beneath him, the Airpods in his ears ringing with a melodic and uplifting techno beat. He wasn't the type of person whose earphones seemed to be glued to his skull; he never had them in when he was walking the dogs, for example. As their pack leader it was important for him to be aware and "in the game," so to speak, at all times. Athena and Cesar needed to maintain a very healthy level of trust and respect for their master if Isaiah hoped to keep them obedient... especially if he wanted to be able to control them while they were under the influence of his power. His private moment wasn't meant to last, however. He was vaguely aware of someone talking at him halfway through they were finished mumbling their first sentence. Plucking his pods out of his ears, he turned to face the source of the voice, bringing a hand up to his eyes to block the glare of the sun and get a better look at the person's face. It was a man, Isaiah's age or close enough to it, and he looked... off. Isaiah noticed a contorted look on his face, like he had physically had to tense himself to work up the courage to engage in conversation. Isaiah managed to tune in to the man's words just in time to catch the last little bit of what he was saying. ”She’s um...they’re um...really...They look uh, good, n-nice, pretty.” What in the world was he talking about? But then Isaiah followed the man's line of vision and realized that he was talking about Athena. A smile instantly spread across Isaiah's face. He was pretty one-track minded when it came to praising his pets... even if the guy did seem a little strange, Isaiah wasn't going to deny himself the opportunity to agree with someone who was saying how awesome his dogs were. "Thanks!" Isaiah responded with a beaming grin. "When she was a puppy her coat was a lot more muted, but the older she's gotten the more vibrant the gold has become. Which seems weird, right? You'd think it would work like with humans... the older we get, the grayer our hair becomes." He looked over at Athena, still chasing around the lab. He let out one whistle, its tone long and low. Immediately both Athena and Cesar stopped what they were doing and looked up to their master, just as they had been trained to do. He let out another whistle mere seconds after the first, this one two short and staccato notes, pitched low and then high. Immediately Athena bolted towards the two men, while Cesar stayed in his place, still dutifully ignoring the Shibu furiously humping at his leg. Despite the smaller dog's persistent nagging, Cesar kept his gaze focused solely on Isaiah. Good job, Cesar, Isaiah thought to himself with a grin. He had calls for each of the dogs individually and then the two of them as a group. Their training really was coming along nicely! Athena made her way to the pair of humans and leaned her body weight ever so slightly against Isaiah's leg. He reached a hand down and ran it through her thick golden mane. "This is Athena," Isaiah said to the man who had approached him. "And you can definitely pet her. Always smart to ask around a dog you don't know, but she's super friendly. Go ahead!" The feel of the summer heat on his neck, the smell of freshly cut grass, and the sound of dogs barking... if there was a heaven and Isaiah Moore was going there, it would look a lot like this. Dog parks were possibly his favorite place on Earth. He had visited this location many times before and kept coming back; the people were friendly and their dogs were on the whole very well behaved. Few things frustrated Isaiah than a poorly trained dog.
His own two pups were being perfect... as usual. It was such a source of pride for him to know how well trained and well socialized his dogs were. Athena, his beautiful and athletic German Shepherd, was strutting around the perimeter of the dog park proudly, engaged in a game of chase with a lab. She was strong and confident, and even though she'd been that way all her life, sometimes Isaiah still laughed at how bold she could be. Cesar, however, was a different story. The broad shouldered staffy wasn't necessarily lacking confidence, he was just indifferent to most external stimuli. At the present moment a smaller Shibu was sniffing all around Cesar's private areas and attempting to latch on to the bigger dog's backside, but the pit bull didn't seem to notice, and if he did notice, he didn't seem to mind.
As he sat on the bench inside the dog park, outwardly he was calm, cool and relaxed. Inwardly, however, he felt a crackle of electricity surging through his veins. He was used to it now, as it happened anytime he got near any sort of canine. But here in a dog park where there were many of them gathered together? It felt like someone had plugged him into an industrial sized battery and turned the power all the way up. He could feel the energy of each individual dog, and even though he didn't know their names, he felt connected to a part of each of their life sources. Their raw power. Not that he would ever use it on a dog he hadn't spent months training, though- the results would be catastrophic.
No, instead of powering up any of the dogs here at the park and letting the whole world know that he was Cerebus, the masked vigilante who used two hell hounds to help extract justice against wrongdoers, he would just sit here in the dog park, enjoying time with his pets, being a regular kid.

ATTIRE[break][break]
Isaiah is a typical preppy college boy who’s way too concerned with how others judge his looks. Polo Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic, H&M and the like comprise the majority of his wardrobe. In the summer it’s a pair of nice shorts with a button down and some Sperrys or sandals; when it’s a bit cooler outside, expect to see him in a pair of fitted jeans or a casual style chino, again with a button down shirt and some sort of vest or sweater.
[break][break]
Despite his preppy nature, Isaiah tends to gravitate towards more muted colors. Blacks, grays, whites, and navys are his usual go-to colors, although he does have items in other shades. He’s definitely a bit of a sneakerhead and had multiple pairs of shoes, spanning from very casual to pretty formal. As far as accessories go, he’s never caught without a watch (on his right wrist as he’s left handed) and a pair of Ray Ban Aviators.
[break][break]
GENERAL[break][break]
They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but Isaiah Moore has been complimented on his looks enough times to conclude that objective fact might have a part to play in it as well. He stands at 6’2 and weighs in at 155lbs. Tall and slender with traditionally dark features, Isaiah is the stereotypical boy next door. His hair is thick and wavy and must be constantly maintained, lest it grow into an untamable mess of knots and tangles. His smile is wide and genuine, his eyes soft and without judgment or malice.
[break][break]
One flaw that Isaiah finds in his own appearance is the persistence of childhood acne. It first reared its ugly head when he was 15 and has stuck around since then, sometimes being barely noticable and other times covering seemingly every square inch of his face. He’s also a nail biter so his fingernails are always short and messy; he has long lanky arms and feet about two sizes too big for his already taller than average body.
[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]PERSONALITY [attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Why does a guy like Isaiah Moore have any reason to be anything other than happy-go-lucky, relaxed, and chill? Life has been pretty good to him, and this fact has shaped his personality into someone who is easy going, slow to anger, and quick to share a laugh. He’s a jovial guy who never meets a stranger, and the ability to network and create connections with people is something that’s always brought him joy. He’s not a quick witted person always ready with a wisecrack; his charm comes from his down to earth personality and ability to make people feel welcome in almost any situation.
[break][break]
The downside for a person like Isaiah is that, because he is used to things in his life going smoothly and usually getting his way, he doesn’t react the best when plans go awry. He can start to come undone at the first sign of trouble, his once calm and languid demeanor suddenly becoming manic and worried. He’s also got a bit of a selfish streak in him. Although on most days he’s willing to help out people in small ways, don’t ask him to do anything that might require more than 15 minutes or a few bucks. He’s very selfish with his time and often finds himself thinking, “What’s in this for me?’ or “What can I get out of this?”
[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]HISTORY [attr="class","hopelovetop"]
Isaiah Moore was born on a sunny spring day in April, the youngest of four and a surprise that his parents had neither planned for or particularly wanted. Still, Isaiah was showered with love from the first and completed the family. Both of his parents were veterinarians. They enjoyed an upper-middle class lifestyle where both of his parents still had to work hard to maintain their standard of living, but nobody went without and very few material wants were denied. They vacationed twice a year, sometimes three times if Mom and Dad could get time away from the clinic.
[break][break]
Isaiah spent his early years of education enrolled in private schools; these weren’t the elite types of institutions where celebrity parents sent their kids to fast track them to the Ivy League, though. Most of the kids in his class were the children of the working-class wealthy: accountants, doctors, lawyers, et cetera. He always did well in school and enjoyed learning almost as much as he enjoyed socializing with his classmates.
[break][break]
When he was 14 he began to think about his future (this came at his parents’ very heavy bequest and with their prodding). He decided that being a veterinarian would be as good a career path as any; it had served his family well so far and he enjoyed being around all types of animals, especially dogs. The winter break of his freshman year of highschool he began working as a kennel tech at his parents’ veterinary clinic. It was a hugely positive experience, and it helped him realize that he had a natural talent for dealing with animals.
[break][break]
It was the summer after his senior year when everything changed. It had been less than 3 weeks since he’d graduated. He wascoming home from the dog park with his Australian Shepherd Luna when a man lunged out at them and threatened him with a knife, demanding money. After a brief struggle, Luna… changed. Her small frame (she was only 5 months old at the time) began to churn and grow, like something deep inside her was bursting to get out. She became the roughly the size of a wolf and was able to scare off their attacker.
[break][break]
That was the day he learned he had powers. He kept the secret to himself although he did continue to use his power on Luna to test its limits and see what he could do. When he realized that powers were spreading all over the world, he immediately made it his goal to join a hero group, although that proved harder than just walking up to the heroes and asking for a job application. So he has been working as a vigilante, fighting crime whenever he can, hoping for an invitation to a more formal group.
[attr="class","hopelovetitle"]POWER [attr="class","hopelovetop"][attr="class","hopelovesub"]
ABILITY[break][break]
Isaiah can power up and enhance the physical size, shape and strength of canines until they are the size of small SUVs and virtually unrecognizable from their original form. When he is using his power on them, the dogs are magnitudes stronger, faster, more agile, and more ferocious than they would be otherwise. When his power goes to work on them, they don’t just become larger looking versions of the types of dogs they are. Bones crunch, muscles bulge, features get twisted and deformed. Coverings of bony plates and spikes spread out across their bodies, and their tails become prehensile.
[break][break]
LIMITS[break][break]
Currently Isaiah can only use his power on two medium/large sized dogs at a time, or three smaller breeds of dog. The dogs have to stay within roughly 1,000 feet of him or else his effect on them begins to wane, and it wanes rapidly. The upper limit as far as time is concerned would be roughly 45 minutes, although Isaiah could keep his dogs transformed for up to an hour if the situation absolutely called for it… he would just have a killer headache the following day.
[break][break]
WEAKNESSES[break][break]
The biggest weakness is that, while Isaiah’s power gives him physical control over the dogs, he has no telepathic link with the dogs once his power is in use. He’s not controlling them with his mind, but with hand commands and signals and shouts. As such he can only use his power on dogs that he knows well and has personally trained, or else they could go wild and kill everyone and everything around them, including Isaiah. This is actually still a problem with dogs even that he has trained since birth, because one of the effects of his power is that it can cause the dogs to become more feral than they might otherwise have been.
