In the end everything collides 215 @trapperjanesalter "Yes, bring the package and we'll uphold our end of the deal."
Sonnet was speaking in English, though she kept her words clipped and short. She was under no illusions that anyone with half a brain could see straight through the half-code she and her contact were communicating in. But it wouldn't hold up in court, there wasn't enough evidence there for a conviction even if the line was tapped. Still, it sounded needlessly like something out of a Hollywood movie. Maybe the fat cats in Los Angeles had got something right after all.
She hung up the phone after another minute or so. This was a big deal, and with the way her deals had been going recently, it needed to go well. She'd had no end of interference and bad luck in things that should have been painless, and she was lucky that she still had all her fingers. It was likely only thanks to Kenshin's predominantly modern attitude that she had been spared the traditional Yakuza punishment. She might be a lieutenant, but the way things had been going she was proving to be more of an embarrassment than a resource, despite her metahuman abilities.
Nothing was going to get in the way of this deal.
At least that was the plan…

It was a lazy day, just experimenting more and more with her abilities. Today it was telecommunications she was listening in on. Trapper found it fun to listen in on others phone calls. It was always something different, from a boyfriend-girlfriend goo'ing over each other to someone just learning they have cancer and have to have their leg amputated. Today it sounded like Trapper had stumbled upon what sounded like a drug deal. Something she would love to in investigate. Would it be possible to get reward money for helping police nab the bad guys? Trapper did not know but she was willing to find out. Of course the area had to be in the sketchiest part of town, even Trapper was nervous to go there yet she did anyway. She had jeans on and a light salmon colored top on, a black light weight sweater pulled over the polo shirt and sneakers. She carried a messager bag with her wallet of course, a laptop, notebook and assortment of pens and pencils and other small stuff and of course binoculars. Now she just needed to find a hiding spot near the location, behind a dumpster was so rookie and stereo typical, for this though perfect. Trapper waited silently for something to happen.

In the end everything collides 395 @trapperjanesalter Sonnet had walked to this meeting. She could have been there in an eyeblink, but her man was carrying a large amount of money, and part of her responsibility was to ensure that money went to the right hands. She could have just teleported there with ease, carrying the case herself, but as a Lieutenant, she was too high ranking to simply be reduced to the level of a mule. No, someone of lower status would carry the money, but she would be present to ensure everything went according to plan. The last deal like this had been interrupted by a very drunk exmember of the military and had resulted in the deaths of one of the men they had been dealing with and the near fatal injury of one of her own.
This time they had chosen a location with a far lower chance of the deal being interrupted in such a way. It was more likely that a member of the public might stumble down the alleyway, but in the middle of the day it was unlikely anyone would. This was a dirty and run down part of town, with the kind of alley's you avoided even with the bright light of day filling the streets.
The men were there with two large duffels, though two of them were holding guns, obviously having heard about what had happened the last time a deal like this had gone down. Sonnet glanced at both bags. They looked about the right size, but there was no confirmation that the contents were legitimate.
"You have it?"
One of them hefted a duffel bag, slamming it down on top of a precarious stack of wooden crates, doubtless left here by a restaurant or business and now pressed into use as a makeshift table. He unzipped the bag, showing that it was full of plastic wrapped bricks of white powder. When he spoke it was with a thickly southern accent, gruff.
"You have yours?"
Sonnet nodded to her two men, the one with the briefcase opened it to flash the stacks of cash at the men, while the other stepped forwards to test Heroin, pulling a knife from his pocket and sticking the small but sharp blade into the side of one of the bricks.
He licked it, then smiled at Sonnet, speaking in heavily accented English, "Good shit."

Trapper would not have to wait long when she would spot two men with large duffles and big guns. The sight of the guns now made Trapper nervous, yet now she was trapped behind the dumpster. Thinking fast, she got out her binoculars and her cell phone, the latter she put on video record and steadily aimed the device towards the pair when three people came out of no where. Maybe a meta? Trapper thought as she looked through the binoculars to see better. The bags hitting the wooden pallets made a large thud as the people stared at the two bags like gold. What was inside was kinda like gold but not. Trapper didn't know what was inside of them but from the communications she heard she would think it was drugs. Still holding the phone up to record, Trapper would use her own ability to make sure the video would upload right into cloud storage, as her phone would not have that kind of storage capacity. Carefully placing down the binoculars she would wave her hand in the air as she manipulated a telecommunications line. She would directly input a fax to the police dispatch to send police quick for someone being attacked. She knew that someone being attacked was more important then a drug deal and would likely be dispatched faster then if she told the truth. Trapper would then start to watch the group again as they exchanged looks and stuff. However when Trapper when to go pick up her binoculars, she wasn't watching what she was doing and knocked them over instead. The binoculars made contact with the dumpster and made a slight noise. That sent Trapper diving for better cover and in the process knocked into more stuff making more noise. Trapper said "Sh*t" under her breath as the situation made her heart beat race.

In the end everything collides 485 @trapperjanesalter Everyone was already wound up, Sonnet because the last two deals she'd made had gone down the pan, the men she was dealing with because Sonnet tended to be the only one who walked away from those situations.
Everybody's head snapped round at the faint noise. In any other situation it might have been dismissed as rats or a hobo, but with nearly a million dollars worth of Heroin in the open, everything was suspect. One of the men with the duffels started forwards raising his gun. The thing was black and boxy, far bigger than you'd have expected the average street level dealer to be carrying.
Sonnet swore in Japanese, glancing in the direction of her own men, who slowly drew their guns. They certainly didn't want to be the reason this situation turned into a fire fight. Sonnet didn't bother drawing her weapon yet, knowing that there was a good chance it would only escalate the situation. Instead she spoke, "I've got it."
There was such a tone of command in her voice that the thug who had been advancing towards the dumpster hesitated. It was only for a moment, but long enough for Sonnet to close the distance between them and clap a hand on his shoulder to warn him before she disappeared.
Almost the moment she vanished from the air beside the man she reappeared behind the dumpster. It was tall, and at only five foot two it was only possible to see that she had appeared behind the heavy metal object, but not what she was doing.
What she was doing was staring with confusion, and then anger at the girl, no, the child crouched before her. She was holding a pair of binoculars.
"Shit is right."
Sonnet spoke quietly, quiet enough that no one else but the girl would hear her. This was not what she wanted happening right now. Knowing she was out of sight, she raised a finger to her lips, followed by a death glare that said in no uncertain terms that the girl should wait there. Confidently, she strode back around the dumpster.
"Just a rat, it's fine. We must wrap this up."
It was only another minute or so, enough time for the men to confirm that the money handed over was indeed the amount agreed upon. Then they all started splitting up. Sonnet gave her men a bag each, and instructed them to return by themselves. They looked curious, but knew better than to question their famously violent tempered boss.
When she turned back, she waited for the men to leave before she walked back to the dumpster. There was no way the girl could have left without being spotted, either by her, or the armed men she had been dealing with. As a result she was already glowering as she rounded the corner of the dumpster.
"What the fuck are you doing?"

Well that is not what she wanted to happen, yet she could not change time. Glancing up into the air she would check the police dispatch communication line, her call had not been dispatched yet. Go figure that on this day and time the police would be busy, not that they aren't already. With a sigh Trapper stayed still hoping they would leave.
That was until the lone female of the group she had been watching, was now right in front of her! She didn't make a sound as the female held her finger over her mouth and then disappeared again. Trapper could hear the deal being completed but did not dare move from her hiding spot, even for a glance.
The female would come back once the guys with the guns left and looked at her asking her what she was doing. Trapper forced a fake smile "Looking for a four leaf clover?" she said. Trapper wasn't good at lying and that fact clearly showed.
Trapper stood up from her croutching position and dusted herself off with her free hand. Looking around then at the female. "Yeah, I'm guessing that didn't sell you?" meaning that her lie about the clover was clearly seen as it was, a lie.
"So...." Trapper would start to say something only to lose her train of thought when she heard on the police communications line that her called had been dispatched. Looking directly at the female she stared at her with a serious look "Come on we need to get out of this area, now!" Trapper didn't have time to explain to her but she started to pack her things in her bag to leave. Trapper knew that usually the police had about a three minute response time, pending of course where they were when dispatched.

In the end everything collides 258 Sonnet's jaw tightened at the clear lie, and a flare of anger creeped onto her face. She was about to speak again, to snap at the girl before she stood and owned up. She clenched her teeth instead. At least she had the honesty to come clean when she was caught red handed. It was only a moment later when the girl's expression changed. She looked almost distracted, before looking straight at the diminutive Yakuza lieutenant.
She looked about, then back at the girl, "You called the fucking cops?"
In reality she could have just left the girl behind, but she had no idea what she had seen, heard, or even recorded. Life had become much harder for drug dealers since the advent of cameras on every phone. She reacted automatically, reaching out to clamp a hand onto the girl's shoulder then focusing and pushing them both through space. The alleyway was empty before anyone could even hear the sirens…
They reappeared in another alleyway, although this one was on the opposite side of town. She stepped smartly away from the girl, knowing that vomit would be forthcoming. She'd been told the experience was something like being turned inside out. She didn't have that issue, but everyone she had ever taken with her threw up on the first trip, and most took a few trips to get used to it.
She turned back once the girl had finished emptying her stomach onto the ground.

As Trapper was preparing to leave, the female had yelled out "You called the cops?". However before she could even reply or explain, the female placed a firm grip on her shoulder and the next thing Trapper knew she was someplace else. The sudden jerking through the females wormhole if that's what its called sent Trapper falling to the ground, vomiting what little she had in her stomach. After the vomiting and dizziness stopped she could now clearly see an upset to the point of rage female standing above her. The female had asked what she had seen.
Trapper reached into her bag for a bottle of water that she took a swig of then spitting out on the ground next to her. "I think you know what I saw, your smart aren't you?" Trapper however was listening to the happenings around her on the communications lines, a growing favorite past time. Yet she did not put out an update or such. Trapper was a bit amused by the female. "That's a neat trick, teleportation or wormhole manipulation?" Not that Trapper would really know the difference it just sounded good.
She happened to see some vomit had gotten on her top and she exclaimed "Oh just great, that is just great, thanks to you this top is ruined!" Trapper knew she needed some time to try to get an update to the police but with the female so close to her she didn't care go waving her arms around to manipulate the frequencies she needed.
"Hey, I never did catch your name? I'm TJ, nice to meet you" Holding out her sticky hand for the female. Trapper gave her the abbreviation for her name so she wouldn't have her real name. Trapper forced another smile dispite a growing fear that she had bitten off more then she could handle herself.

In the end everything collides 325 @trapperjanesalter "No shit kid, I don't have to be smart to know what you saw. What you're going to do now, is hand me your unlocked phone so I can delete whatever you recorded as well."
She didn't bother responding to the girl's question, it didn't really matter, but at the same time, she also wasn't going to give the girl any more information on her ability than strictly necessary. The girl was complaining now about the damage done to her shirt, she had managed to vomit down most of the front of it. She wouldn't be the first to do such a thing after a trip with Sonnet, and doubtless she wouldn't be the last.
Sonnet grunted absent-mindedly in response as she pulled out her own phone, texting short messages to the two men she'd taken with her to the meeting. She ignored the extended hand, after a quick glance to check that there wasn't a phone in it. "You're just lucky it's vomit and not blood kid. Either of those guys I was dealing with would have just wasted you right then and there."
She tucked her phone away, the movement of her jacket revealing the sleek black butt of her own gun hidden away in a shoulder holster. "Now hand over your phone, unlocked, before I take it from you."
There was no real threat in the voice, just a hard, flat, boredom. She likely could have simply killed the girl then and there. Someone would have gone looking for her, but Sonnet was willing to bet she hadn't told anyone where she was going, and it wasn't as if a quick hop over to New Jersey was beyond her. She'd have to eat there if she did, but there were plenty of places she could stash a body without risk of discovery for a long time. Strangely though, she found herself oddly unwilling to kill the girl, however stupid she might seem.
