LIVING ON THE EDGE, FIGHTING CRIME, SPINNING WEBS, LOOKING UP WITH NO SURPRISE, ARRIVING AT THE SPEED OF TIME— FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN [attr="class","monsterexo"]The guy behind the mask didn’t quite prompt himself to follow what might have been most logic but rather, he just gave them moral support. Almost like that kind of hero who would rush to let you rest over his shoulder, but, in the end, it didn’t even feel like he was doing anything— he liked this. He was usually the kind of chill guy who just swept in and would talk with you, chill, obviously a joke. Jokes were mandatory. Though, yeah, he should have probably just tried to help as many as out as possible while the other was out getting a van. She finally came back, too, and with another van! But she didn’t seem too pleased, for reasons he couldn’t tell— and he could swear he heard something as he perked an eyebrow out of curiosity. “ ‘You said something?” Maybe it was one of the thugs and all. Not that he really knew the difference between Japanese and whatever language they spoke. As soon as she stepped out and pushed the doors slightly more apart, to allow them to leave, Spidey also proceeded to sort of… guide them out? Or give them assistance. Just being your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, in a few words. She then gave instructions and left August with a smile on his face as she seemingly froze to ‘indicate’ him for a short moment. “ Nope. It’s, friendly neighborhood Spidey,” - he would have probably winked and shot the tip of his index finger towards her, but he avoided given the situation they were in— but she also gave him a question he actually believed to be hilarious. Why? Well, if you were a nerd like him, you’d know that Peter Parker didn’t know how to drive for a large part of his life. But thankfully, August Young had claimed his powers long after he was old enough for him to get a license— to be honest, that much old that you’d expect someone to drive and all, especially if they were married. “ Sure I do, you, uh,” - the man paused briefly as he adjusted his voice lower than usual, almost as if he meant it as a side comment. “ What do I call you?” MADE BY ★MEULK [newclass=.monsterexo]line-height:14px;[/newclass][newclass=.monsterexo b]color:#da0d0d;[/newclass]

In the end everything collides 377 @spidey She raised an eyebrow as the vigilante called her out on her muttered Japanese, she responded abruptly, with a tone that suggested she was not going on to explain herself. "Yeah."
She left it there. No doubt the vigilante would realise that she was not going to continue, and in fact that what she had said was intended to be rude in some manner. She gestured to the frightened looking women, none of whom looked particularly comforted by her black masked visage. Pointing to the van, she did her best to indicate that they would be safe, but that they needed to get in the van.
"Get in and we'll take you someplace else."
The question however, surprised her, it wasn't as if she could just share her name with him, or any of the others. Instead her mind went to a few comments that had been made in the past.
"Shortcut. Call me Shortcut."
Feeling awkward at having to have made up a name on the spot, she turned away, vanishing once more. The last van was actually locked, and this time had no keys in it. No doubt she could have found them if she'd gone through the pockets of the unconscious or cowering crooks. But that would take too long. She teleported inside instead, mindful of her low energy levels now. If she kept pushing she'd start losing weight, and she would lose it fast.
Fortunately, it was an old vehicle, which made hotwiring it fairly easy. She silently thanked her father's old lieutenant, the man who had taught her how to hotwire a car. She felt momentarily guilty that she was using it to hamper crime, but took solace in the fact that she was hampering the activities of a competing criminal syndicate. The Yakuza did business with the Ukrainians, but they were far from allies.
She returned with the van only a few minutes after she had left, to discover that the women were clustered around the van she'd left with Spidey. It was going to be a tight fit, but if they all squeezed in they should be able to take the women somewhere safe. Where that would be though she had no idea.
"So… uh… where do we take them?"

LIVING ON THE EDGE, FIGHTING CRIME, SPINNING WEBS, LOOKING UP WITH NO SURPRISE, ARRIVING AT THE SPEED OF TIME— FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN [attr="class","monsterexo"]From beneath the mask, the vigilante actually furrowed one of his eyebrows as he stared at her for a moment. She said something, yeah, but apparently, she wasn’t going to pull it out once more. Sure, that was kind of suspicious, but again, he didn’t quite inquire it. He probably shouldn’t have and it could have been about anything but he still slowly nodded his head a few times as he paced off. “ Cool,” - responded the man as he watched plenty of women leave that huge ‘cartridge’, one could say, well, kind of a weird comparison but yeah. All of them seemed to have been taken out as the crimson masked hero slowly peeked in and made sure no one was being left behind. In the moment of gathering, though, when the man beneath the mask genuinely wondered his ally’s identity, she gave him quite a… well, it was a simple name! He liked it, but he just wondered if she had given that to him out of nowhere or perhaps it was something more. “ Shortcut? Why’s tha—” Not before he was done that she turned around and went away out of nowhere as he stared at the emptiness for a few moments. “ Ah, that’s why,” - stated the man with an upright smile on his face as the corner of his lips lifted and then just moved on to help the ladies in one of the vans that she had brought. Soon enough, the other did come back with another van. August could not help but wonder if they were going to be enough, but at best it was just going to be a loud, tight package— something like that. Anyway! Spidey was quick to climb up and rest both his crossed arms at the van door’s window as he just looked up at the other and shrugged. Where could they take them? “ I actually have no idea. Honestly. I would say the police station because it’s probably the only guys who can help out with this,” - responded the man before he chuckled. “ Like, c’mon, we can’t taxi them all to their places. I mean, we could but, you know… the police can do it quicker.” August huffed behind the mask as he nodded his head silently. “ Problem is I don’t think either of us can really go there and tell them about it. I don’t know anything about you, but we both wear masks for a reason, I guess. So yeah, what’s it gonna be?” Soon, Spidey let go as he dropped down and made his way to the other van as he hopped up to the door and slid it open before he crawled in and sat at the driver’s seat before he shut the door and locked it before he rolled the opposite door’s window as he looked at the other. “ We could always try and drop them nearby and just alert them somehow about it. But I dunno how right now." MADE BY ★MEULK [newclass=.monsterexo]line-height:14px;[/newclass][newclass=.monsterexo b]color:#da0d0d;[/newclass]

In the end everything collides 448 @spidey Behind her mask, Sonnet frowned at the police station suggestion. After all, it was the last place she wanted to go, not that ending up at the station would really be too much of an inconvenience for her. It wasn't as if they could lock her up after all, not when she could be on the other side of the city in the blink of an eye. She hadn't encountered anything that could stop her yet, although with new metahumans showing up every day presumably one of them would have an answer at some point. She was just glad she hadn't run into Celerity yet, at least not for long enough for the woman to do whatever it was she did. The Hero was a teleporter as well, though with some sort of knack for following people anywhere.
She shrugged, "Well it's not like they can catch either of us very easily, but I don't know if we want their attention, or," she nodded towards the now full vans. "… if they do."
One of the women in question was standing before them, and Sonnet looked her up and down. She was thin, almost skeletally so, with dark skin, and black hair that had gone greasy for want of washing. She shook her head fiercely at Sonnet's last words.
"No Police."
Her accent was thick, but it was clear that she at least spoke English passably, if not well. A forest of frightened looking eyes looked at both of them from the backs of the two vans, flicking between the two metahumans and the woman who was apparently the elected spokesperson of the group. Or perhaps the only one that spoke good enough English.
Sonnet turned to her, "then what?"
The woman nodded towards the men currently imprisoned by… Spiderman's… webbing. "They promised us… home."
The Yakuza lieutenant shook her head. "No, you don't want to go anywhere they have to offer. Especially not now."
The woman looked at the man in the nerdy costume, then back to Sonnet. "Then you."
Sonnet had raised her hands and was about to protest when she heard the sound of squealing wheels and roaring engines. It seemed that the men they had accosted were not alone, and someone had come to check on the situation. She started moving to the van, "We can argue about this later."
She jumped into one side of the van, and was annoyed to see the woman jump into the other.
She shouted out the window to the man who had helped her tonight, "Try and follow me, if you lose me meet at the corner of Charles and Washington OK?"
She put her foot down.

LIVING ON THE EDGE, FIGHTING CRIME, SPINNING WEBS, LOOKING UP WITH NO SURPRISE, ARRIVING AT THE SPEED OF TIME— FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN [attr="class","monsterexo"]The super vigilante’s idea was apparently not well taken by the others; the fellow metahuman herself did not seem to… mind it, too much, honestly. So, that was about fine, but when it came to the crowd they had just saved, they weren’t too happy with it. They wanted nothing to do with the police. Spidey couldn’t understand why, then, he also realized they might have gotten a tough day with the authorities, after all. It would have been the right thing to do, but also the heartless one. It wasn’t like these people actually had any documents, rights or much over here the way they had been shipped. Not to mention, they would have probably been sent back to where they came from— which they might have been worse at previously, so there was that idea. At that point, though, a little conversation ran between the two ladies, until the two were apparently on a little edge of what could have been the best shot— August, at this point, didn’t know, honestly. He had no idea of what procedures these guys would typically have to go through and at this point, maybe find them a foster home was probably the only one out of them. Either that or a structure that was created to host this kind of people. But they could leave them neither to the police nor on the street. Oh, and neither did these guys who apparently had more men. August cursed under his mask briefly for the false sensation of accomplishment he had been feeling until now and just quite jumped off to his van, mostly like, a spider would, with his legs spread wide enough for him to land against the door and crawl in as he sat at the driver’s seat. “ You guys can pull each other’s hair later! We’re gonna have to hurry up over here!” The man put down his foot and the van’s engine hit it, running off with the four wheels following Shortcut, mostly. But unfortunately, the guys’ pretty cheap cars were also behind and were looking for a dire confrontation as they allowed their car to act as frontlines— carelessly hitting against the van’s back. August, at first, would lose control for a fair bit, the wheels going left and right for a moment until he briefly put his other foot down and spun the driver’s steering wheel as he once more regained control of the vehicle, but also briefly hit the other van— not too strong at all, honestly, but enough to create spikes between the two. “ Alright, we need to put up with these guys somehow! Any bright ideas over there? I can’t just point-blank shoot webs— someone might get hurt!” MADE BY ★MEULK [newclass=.monsterexo]line-height:14px;[/newclass][newclass=.monsterexo b]color:#da0d0d;[/newclass]

In the end everything collides 553 @spidey Sonnet swore in Japanese, here she was with a van full of women and children she didn’t know and another van of the same following close behind her. This was definitely not what she’d signed up for when she’d joined the Yakuza. No, it had always been exciting with her father, romantic almost. This, this was far from romantic. She glanced in the wing mirror, seeing the headlights of their pursuers behind them. They seemed uncaring about the condition of their stolen cargo, quite happily ramming into the back of the truck being driven by Spiderman.
Feeling the weight of the gun inside her jacket, Sonnet momentarily considered trying to fire back at the pursuing vehicles. She mulled over it for only a moment before deciding it was too dangerous. The chances of actually hitting her targets were too low, and of hitting her ally too high. It wasn’t worth the risk.
She skidded the van around a corner, with the much busier night time streets of actual New York city not far away. The docks were mostly deserted at this time, with only the occasional surprised looking security guard making their rounds.
There was a crack and the right side wing mirror exploded, spraying shards of glass and plastic into the cab. The woman sat in the passenger seat flinched, turning her head away from the window, but she didn’t scream. If anything the steely determination in her eyes seemed to increase. Sonnet would have raised an impressed eyebrow if she wasn’t so busy trying to work out what to do. All she came up with was probably stupid enough to get them all killed anyway.
Looked at the woman, jerking her head towards the wheel. ”Take over.”
It took a moment, but eventually what Sonnet was asking for seemed to click in the other woman’s head. She reached over towards the wheel, taking over as Sonnet let go and began to climb out of the window. The wind whipped passed, icy and biting, turning her fingers white and making it even harder to keep a grip. Fortunately Sonnet didn’t need to keep her grip for long.
The car following Spiderman’s van had been accelerating to ram once again, but the driver slammed on the brakes when a dark masked figure appeared on his bonnet. Behind the mask Sonnet grinned ferally, then emptied her pistol into the driver. He jerked, twitched, then slumped to the side, taking the wheel with him.
Sonnet glanced behind her towards the now retreating forms of the two vans. The one she had been driving had slowed without her foot on the pedal, but clearly now the foreign woman had moved across into the drivers seat and was managing to keep the thing going.
A second later Sonnet was atop that van again, sliding back into the cab and pushing the temporary driver back over to the other side of the vehicle. She slammed her foot back on the gas, glancing back into the wing mirror in time to see the results of her handiwork.
The second car had hit the first, obviously at some speed, now both were wrecks. One lay on it’s roof, components and shards of glass strewn out on the road behind it. She turned the corner, leaving the wreckage in the distance.

LIVING ON THE EDGE, FIGHTING CRIME, SPINNING WEBS, LOOKING UP WITH NO SURPRISE, ARRIVING AT THE SPEED OF TIME— FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN [attr="class","monsterexo"]The Spider-Man watched closely the street as both vans followed the corner that led to a little bit of a quieter spot; however, though, they still had those blasted thugs behind them— which didn’t exactly entice the webhead too much when it came to this. He had honestly never been in such a situation. He dealt with little criminals and at times metahumans, too, but this was quite the rush— his Japanese… ‘ally’, though, had at least decided to take things thoroughly and do something about this. August watched from the hand mirror, his eyes beneath the mask slowly realizing what was going on in such a fast-motion as she quite literally cleaned them out and left the man behind the mask stunned as he could only mumble... “ Wow.” Soon, though, she also appeared back in her van as the man in red and blue sped up as he pushed his foot and drove the van by hers— “Girl, you’ve got moves!” - mentioned the man before he faced his gaze forward. Charles and Washington Street. Shouldn’t have been an issue to reach that spot— but again, expectations were shattered the moment he noticed that two cars had joined in on the fun, both mirroring traits of the former two. Spidey huffed through the fabric of his mask before he directed his gaze towards Sonnet, but this time, he decided to do something about it himself. This time the man leaned outwards the window and quickly shot web cobs that stuck his van’s front to the back of the other van. “ You’re gonna have a little bit of extra weight, sorry pal!” The acrobatic jumped out of the window with both his arm forward, until he spun a web that he used as a lever to pull himself on top of one of the cars as he laid both his feet on its rooftops. One arm of the driver tried to reach out and shoot with a gun but August quickly fired a web that connected him and a lamp post, pulling him out of the car to hang down the lamp. The vigilante then leaned off the site of the car and shot a few webs at the wheel, causing it to steer uncontrollably until the engine faulted to keep up and suddenly critically failed as black smoke emerged from beneath the vehicle. Spidey soon flew his way to the other car with his webs working as ropes, but this time, given it was right behind it; he dashed straight into the window as he hit the driver hard with his feet and caused him to fall unconscious, the spider laying with both his knees crouched and resting over his knocked out laps, with his back bent for him not to hit his head against the car’s roof. The passenger’s seat, though, hosted a stranger who was ready to shoot at August, until the latter spun a web that pulled the weapon out of his grip— and he pretty much spun it around the way one would do with one of those spinning toys. He basically tossed it back at him in the side of the head, as he too, was now knocked out. The car was about to meet a corner and driverless, so that was little Spidey’s hint to leave right away as he hopped out of the front window and stuck onto the brick wall ahead, running sideways to catch up to Sonnet’s van as he hopped off the surface and once more fired silk from both his hands to once more pull himself at high speed onto the van— as a loud thud was heard from within the van and slowly… the spider crawled over the driver seat’s window, peeking inside as he did a quick ‘peace sign’ with his hand towards the Japanese woman. “ Handled it, partner. Charles and Washington should be child’s play now.” MADE BY ★MEULK [newclass=.monsterexo]line-height:14px;[/newclass][newclass=.monsterexo b]color:#da0d0d;[/newclass]

In the end everything collides 385 @spidey The van jerked and Sonnet fought with the wheel, it felt like she'd suddenly slammed the brakes on, or that a whole load of weight had been added to the vehicle. She glanced in the wing mirror, the one that wasn't crazed with cracks. It was just barely visible, but a mass of that same sticky white stuff the guy had been shooting from his hands was attached to the sides of the vehicle, behind that, it looked like the van he had been driving was attached to the back of hers, and behind that were the headlights of two more cars.
Swearing in Japanese she heaved the vans back on course, fighting with a steering system that was only designed to direct one vehicle. The engine screamed as she pushed it further than it had ever been expected to go. Glancing in the wing mirror as often as she could, she saw flashes of that strange white material and red, followed by one of the cars spinning out of control into a wall.
There was a thud, followed by the appearance of the Spiderman wannabe's head by the window. He seemed a lot less like a wannabe right now. She almost shot him, more because of the stress of wrestling with the wheel than because she thought he might have been hostile. How many of the Eastern Europeans were capable of leaping from one vehicle to the next? It couldn't be many.
"I'm not your partner."
It wasn't far to Charles and Washington, a blessing it turned out, as when she tried to stop the vans they slid a good twenty feet further than she had expected them to thanks to the added weight and momentum of the vehicle glued to the back of her own.
She stepped out of the vehicle, glancing back at the woman who had been in the passenger seat beside her. The woman glared back defiantly, before getting out of the other door. The other van was pressed up tight to the back of the van, jamming both doors shut. The dark skinned woman tried it for a moment, before moving to the back of August's van and opening that to let out the weeping women and children.
Sonnet stared at the problem before them. "So now what webhead?"
