In the end everything collides 384 @maxcaudwell The guy opened up a little, which was something, as he had been entirely uncommunicative before the group of guys had attempted to relieve the two of them of their table. Perhaps the violence had helped him to relax, it had certainly helped her. Maybe that was why she had broken the man's wrist, frustration. She might not say it herself, but anyone who knew Sonnet well could attest to her short temper and inevitably violent way of dealing with the cause of her anger. There was probably something psychological there, but it would take an almost suicidally brave psychologist to spend any time studying her.
She nodded, "That's what it should be. If you're thinking about it then they've already got you."
Sonnet believed herself to be honourable, but in combat there was no room for honour. She was Yakuza, not Samurai, and when you were fighting for survival there wasn't time to follow an archaic system of rules. It was a hard habit to shake, but then the man Sonnet had faced would have been little challenge. He was bigger, heavier, and stronger than she was, but Sonnet was trained, faster and a metahuman. Short of a lucky hit, he couldn't have won, but every second a fight went on increased the chances of a lucky blow.
Pouring the newly arrived whiskey, Sonnet didn't bother replying to Max's gratitude. She didn't care much, compared to the bottles she normally had to buy to get drunk, a few dollars for a bottle of beer was no real concern. She lifted the amber liquid to her mouth, still not quite enjoying the taste of the whiskey, but taking her time perhaps a little more than she had before.
She paused at the question, then drank a little more of the whiskey before her, pausing to top up the glass before answering. "I mind you asking."
Then, in the awkward silence that followed, "Someone tried to kill me. Someone I trusted. It didn't work."
She didn't go into what she had done to him when she had recovered from the assassination attempt, but she didn't have to. Any fool could make up their own mind after witnessing her response to the man who had wanted their table. That man had tried to take her life.

The woman seemed pleased with Max's technique during fights, but he couldn't entirely agree with her statement, the best fighter is one who plans ahead, even if the plan just goes as far as the next strike it could prove the different rather someone wins or loses the fight. Though she did have a point, take too long and the plan could fall apart quickly, act too fast and the target could do something unexpected, when it comes down to it, Max saw fighting more as who can think the quickest and react faster. As soon as he finished his sentence, the woman took a quick drink and then shut down the topic. Max kind of expected a more aggressive approach, but considering she was still sitting here meant he didn't offend her too greatly, the voice was actually somewhat useful for this one time, but it quickly begun to urge Max to drink some more. With nothing better to do now that his attempt to get to know her was shut down, he decided to listen to the voice and begun to drink a rather large amount. As he placed his drink back on the table, she decided to answer the question anyways, which he was thankful for, the answer was quite shocking, but seeing as she was spending her time fighting over a table in a bar, he could assume she took care of the traitor. " Hm... I see..." He'd say, with a tiny hint of sorrow in his voice, betrayal could hurt quite a lot, he knew it first hand. He'd sigh and take another drink. " I need something better to do." He'd say more to himself but loud enough for her to hear, his demeanor changing ever so slightly, his usually empty eyes were focused more on the ceiling as he was trapped within his thoughts. " ...I'm actually quite drunk." He'd say as he realized what he said. Without much thought Max begun to drink his beer again, the voice was deafening, it was almost like a non-stop record at this point, demanding he keep drinking. When Max placed his drink back down, it was already half way empty. " You have any family out here?" He'd ask, his mother on his mind as he asked the question, the voice had settled down when he thought about her. He missed her so much. @tag MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

In the end everything collides 278 @maxcaudwell Sonnet raised an eyebrow as the man announced his drunkenness without really seeming to be talking to her. He was staring at the ceiling, and as such, she didn't bother replying to what seemed to merely be a statement. She was more focused on trying to get drunk herself. It was currently starting to feel more like a chore than normal. Having a group of idiots try to interrupt in the middle of it hadn't helped, and she could feel the adrenaline from the fight, however brief, burning off some of the buzz she had only just started to acquire.
She had emptied another two glasses by the time Max had asked his question, it made her pause for a moment. She did of course, but the reason she had come out here in the first place had been her father, and he was gone now. She had watched him slowly fade away until the man she had looked up to and loved became a shadow of his former self.
Sonnet slammed back the next glass before answering.
"Yeah, my mother is still out here. She lives out in the suburbs. It's much nicer out there. Not as crowded."
Sonnet didn't normally get into heart to hearts with strangers, but she supposed that since he had asked about her family, it was expected that she do the same to him. She refilled the drink, watching the amber liquid splash into the glass, slowly filling it one, two, three, four fingers. Probably more than any seasoned whiskey drinker might pour, but Sonnet didn't give a damn about the flavour, she was only interested in the side-effects.
"What about you?"

As soon as Max asked the question, it caused the girl to pause for a moment, he didn't quite know why but the voice seemed to tell him to be cautious about the subject from now on. He seemed to have a talent at bringing up sensitive topics for her, it was quite strange but at least she was willing to sit through it. Suddenly she slammed her drink down, but instead of stopping the topic right then and there like he expected her to, she spoke about her mother, saying she had a place in suburbs. He noticed she left out her father, but even as stupid as Max was in social situations he knew he shouldn't try and pry into that matter. Sonnet poured herself a rather large glass of her whiskey and there was a brief silence until she decided to ask about his family. " As far as I'm aware, no." Max simply said since it was the truth, his father died so young and his mother didn't like to talk about him so Max knew little of him. His mother had a sister but she disappeared not long after his mother died, he always wondered what happened to his auntie. " Sorry for this, I tend to get a little... Emotional when I'm drunk." Max would explain, yawning a bit as he did so, the beer fully catching up to him. " Hey... You ever see one of those meta-humans before?" Max would ask quite suddenly. He always wondered how fighting one would be like and considering Sonnet's job seemed to involved fighting, he figured Sonnet would be his best bet at getting an idea of how big of a threat they could be. In the end everything collides 286 @maxcaudwell Sonnet held her drink in the air for a moment, listening to Max's reply. She didn't really know what to say in response. "I'm sorry to hear that."
It was cliched, but it was all she could think of. Was that how everyone else felt when faced with the same problems? Maybe that was why it sounded so trite, it was everyone else said in this situation. Not that she really cared. She didn't know Max from Adam, he was just someone she had met in the bar tonight, who seemed to share the same objective as her. That is, getting drunk, though clearly, they were having more success.
She nodded with a smile, "Yeah, most people get emotional when they get drunk."
She drank a little more. Maybe if the guy stopped talking she could actually continue her journey to that objective, but she doubted it, he'd clearly already had to much. A moment later her doubt was proven correct, as though she'd seen it coming. In truth, she'd simply seen enough men drunk to know how things were going to go.
She raised an eyebrow, of course she'd seen one before, she saw one every time she looked in the mirror. Not that she would be passing on that little bit of information. She'd seen them on TV as well, but in this day and age, obsessed with real-life super heroes, who hadn't? She could lie, and simply say no, but what harm could it do? So many people had met metahumans now, even if they were rare, they were common enough in big cities like New York.
"Yeah I've seen metahumans before, I met Tank once, that Hero. Why? You a big meta-fan?"
