Eleven or more years here in this city? Jessa thought 'WOW!' It had been less then a week for her. Amora declined snacks but she grabbed a bowl of precut veggies, hummis and ranch dressing out of the fridge and poured some dressing into small dish, she spooned some hummus next to the dressing on the same small dish and moved it to the table and went for a cola before returning to the table. "Yes, if you are wondering, I am a coke addict!" with a fun smile she added "The legal kind." as she held up her beverage. Amora told her about the first time she knew she had a power. However, what she told her wasn't plesent, a plane down, no survivors save her only because her power save her. While she wasn't a telepath or mind reader, Jessa could tell Amora was still upset about the memory. Jessa got up and got a glass of ice water and a box of tissues. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you." Jessa added "That day my sister flew." it was an ill atempt to lighten the mood. Jessa wasn't the best hostess, even though she tried.
"Did you have control right off, or was there a learning curve?" Jessa asked tring to repair whatever ill humor she tried.
After, Jessa would go on to explain her first time. "Imagin cooming home to your own dog telling you 'hi where have you been all day, I'm hungery, don't leave and such." her eyes were light as they reflected the sunshine coming thru the open blinds, giving them a look of deepness.
Nibbling on veggies, she would add the first time she changed was not at all fun or pretty. "I dropped a dish, it broke, I changed. My sister screamed and my parents came running, I didnt know how to change back at the time, so they had to wait it out. thankfully my dad didnt get any video unlike our birth." she chuckled abit. "No, if your wondering, I don't like changing into anmals, communicating with them however, if fun and neat." Jessa told Amora with a light smile to her features.

Amora watched Jess get herself something to eat then return to the table with her bowl and a Coke, joking that she was an addict of the legal variety. Amora glanced at the Coke with a smile. "I can see that," she said. The thought of drinking more than two sodas a week make her teeth scream. That was way too much sweetness for her. But some people were okay with it. She knew people who had worse habits. After she had finished telling her story, she accepted the glass of water and set the tissue to the side. "Thank you," she said. Jess apologized for upsetting her, adding that her sister had flown that day. Amora could tell by her tone that she was implying her sister could actually fly due to the Event. It didn't help. "Good for her, I guess," Amora said, taking a sip of the water. Jess seemed to sense the poor timing of her joke and changed the subject. "I learned quickly. I was out in that field for a while. I had to walk until emergency services found me while looking for the wreck, so I had time to practice a little. I didn't master it that day because I had other things on my mind. But over the next couple of weeks I did. What I had become, what I was capable of didn't really register right away. Too many people were wanting to talk to me about being the sole survivor of the crash and wondering why I didn't have a scratch on me. But to simplify my answer, the only learning curve was learning what my limits were, and that only took a few minutes at most." Jess told her own story of change. Amora listened, wondering what that must've been like for her family. "How does your family react now? Are they used to it or are they still bewildered by what you can do?" she said.

Amora was easy to talk to and Jessa welcomed being able to talk about her ablitiy without fear of someone questioning or commenting negitivily about it. She and her sister had enough of that in thier own family as some of the relitives thought they should be 'marketing' thier powers for money. Her sister would go on into the hero program but it was a way for her to move away from the relitives even though thier parents were very proud of both of them, not only using thier ablities for good but not giving into the extream pressure from friends and other family memebers to capitalize on the power they have been given.
Jessa just moved away from family, no one knew her here in New York, save now Amora. "I can't image how hard it was on you that day, not only with the new ablitiy but having to speak and be under that kind of pressure being the only surviver of such a tragic event. I don't think I would be able to handle that well like you have." "My mom and dad are ok with our powers, the other reletives just want us to sell our powers for money" Jessa became quite.
There seem to be an uneasiness that Jessa felt growing, maybe it was about the loss of so many poeple, or the thought of her extended family problems, however Jessa again changed the subject, maybe one more fun.
"Can I see you shift?" She added "A size that you won't loose your clothes over." Jessa added some more with a bit of a smile "I'll show you what I can do also." There was a bit of a tease tone to her voice.

Well, some days are easier than others, Amora thought. But she just nodded to let Jess know she had heard her. She was not one to let herself wallow in self-pity. "It's good your parents are supportive of you," she said. "Don't let your other relatives get to you. Do what you think is right. I don't think making money off of your ability is inherently wrong - I make money off of mine - but I do think the reasons behind doing so can be. The way I see it, since our abilities manifested, it is easy for so-called loved ones to come out of the woodwork. I'm talking cousins and aunts and uncles you haven't seen in years, perhaps ever. And some of them may not even be related to you. But they want that piece of the pie they think you have." Jess was quiet for a little bit, then she asked if she could see Amora change. She offered to show hers as well. Amora rubbed the back of her neck. "Well, I don't see a feasible way to do it without messing up my clothes. I tell you what. I'll go grab some of your bed sheets as a kind of covering and show you that way. Then I won't have to risk my clothes. But since you've offered, I just want to say that you don't have to if it makes you uncomfortable. I believe you. I wouldn't want you to be in pain just to prove a point to me." She pushed her chair back and stood up. "I'll be right back," she said. "I'll put your sheets back when I'm through." Amora got up and went to Jess's bedroom and grabbed the comforter off of the twin bed then removed her clothes and set them aside in a neat stack. She went into the open area by the kitchen, the comforter wrapped around her like a large robe. "Okay, here it goes," she said. She held the comforter out in front of her and spread it out like a curtain then began to shift. After several seconds she was hunched over so she wouldn't hit her head on the ceiling. She held the comforter against her, but her expansive waist and hips clearly stuck out around it. She pivoted and stuck out one leg, her thigh wider than the doorway, even Jess's bed. "I won't sit down. I'll shatter any furniture you've got." By now she was having difficulty maintaining modesty so she stopped changing and stayed where she was. "What do you think?" she said. "One leg is bigger than two of you, I bet."

Having Amora say that it was nice to have supportive parents felt good. She however didn't have a problem with developing 'new' relatives. The ones she had mostly it was on her fathers side save a couple on her mothers side. One even wanted to become their 'agent' to try to get them in the movies and other appearances. He even threatened to sue them if they didn't let him be their agent. That was the last straw and her father sent him a restraining order. Sadly, it has put quite a strain on the whole extended family structure. It wasn't something she talked about, why make a bad situation worse by talking about it more?
Jessa was a relief when Amora said she would show her, her power but it required the comforter from her bed. She hoped that Amora didn't mind the mess of boxes still lining one wall of her bedroom. While she had gone to get the comforter, Jessa closed the blinds.
When Amora changed to her bigger form, Jessa's eyes widened and her jaw dropped, she was speechless! Other then a couple of creeking floor boards, "WOW" Jessa said softly.
"I can't do that!" Jessa teased, as she got up to set out another set of clothes 'just in case'. When she returned Amora had returned to normal and was wrapped in the comforter, Jessa waited for her to return. "It's noting special the family dog, I really haven't tried anything else." Jessa said as she slowly changed into the dog form. One could hear the breaking and rearranging of bone and organs. Once in dog form, she ran in circles, still trying to catch that tail! Jessa in dog form then went up to Amora and tried to talk to her. Amora would only hear barking coming from her. Jessa's dog form had to pee and she ran into the bedroom, changed back grabbed her clothes off the bed and ran into the bathroom and slammed the door. she didn't mean to slam it but she was in a hurry to go pee. Once she was done with that, she dressed and cleaned her self up and went out to Amora. "I'm sorry I ran off like that, that form had to pee and I didn't want to make a mess on the carpet." Jessa was a little embarresed that she had to flee for something so basic to the animal form she took. "I hoping to learn what other animals I can change into, so far its only a dog." Jessa told Amora with a smile and added "Maybe you can help me? I'm abit nervous taking on other forms."

Amora had expected Jess's reaction. Most people had a similar experience when it came to seeing a giant woman standing in front of them. At least she did not get scared. Some people were disturbed by a handful of the powers that had been recorded since the Event. People had been afraid of Amora at first. Some still were. But she had done her best to display her abilities in a positive way, that she was not a danger to others. A giant who was impervious to harm was a very real danger. Afterward, Jess gathered some clothes in case hers were damaged during her own change. Amora shifted back to her average size and wrapped the comforter around herself as she waited for Jess to show off her own ability. As Jess began to shift Amora could hear her bones cracking as her entire physical makeup shifted. Organs and muscles, all manipulated to form a new creation: the family dog. Amora laughed as Jess, now literally a dog, came up to her and began to bark. Amora began to pet her. "I'm assuming you're saying something intelligible to me," she said. But just as soon as she had changed Jess ran off into the bedroom. Amora did not follow and only waited, wondering what she was doing. She heard a door slam and wondered if dogs were capable of slamming doors like that. Eventually Jess returned and explained that her dog form had needed to use the restroom. Amora was perplexed. "I guess your bladder is affected, too," she said. Jess confused how nervous she was about changing into anything else and asked for Amora's help. Amora rubbed the back of her neck. "Well, I don't know how much help I could be. But I know the Hero Program offers ways to help people like us learn how to use our abilities better. It's like a training school of sorts. It's a lot safer than just winging it out in the world like you've been doing. I can look into it for you. Or, as a matter of fact, you could come with me. I'm sure they'd be happy to talk with you. Does that sound okay?"

Jessa chuckled at Amoras comment about dog bladders. "I guess so, that form is the only I know and I know it well but I am still new to the whole changing shape thing." she waved her hand in the air, just talking with her hands. She saw Amora still wrapped in the comforter and asked if she wanted to change.
While Amora was in the bedroom, Jessa took the opportunity to pour another glass of cola and nibble on a carrot with some hummus. When she returned, Jessa smiled "Welcome back" she teased.
"My sister is with the Hero program, but I really haven't seen her since she went there, please tell me more about it, what's it like and your typical day, I think you get paid too, is that right? What other benefits are there to entering the program?" Jessa said as she moved her hands about and added "What could the hero program do with an animal communicator?"
Jessa had heard good and bad things about the program, her sister never talked about what she did for them and that only added to the mystery of the program for Jessa. She didn't join because she wanted to work on her medical school, that's until she changed her mind and switch majors to Veterinary school. Of course that idea didn't fly well with her mother, hence the reason she got a job at the bronx zoo and has the apartment in New York. One thing she knew, it would be nice to see and work with her sister if it came to her joining the hero program. Still she would have to check it out more.
"I would like to go with you to the hero program and check it out, who knows maybe we can even see my twin sister Jesseina." Jessa joked "I'm the older sister, just by 20 seconds, our father got our birth on video, poor doctor nearly dropped me when she came 'flying' out." another joke seeing that her power was she was able to fly. "Her power is she can fly" Jessa added "Her short name is Jessi" Jessa smiled. "Our mother gave us similar names because we are twins. Yes, we have done the switch the twin thing on our family, friends and even at school, those teachers though can really tell us apart!" she laughed.

"A typical day?" Amora said. It was a funny question, but she took it seriously. "Well, there isn't really a so-called typical day. To be honest many days don't consist of doing much. Heroes are only really needed when the police can't handle the situation for whatever reason. Oh, sure, you could always end up stumbling on some action, but that's quite rare, at least in my experience. Don't count on it. By the time you get to the scene the police have already taken care of it." "Amora thought about the other benefits and said, "The Hero Program is federal, so you get a federal salary and all the benefits a federal job provides. Insurance, retirement, all that jazz. By itself you're not going to get rich off the salary. But there are other ways to supplement your income. Like me, I advertise products, whether its makeup, clothes, whatever. Do some modeling. Make appearances and occasional speeches. There's lots of ways to make money out there." She tapped her finger on her chin. "As for what you can do, that's for the Program to decide. But I would think you could be helpful in several situations. You could call some animals to come help, distract somebody or whatever. There's things you could do. Just have to think about it for a while." When Jessa revealed her twin sister and that she was also a metahuman, Amora said, "Oh, twins! That's very cool. Jessi and Jessa. It must be fun to always have someone to talk to. Somebody to always play with when growing up." She nodded, as if confirming this to herself. After a few moments she said, "But yes, I can take you by the main offices, let you take a look around. We can see if there's somebody you can talk to while we're there. I'm sure they would be happy to help you."

It was nice to make a new friend so soon coming to New York, even though Jessa knew she could handle just about any situation having someone to talk to and put trust in to have your back was nice. Amora was easy to talk to and Jessa shared her life with her, maybe to much but she felt comfortable with her and she is a meta to boot. Yes, so far coming to the big city that never sleeps was a good thing and Meeting Amora was another good thing.
Amora had talked about what it was like to work with the Hero program, yeah her sister told her, but she had also heard rumors and Jessa just wanted to be sure, it would not hurt to at least go see the place and hear what they have to offer. Of curse having a little extra would help her out at least with the apartment coasts.
Jessa laughed when Amora said that she could have animals come save her. "Yeah, right, not! I don't think I can control them, unless I turn into one." she teased as she poked her gently in the shoulder. She would listen carefully to what Amora told her and what and how she was saying it.
"My mother would love for me to be in the Hero program and back in medical school, however I took a year off to see if working with animals would be better, it was a kinda of compromise with my mother." Jessa would tell Amora. "So what time and where do you want me to meet you? Do you drive or we can call an uber?" Jessa asked her with the utmost kindness.

Amora had already forgotten that Jess could not communicate with animals in her natural human form. She thought that was unfortunate. It was no wonder why Jess was hesitant to change into an animal. There were many downsides to it. However, even as an animal, it was pretty awesome to be able to talk to other creatures of the earth, Amora was sure. And Jess would make an excellent spy of sorts. Be a literal fly on the wall and listen in - or was she able to turn into one of those? A dog for certain. A cat might even be better, with their innate flexibility and acrobatic skills. Not to mention speed. "I don't know if you would have time for both the Hero program and medical school," Amora said. "But you would have to talk to one of the higher-ups about that. I have a few Hero-related jobs I do, but they're not exactly related to education. That'd take up a good bit of time, especially the medical field." Jess asked about when and where to meet for the trip to headquarters and Amora said, "I can meet you here tomorrow at seven. I'll pick you up. So try to get to bed early so you will be ready and refreshed tomorrow when we get there. First impressions are always important."

Still with her new friend Amora, Jessa took the little plate of hummus and grabbed a tomatoe and dipped it into the hummus and then bit into the small flavorful treat. Taking another rather long drag of her soda and then turning her attention back to Amora.
Frowning about maybe not being able to do both hero work and medical school, one could ask and maybe she could find another way. Amora seemed to be doing well with two occupations, her modeling and hero work. Jessa did not even know if she was going to stay in medical school since her power involved animals, shifting into and communication with them, why not work with them? Jessa sighed at the thought. Isn't that why she was here in New York, working at the Bronx Zoo to see if working with those creatures would be something she really wanted to do?
When Jessa had asked about a time, Amora had suggested seven in the morning the next day. Amora also had suggested to get a good nights sleep, that first impressions count. Jessa agreed to the early morning time. She did not mind the time, she was usually was up before the then for a morning run wich she would forgo this one time, as Amora said first impressions count and she didnt was to be exhausted and sweaty. She planned on being squeaky clean, bright eyed and bushy tailed as they say.
"Can you suggest an outfit to wear?" Jessa motioned for Amora to follow into the bedroom to help with picking out an outfit for the morning trip to the heros headquarters. Jessa pulled out a light blue jumper and a white turtle neck "Hows this?" Jessa said as she tossed it on the bed and then pulled out a three piece suit set(Pencil skirt, vest, jacket) in a wine color and a light pink blouse "Or this?" Jessa held it up to her frame and looked to Amora for her suggestion.
