In the end everything collides 320 @aaron Mmmmm, we all like free shit."
She helped herself to a handful of her fries, dunking them in the sauce they'd come with before eating them. She wasn't a particularly attractive eater, not least because a woman her size shouldn't be able to consume that quantity of food and still walk.
She raised an eyebrow at the comment, but returned the gesture, knocking back the glass. It was a gesture of respect, and she could appreciate that at least, even if she didn't understand his reasons for it fully. She eyed the bottle, it was more than halfway down already. Glancing towards the bar, she could see that the bar was starting to get busier. She would have to order soon if she wanted to keep her drinking going consistently without giving her body a chance to burn it off.
She snorted, smiling. "You mean a dick?"
In truth she was enjoying the conversation, parts of it were definitely skirting too close to personal for her liking, but she rarely spoke to people outside of the Yakuza, and it was exhausting constantly proving herself. This man seemed to just respect her, despite having defeated her. She would still have to repay that debt, but that was for another time. Now they were in the middle of another truce, and she'd be damned if she was the one who broke it.
His next question made her look at him in disbelief. "I live in the 21st century."
She reached into a pocket, pulling out three different plastic devices. She sorted through them briefly, before selecting one that apparently passed some invisible test and tossing it across the table for him to tap in his number. It was a classic burner, a small plastic flip phone that could be picked up anywhere for twenty bucks.
"It's new, so you might get a couple of weeks out of it before I ditch it."

- TANK - "I'll see you on the other side, drink in hand, smile on my lips." "Exactly."
He laughed, it clearly not being the first time someone offered to call him dick, or pussy, or manchild. People apparently found it hilarious to attach names to him that he felt were furthest from the truth. Taking her phone, he opened it and punched in a name before bringing out a blank card and offering it to her. He didn't carry a phone on him at all when on patrol- best not to give someone the opportunity to find out who he talks to, should he get caught or killed. He'd half shrug.
"So do I, but I'm also a paranoid vet so, I don't always carry one."
He'd slide the phone back across to her, his number punched in. So she had a burner phone too? That was why he memorized all the phone numbers he was given. Better to be safe than sorry, and if he ever had to get rid of his phone in a hurry, he'd have all the numbers ready to go on a new phone. Grabbing a bit more grub, he ate up, taking another swig of his booze to wash it down. Finishing quickly, he'd stand and pull out some money, dropping a few hundred dollar bills on the counter. Each bottle was probably sixty, plus the food, plus tip. Three or four hundred should cover it.
"This was fun, my little metrical composition. We should do it again sometime."
He'd tuck the card away, assuming she gave it back, and grab the bottle off the bar and take the last few swigs. He was getting too heavy a buzz, and he didn't want to overstay his welcome. Sonnet seemed the type of person to enjoy company, but only for a certain period of time. If you tried to hard, you'd get very little reward. He could respect that, and so would by taking his leave. Giving a little belch, he'd offer the barkeep a little salute while talking.
"I'll make a mission of changing your mind on the friend thing, you know. Enjoy the food and booze."
He'd give her a little clap/pat on the shoulder and start for the door.

In the end everything collides 297 @aaron She raised an eyebrow at his apparent lack of a mobile phone. "Right."
She wasn't entirely surprised, he seemed the type. She wouldn't have been entirely surprised if he still had a phone book. That said, he was a paranoid Special Forces veteran, so maybe not. She flicked open the phone to check the number and name, then snapped it closed before slipping it back into her pocket. She'd make sure to avoid using it for other things; it might be useful to have a member of the Hero Program on speed dial. Not that she was under any illusions about the kind of relationship they would have. She was a criminal, he was very much not.
She was moderately impressed when he pulled out the wad of cash, but not entirely surprised, he seemed the kind of guy that would happily pay his way if needed, and he didn't exactly seem to be the type to spend his salary frivolously, even if he didn't get any sponsorships. She certainly hadn't seen any with his Hero name on, and in truth, his image just didn't seem to suit that aspect of the Program. He was too dirty, too gritty, too… real…
She wrote the number of the burner she'd given him onto the card, handing it back to him now that he'd stood. She still had a few of the wings and half of the fries left, and she didn't intend to leave until they were done. She watched him from her seat, nodding a brief thank you.
"Chivalry isn't dead I guess."
She managed to not react to the physical gesture this time, trusting him not to try and start a fight in a crowded bar like this. She picked up another wing as he left.
