Claire Elliott
At any rate, that's happiness; to be dissolved into something complete and great.

WHO YOU SEE
THE FACE I WEAR Hair: Black Eyes: Brown/Green Skin: Pale Attire: Most people's’ initial reaction is to double-take. For someone so quiet, her presence is definitely iconic. Claire’s wardrobe is at least 90% black or dark grey and piercings cover her face from lip, to nose, eyebrow, and ears. She’s never uncomfortable - wearing things that aren’t too tight and hardly ever ‘dressing up’. Boots/sneakers and jeans are a must. Her hair is often gelled upwards into a short mohawk or simply pulled back into a small bun or ponytail. Her skin is a canvas of dozens of tattoos with different styles and colors. | GENERAL At first, Claire looks anything but approachable. Her style isn’t a widely comfortable fit when it comes to social interaction - often appearing shut-off from wanting anyone to come and talk to her. But never judge a book by its cover. Though she stands or sits away from crowds, she's perfectly friendly (though quietly) when approached and carries herself much softer than her clothing, hair, and piercings/tattoos would suggest. Hobbies/Interests: Classical music, Indie music, spicey foods, quiet/cuddly animals, all things art, the rain, pickup basketball (if you can warm her up enough), reading, tea. Likes: Drawing/painting, quiet spaces, being at home, a sucker for puppies and kittens, watching the Cubs (baseball), learning about culture, Indy music. Dislikes: Country music, mushrooms, sour things, overconfidence, little/annoying sounds in otherwise silent areas, people chewing with their mouths open. |

[PTab=PERSONAL]
WHO I AM
PERSONALITY
Claire’s attitude and physical appearance hardly match. She’s a quiet, soft-spoken person that often shies away from any conversation that isn't a direct one-on-one with someone she knows; classic introvert. Once you get her talking, though, she’s quite the deep thinker and intellectual. Her answers are often direct and simple. She’s very much an ‘it’s-the-little-things’ person when it comes to what she values and also has a healthy moral compass.
Though she’s easily abashed, Claire doesn’t scare often from tough conversations or situations. Inevitability is something she easily understands and she also sees through overestimation/underestimation like a window but never boasts or becomes over-confident; instead quietly keeping it to herself. Her mind is wired to be a strict realist, but she does strive to lean on the side of optimism.
HISTORY
Claire’s history isn’t full of twists and turns and isn’t even actually that interesting. She was born to Nathan and Rebecca Elliott in a hospital in Frankfurt, Germany at an American Navy base. Her mother, Becca, was an active duty SeaBee; frontline soldiers that specialize in construction for the rest of the troops coming in. After the duration of her tour ended, they moved back to their hometown of Chicago when Claire was only three.
She was lucky enough to be able to maintain her enlisted status at Naval Station Great Lakes just north of the city for plenty of years while her father went back to work with his trade in physical therapy. When Claire was eight, the world watched in horror at the image on the television screens - almost the entire city of Chicago on lockdown. Fire and smoke erupted from two gaping holes in the big apple’s Twin Towers. Hours later, they plummeted to the ground and covered the citizens of New York and the watching American people in terror.
Her mother was deployed to Afghanistan within the next week. Frequent phone calls home to her husband and daughter were the norm for the first couple of months, but dwindled the more violent the area became during the war. Claire’s father became her only parental figure during trying times like puberty and ‘the talk’, making their bond incredibly strong. They were all the other had. Becca’s tour turned into another tour.. Claire’s thirteenth birthday passed and she (and her father) had only seen her mother a handful of times; twice during Christmases and twice for a week in summer.
Claire entered High School, quickly turned-off by how dramatic the majority of the students were, and conversed much more easily with her teachers than she did with other peers. She always looked forward to coming home and playing some 1-on-1 basketball with her father in the driveway or watching football. Art classes were her break during the school day where she wasn’t terribly annoyed - taking to pens and inks and sometimes charcoal. Her Junior year, at sixteen, she jogged into her home to show her father a piece her teacher had been very complimentary about only to see him sitting on the couch and sobbing. He didn’t have to say anything… she knew. The officers had come to deliver the letter just an hour beforehand.
They didn’t let go of each other for days.
There’s not much to her after that. Her mother’s body was thankfully flown home in a casket draped with an American flag and she was laid to rest in a cemetery far enough outside of the city that you couldn’t hear the cars and noise. Nathan continued working, though he was given a month’s paid leave from his extremely understanding employer to be with his daughter, and Claire went on to graduate. Soon enough, letters from different universities and colleges started showing up in the mail. One, however, was much different than the rest.. from a dean in the Fine Art Institute of San Francisco that had seen her art on Facebook from a friend of a friend. Her scholarship offer was incredible.
Separating from her father with such a long distance was almost impossible, but after a very long talk about ‘living your life’ as any good father would have with their child, Claire moved a year later and accepted the scholarship offer to major in Fine Visual Art. Falling in love with her schoolwork, she dove into classes with passion in color theory, application, and everything in-between. The end of May came and she found herself at the final stretch of her senior year with only a single semester left to finish for her Master's degree in December, planning to spend the summer as she always did back home with her father. She never made it to the airport at the end of the school year to fly to Chicago - a victim of the ‘crash of the century’.

[PTab=POWER]
MORE TO ME THAN MEETS THE EYE
ABILITY
Claire’s body has been a canvas since she was of legal age. Now, her largest image - the dragon on her back - has become her source of power. It has given her the abilities of the mythological 'spirit dragon'
- The Scales: The legendary mythological creature’s hide gives true form through her. In mythology, the spirit dragon shows glorious blue scales. While she does not grow them, her skin and bones thicken with increased density and decreased nerve pain-reception, making her incredibly durable and giving her a small blue tint to her paleness. When active, the ink slowly changes into a deep navy.
- Breath of Fire: Along with her hardened skin tissue, the back of her throat is able to spark and project a wave of heat so strong that it turns into blue flame. Being the creator of it with the proper density to have it come form inside of her, Claire is fireproof. When the flame occurs, her ink glows like hot metal - often through most clothing.
- Spirit/Dream-Walking:An out-of-body experience as reality. The ink slowly changes into a silvery, almost deep chrome tone. This ability enables Claire to fall into a very deep form of ‘sleep’ - more so a temporary coma - and walk through the physical realm unseen, unheard, and untouchable while her body remains completely vulnerable where it is.
LIMITS
She cannot use both 'Scales' or 'Spirit Walking' at the same time and must choose one or the other, making her body very vulnerable when projected in the 'spirit realm'. She is not bulletproof when armored, but depending on the firearm (and how many times she's been shot), most bullets do not go deep enough to cause extreme harm. She is all things mortal: can get sick, can be killed, can tire easily.
The Scales: The benefits of this talent do not apply to internal organs, eyes, hair, or nails. Though it is difficult for her skin to be pierced, it is not impossible. A knife stab from an ordinary human would more than likely just crack the blade, but one from an enhanced human or some kind of machinery would be far more likely to do damage. The hardness of her bones and skin enable her to fall great distances without breaking and also to hit without any need of holding back for self-harm (punching/kicking/head-butting).
Breath of Fire: Her skin is fireproof for the most part (not hair, eyes, nails) up to 1500C (the temperature of blue fire), but her lungs react the same to smoke. Fireproof does not include acid burns, molten burns, etc. The fire currently only extends 10ft. in a cone shape and takes an incredible amount of strength out of her, leaving her immediately exhausted. It's a last resort tactic. She can, however, do small flames in tiny doses the more she gains control of it (i.e. melting a door handle to break in someplace).
Spirit/Dream-Walking: This is an extremely dangerous talent. While Claire can hear and see things where her spirit wanders, she cannot touch - phasing through anything she tries besides the ground beneath her feet. She is able to wander from place to place within a certain radius (currently 50mi.) that will grow as she becomes more accustomed to the talent. This will expand as she practices/uses it and will be edited within this section.
As of now, Claire is not great at knowing how to re-enter herself, having done it by luck most times or trying new things to get it to work faster. The longer she stays in the spiritual plane, the more she begins to meld with it.. forgetting small things at first, then important train-of-thought items like why she’d come in the first place, how she got here, how to get back, and eventually who she is.
WEAKNESSES
If the skin of the tattoo becomes injured (i.e. cuts, gashes, etc), her powers either weaken, work for a shorter period of time, or are completely unusable depending on the size of the damage until the skin has healed.
If the ink is harmed on her physical body while she is Spirit/Dream-Walking, she will remain lost until it has healed and will more than likely receive some form of memory loss (depends on the time spent lost/damage done) and neurological damage that will heal or regain in time (mostly.. hopefully).
